My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope last week was a good one. I know I am looking forward to this upcoming week. My daughter is coming home tomorrow and will be here for two weeks! I have not seen her since September, so it will be nice to see her. I actually have some time off too due to the holiday, AND I have no commute as I am working from home. I really won with this visit.
Last week my my first full-time work from home since my surgery two years ago. It was weird. As always, I had more time to do things since there is no one to socialize with here, but I do miss chatting with some of my office friends. I was happy with the way I managed my time (for the most part), and I exercised every day.
The biggest news in these parts is that we finally got rain, and it rained a LOT. Not only did it rain, it got colder. I think it was windy the entire past week. It's been a long time since we had rain, so, definitely a good thing.

I was dancing a jig when I saw the approval for the Shalvis. I adore her books! I am eager to read Alexander's book as well. They tend to be sweet and heartwarming.

Invites
- Murder at Gulls Nest by Jess Kid
Read Last Week
I have no idea why I thought I would survive reading two Renee Carlino. By the end of both books, my eyes were swollen from all the crying I did. I will say that Wish You Were Here was a bit gentler, but both were super emotional. I was kind of mad at Carlino for what she did in This Used to Be Us, but I still like the book a lot. I am trying to accept the big picture reason, but .... still mad. Regardless, these two were my top books of the week.

I have not read much of either book below, but I am excited about both. I adored Novak's Coyote Canyon series and am excited to read more from her. I stumbled upon Games Untold at the library. It is a collection of Inheritance Games stories. I didn't know about it but am enjoying these shorts.

I hope you will enjoy your daughter's stay Sam! It seems such a treat this year with you homeworking and having some holiday!
ReplyDeleteI really will get to maximize my time with her not having to travel to work, and I have five days that she is here off, too.
DeleteHave a nice visit with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary!
DeleteI'm so glad you will have so much time with your daughter! Glad working from home is going well too!
ReplyDeleteI have so much more time without meal prepping and traveling. It's going to be hard going back in January.
DeleteHow lovely that you get to visit with your daughter for two weeks and you don't have to commute! I bet you were happy to be working from home when that rain hit! I loved having rain while living in Southern California, but man did it make my commutes a nightmare! Yay for picking up The Banned Books Club!
ReplyDeleteThey don't get a lot of rain in Southern California, no? I suppose if that's the case, they don't get enough practice.
DeleteI'm glad you have a lot of time with your daughter. Yay! And I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Greg! Best wishes to you and yours, too!
DeleteI just finished Lost and Lassoed, and it was another great read. You don't get as much of Gus's dad, though he is still quite present. But, you get a bigger focus on Teddy and her relationship with her father. Make sure to read the author's note at the end after finishing! And YAY!!! So happy for you getting 2 weeks with your daughter!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like dad was robbed with the next (and last) book being that guy/friend. What are you hinting at Ali?
DeleteI'm glad it finally rained, but my gosh, it didn't stop for two days straight! Hooray for a short week, Thanksgiving, AND your daughter being here!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot! But, we went for weeks without any rain. I don't know if we should complain.
DeleteWhat's a little rain when you're finally working from home and having the kid with you? π
ReplyDelete"I was dancing a jig when I saw the approval for the Shalvis."
I'm picturing this scene right now π.
That panda is lovely. It looks like pandas are forever rolling and pivoting LOL.
Pandas are so chaotic. It's a wonder they are still alive.
DeleteHow wonderful to have your daughter home for two weeks. Enjoy your time together, definitely something to be thankful for. I love that panda video. It really made me laugh. The Shalvis book and Poppy Alexander book are both wish only for me. I will read them when they are published anyway. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeletePanda's are always fun to watch. Boo! I never get wishes on NG. Both authors are solid reads for me.
