Book Report Books!
Happy Tuesday! Today we are talking about books we read for school. I have done required reading several times, so I thought I would switch it up a bit. I was thinking about books I read back in the mid 70s and early 80s that were sort of "guided choices" for school assignments. These were the book report books. Back in the day, I wrote quite a few book reports, and below are some of the books I reported on.
- Kon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl
- The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes
- Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink
- The Secret of the Old Clock by Carolyn Keene
- Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume
- Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien
- The Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars
- From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
- A Winkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle
- The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

Nancy Drew! I loved those as a kid. My grandma had actually kept a few of my aunts' books from childhood and would break them out for my sister and me when we came to visit.
ReplyDeleteI became a Nancy Drew fan when one of my classmates turned me on to her books. I think they still hold up.
DeleteI remember all but two of these! And I read several of them. Any Judy Blume book was always a must-read for me. She was very much a defining force in my childhood.
ReplyDeleteJudy Blue and Beverly Cleary were two I read a LOT from.
