Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone had a great week. What did I do? It was wash, rinse, repeat for me. Worked, cleaned, read. I am kind of dreading the election though I cannot wait for it to be over. All of this business is exhausting. You know what, if someone wants my vote, they would promise to get rid of Daylight Savings Time. I hate it, and yes people, that nightmare is coming soon. I know everyone likes this change, the fall back, but it does nothing but mess with my sleep schedule.

Other developments? I have developed an unhealthy vendetta against pigeons. I pay $105 per month to be terrorized by these birds. They block the doorway, they leave mountains of poop EVERYWHERE, especially on all the cars, and they have battles on the cars too. They are terrifying menaces to society. I really feel like the company that runs the parking deck should take care of the infestation. So, yeah, now I have two mortal enemies - dust and pigeons.

Let's Discuss

I am really feeling this....

Stacking the Shelves

I didn't add too many books, but I could not resist The Cottage on Glass Lake when I saw it on sale. I loved the companion book and am excited to read about the other sister. I got an invite for The Ripple Effect. I loved the male MC in North's last book, so I am leaning towards downloading this one.

Read Last Week

I read a lot of good books this week and am happy to report that my luck with Japanese authors continues. The Restaurant of Lost Recipes was as charming as the last Food Detectives book. I hope there will be more food "mysteries" in the future. The Full Moon Coffee Shop was a great story of connection with a touch of whimsy. Let's be honest, I was fully on board when I heard there were talking cats.

I am loving Under Loch and Key. The couple is great and so is the paranormal backstory. I just got to the part where the curse and the truth about the matter was revealed. I am itching to find out how it all plays out.

My audiobook is dark and sad and depressing. I feel like I am going that extra mile to check South Dakota off my list. If it weren't so hard to find books for this state, I probably would have DNFed. You all know I am more of an uplit person, and that is not this. At least not at this point. Here's hoping things start looking up for these characters.

  1. LOL I feed the pigeons when we're not supposed to. I don't care, the manager can kiss my a$$. Have a good week. Hopefully the pigeons stop terrorizing you.

    1. It's nice of you to feed them as long as they don't terrorize people. I have such a vendetta against them now.

  2. Ugh pigeons!! I have a deep dislike for ALL birds, but pigeons and seagulls are the worst. The Gen X costume is the best! I'm actually have acute anxiety attacks about this election. Its not good! Hope you have a great week!

    1. I remember a seagull stealing my daughter's lunch at the beach club. They are fiends. With all the fear mongering, I cannot imagine why people would have anxiety. We have a government that is set up with checks and balances. We don't have a king.

  4. Can't wait to read Under Loch and Key. I'll be reading The Game Changer soon, too.

    1. The Game Changer was cute, but Loch and Key was really good. It's another shifter romance.

    1. Good luck! I don't remember it affecting my daughter, but she is a champion sleeper, still is. I am jealous.

  7. I'm looking forward to Loch and Key even more hearing that you're enjoying so much! The time change coming isn't as bad to me as the one in spring because I hate losing an hour. Also, I hate leaving in the dark for work and it fixes that, at least for a little while.

    1. Any change messes with my schedule. I hate it! It's going to be dark at some point, and I leave for work at 4.30 am, so it's always dark. I think if we left it alone, it would all work out fine.

  8. Sorry to hear about the jerky pigeons, but that meme was funny. I barely squeaked into the Gen X group but I totally relate to that pic. Pretty much everything was better. :) I had put Days of Wonder on hold at the library and by the time it was available I was no longer in the mood and I canceled the hold. Haha. I'll be really interested to see what you think of it.

    1. They really are jerks and just the poop on top of my parking deck misery since construction began. Are we at the age where everything was better back in the day? (yes, we are) Days of Wonder if quite a story. Lots of heartbreak. I am about halfway through and I think there is just a little of the "then" to cover. I am eager to get the full story.

  9. I'm not a big fan of pigeons either, or seagulls. I enjoyed the Restaurant of Lost Recipes as well. Enjoy all your new books, Sam.
