Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for

The long-awaited follow-up to the Reese’s Book Club pick and New York Times bestselling global phenomenon The Light We Lost: a thrilling love story about the roles fate and choice play in shaping a life
It’s been ten years. In case you’re out there somewhere—in case you’re listening, I’m here. And I have so much to tell you.
It’s been nearly ten years since Gabe’s been gone when Lucy finds a tiny piece of paper in a box of his old photos. An address in Rome. Why did Gabe keep it, and what was he doing in Italy? Lucy buys a last-minute ticket. Impulsive, but Gabe always brought that out in her.
Lucy’s journey to uncover Gabe’s secret leads her to Dr. Dax Amstrong, a New Yorker in Italy working with an NGO. His broad shoulders and sad, intense eyes draw Lucy in. His touch reaches her in a forgotten place—one that no one has neared since Gabe.
But her old life awaits, along with an earth-shattering decision—whether she and Darren should tell their son Samuel the truth about his real father. How can Lucy move forward while she’s rooted in regret? Fate broke her heart in the past. Can finding new love set her free?
I don't normally feature a CWW pick this far out from publication, but I was so excited when I saw Santopolo wrote a follow up to The Light We Lost. That book was such a huge surprise to me. I felt as though this book should not have appealed to me, never mind get a high rating from me given the heroine's questionable choices. But I couldn't help it, I loved it! And the ending left me in a puddle of my tears, so given an opportunity to see what came next is something I cannot pass up. Sounds like Lucy will be faced with some big choices again, and I hope she make the right decisions.

You really can't go home again.
Tait Logan is proud of the life she’s built for herself. Despite her world-shattering divorce, not having any genuine connections with other humans apart from her sister Ava, and the fact that the remainder of her family is estranged from her life, she’s happy…happy-adjacent, at least. She’s rebuilt herself through her photography; her dream career, the one thing she does still have. When that career contracts her to do an assignment on her estranged family's home, Logan Range—a now famous ranch functioning as the setting for a popular TV show—she’s left with no choice but to agree. It’s only a six-week assignment, after all. She has no plans to set down roots, or get to know the family that, seemingly, has had no interest in a relationship with her since her parents' divorce when she was seven.
Henry Marcum is a cowboy who has dedicated his life to the Logan family and to their ranch. He owes them for raising him, rescuing him, and giving him purpose… He also owes them for every hardship he’s inadvertently brought their way. So, when Tait Logan shows up after 20 years of near total silence, he takes it upon himself to protect the people he knows and loves.
It’s a rocky start when Tait and Henry first collide; he is naturally wary of her intentions, and she is more than perturbed by their literal collision - which results in her broken camera, during her first night on location, no less. But as the pair get to know each other better, they’re thrown off balance time and time again by their growing feelings, and by the story of the Logan family as it becomes increasingly less clear from their perspectives.
Set in the mountains and valleys of Idaho on a rustic ranch, Rootbound is a steamy romance with a warm country feel that touches upon family, heartbreak, and whether the potential for disaster is worth the risk that accompanies love.
I had bought Funny Feelings soon after it came out, and then didn't read it for quite some time. I waiting until Savor It was released this year. I was glad I finally read my DeWitt book but wish I had done it sooner. I found I rather like DeWitt's stories. I went on to read The Co-Op which was another hit, and now, I will read Rootbound. I am looking forward to visiting Idaho and getting to know Tait and Henry. They sound like an interesting match, and I want to know more about the Logan family.

The Love We Found Sounds good. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI have not read it yet, but I did get approved for the ARC this week, so I am thrilled.
DeleteI've got so many ARCs on my physical and virtual pile, so I'm a bit overwhelmed. Naturally, instead of reading any of those I've started A Court of Thorns and Roses. My SIL has been badgering me to read it, and my library loan finally came through.
ReplyDeleteIs that your first SJM books? ACOMAF is still my favorite of the series. Hope you enjoy it.
DeleteI like the sound of Rootbound! Looking forward to your thoughts, Sam!
ReplyDeleteIt was good! I liked it so much. There were tears, too, so you know it worked for me.
DeleteI know I've read The Light We Lost, but I don't remember a lot of it. It's interesting that the author is returning to that world, though! Rootbound definitely sounds more my speed!
ReplyDeleteThat book slayed me! I hope I can survive reading the sequel.
DeleteThat's when you remind me that I still have to read a Jill Santopolo book!!
ReplyDeleteI like her books. They all bring the pain for the most part.
DeleteI want to read more from DeWitt. I really enjoyed Savor It so I just got a copy of The Co-op to read.
ReplyDeleteI have now read all her books. Loved them! The Co-Op was great! I hope you enjoy it.
DeleteI need to get caught up on DeWitt's books. I enjoyed Funny Feelings.
ReplyDeleteI am a new and solid fan of her work. She needs to get cracking on a new book for me because I have now read all her published books.
DeleteI did not read The Light We Lost, because I hadn't heard of it, but my library has it, so it is now on my list. The Love We Found sounds like one I would definitely enjoy. I hope you enjoy both of these, Sam.
ReplyDeleteThe Light We Lost -- so many tears! I liked it, but it has one of those dealbreaker type things in it. I have not really heard you complain about too many things in books, so you may be able to just enjoy the story.
