From #1 New York Times -bestselling author Dan Gemeinhart comes a standalone companion to the critically-acclaimed The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise about a father and daughter who venture on a moving, uplifting, and rollicking cross-country road trip.
It's been almost a year since Coyote and her dad left the road behind and settled down in a small Oregon town. . . time spent grieving the loss of her mom and sisters and trying to fit in at school. But just as life is becoming a new version of normal, Coyote discovers a box containing her mom’s ashes. And she thinks she might finally be ready to say goodbye.
So Coyote and her dad gear up for an epic cross-country road trip to scatter the ashes at her mom’s chosen resting place. The only problem? Coyote has no idea where that resting place is―and the secret’s hidden in a book that Coyote mistakenly sold last year, somewhere in the country. Now, it’s up to Coyote to track down the treasured book . . . without her dad ever finding out that it’s lost.
It’s time to fire up their trusty bus, Yager, pick up some old friends, discover some new ones, and hit the road on another unforgettable adventure.
Coyote and her dad were back on the road in this book, and one of their stops was Wyoming. This was another epic road trip with Coyote making new friends while she searches for her mother's final resting place. It was everything the first book was - touching, heartwarming, fun. I love that I had another opportunity to spend more time in this world and would have no problem returning again should Gemeinhart have anther Coyote story in him.
Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage

She’s the city girl who refuses to be saddled with a man. He’s the cowboy who wants her anyway.
The last thing Ada Hart needs is a man to take care of her. Not anymore. After failing out of her interior design program and the disaster that was her short-lived marriage, Ada clawed her way up from her rock bottom. Now, the only person she trusts is herself, and that has gotten her further than ever before. She has her own business, and one of the largest ranches in Wyoming just hired her for the most important project of her career.
When Ada arrives in Meadowlark, she finds herself in a dive bar where she can’t seem to shake the eyes of a handsome cowboy. When she leads him to the back of the bar, he leaves her with a kiss that most people can only fantasize about. She almost regrets that she’ll never see him again . . . except it turns out he’s her new boss.
Weston Ryder is a happy guy. Even happier now that the mystery woman from the bar is the interior designer for his dream project on his family’s ranch. He feels like he hit the jackpot. It’s too bad she wants absolutely nothing to do with him outside of work. Ada is convinced the pull she feels toward Wes will go away, but Wes can’t stop thinking about her. Even though walls are coming down around Rebel Blue, Ada’s walls are firmly in place.
Can they make it through this project without giving in? Or will they both put their dreams on the line for a chance at love?
I was thrilled to return to the Rebel Blue Ranch where I fell more in love with the Ryder family. These books are set solidly in what I picture Wyoming to be. I enjoyed being on the ranch and seeing a world I know little about. The middle brother was busy turning the old house into a hotel. Wes felt he had something to prove, so I was rooting for him. I grew to adore him especially because of his big heart and the way he nurtured Ada who needed people on her side to build her back up after escaping a toxic marriage. November and my return to the ranch cannot come fast enough.
Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center

A year after getting divorced, Helen Carpenter, thirty-two, lets her annoying, ten years younger brother talk her into signing up for a wilderness survival course. It's supposed to be a chance for her to pull herself together again, but when she discovers that her brother's even-more-annoying best friend is also coming on the trip, she can't imagine how it will be anything other than a disaster. Thus begins the strangest adventure of Helen's well-behaved life: three weeks in the remotest wilderness of a mountain range in Wyoming where she will survive mosquito infestations, a surprise summer blizzard, and a group of sorority girls.
Yet, despite everything, the vast wilderness has a way of making Helen's own little life seem bigger, too. And, somehow the people who annoy her the most start teaching her the very things she needs to learn. Like how to stand up for herself. And how being scared can make you brave. And how sometimes you just have to get really, really lost before you can even have a hope of being found.
This was another amazing book by Katherine Center. It was a story of a woman rising from the ashes and finding herself again. This personal journey was accomplished via a back country survival course. That resulted in many opportunities to showcase Wyoming. It was really tough at times, but I felt so proud of all these characters as they conquered those wilderness challenges.

Sage's series is definitely the one that comes to mind for me when it comes to Wyoming. I need to read Happiness for Beginners.
ReplyDeleteHappiness for Beginners was SO GOOD! It was a comeback story, and it really got me pumped up.
DeleteI haven't read a book of hers that I haven't enjoyed yet, so I'll definitely have to pick it up at some point.
DeleteAll of those sound like they could be good.
ReplyDeleteThey sure were,
DeleteOh FUN! I don't know if I have ever read a book in Wyoming, honestly? But now you have made me want to see if I have heh.
ReplyDeleteI know you read some contemporaries, but apparently, not enough cowboy books.
DeleteI haven't read Happiness for Beginners, yet, so need to get to it, plus it will cross Wyoming off my list. Isn't that the one that Netflix did as a movie? I will need to read it before I watch it. Thanks for the reminder about that one.
ReplyDeleteI adored that book! I do believe it was adapted, but I have not seen it.
DeleteI found it on Netflix, so I need to read it now!!!
