Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for

Three estranged siblings return to their family home in New York after their beloved sister's death in this unforgettable story of grief, identity, and the complexities of family.
The three Blue sisters are exceptional—and exceptionally different. Avery, the eldest and a recovering heroin addict turned strait-laced lawyer, lives with her wife in London; Bonnie, a former boxer, works as a bouncer in Los Angeles following a devastating defeat; and Lucky, the youngest, models in Paris while trying to outrun her hard-partying ways. They also had a fourth sister, Nicky, whose unexpected death left Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky reeling. A year later, as they each navigate grief, addiction, and ambition, they find they must return to New York to stop the sale of the apartment they were raised in.
But coming home is never as easy as it seems. As the sisters reckon with the disappointments of their childhood and the loss of the only person who held them together, they realize the greatest secrets they've been keeping might not have been from each other, but from themselves.
I am often drawn to stories about sisters, and this one sounds like it will be packed with drama and emotion. I want to know more about each of these women who are returning home to mourn the death of their sister. Each one so different from the other, I can only imagine the complexities of the family dynamic. Early reviews are great, and I really think this will be a page turner for me.

Opposites attract when a straitlaced lawyer and whimsical party planner must fake-date as co-parents of a rambunctious Irish wolfhound in the second book of this im-paw-ssibly charming small-town romance series.
Connor Wyeth has a plan for everything. But when he adopts Maximus, an unruly Irish wolfhound mix, he gets more than he bargained for. If he doesn't act fast, the big dopey mutt is going to destroy his house. The only person Max ever listens to is the volunteer who used to walk him at the shelter—a perennially upbeat woman whose day job is planning princess parties for little kids. Connor couldn't ever imagine that she'd be able to tame such a beast as Max, but he's desperate enough to try anything.
Deenie Mitchell isn't looking forward to spending more time with uptight, rules-oriented Connor—no matter how attractive he is. But when her sister announces her engagement, Deenie realizes he's the perfect person to impress her type-A family. When she learns he needs a plus-one for his law firm's work events, an unlikely alliance is formed. But as they play the perfect couple, the friendship—and the feelings—that are forming start to feel all too real. Opposites may attract, but can the man with a plan for everything and the misfit who makes her own rules ever find common ground?
I have read two other books in this series, and they were both utter delights. I have made it my goal to read them all. Though I started the books out of order, I want to try and catch up before the next installment is released. I look forward to returning to Pine Hollow and meeting more pups.

I love stories about sisters, too! It can be such a tight relationship but also difficult!
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds intense, but I cannot resist.
DeleteI've only read one of Lizzie Shane's books, but I really enjoyed it. I definitely need to try some more. Hope you enjoy both of these!
ReplyDeleteI finished the Shane book yesterday. It was the fun and sweet time I needed. Really enjoyed it.
DeleteI read Once Upon a Puppy a while back, but don't remember much of it. I hope you enjoy both books!
ReplyDeleteIt was adorable! This series has been great for me.
DeleteI also love books about sisters, but that cover certainly did not make me notice it at all. It does sound like an emotional story. Who doesn't love a book with an adorable puppy on the cover. Great picks, Sam.
ReplyDeleteThe pups always get my attention, and Shane works them into the stories well.
DeleteWell I would read Once Upon a Puppy for the title alone!
ReplyDeleteAnd Shane always features the puppies, too. So much fun!
DeleteBlue Sisters definitely sounds like a "you" book. I love a story about sisters and these sisters have such different lives and circumstances. I'm intrigued.
