Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for
The Wedding People by Alison Espach

Goodreads
A propulsive and uncommonly wise novel about one unexpected wedding guest and the surprising people who help us start anew.
It's a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamt of coming for years―she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she's here without him. Meanwhile, the bride has accounted for every detail and every possible disaster the weekend might yield except for, well, Phoebe―which makes it that much more surprising when the women can’t stop confiding in each other.
In turns uproariously, absurdly funny and devastatingly tender, Alison Espach's The Wedding People is a look at the winding paths we can take to places we never imagined―and the chance encounters it sometimes takes to reroute us.
I am in love with the idea of a serendipitous meeting between Phoebe and the bride. Weddings can be great but also stressful, and I liked the idea of the universe delivering Phoebe to the wedding where she can support and bond with the bride. I also hope to find out more about why Phoebe is alone. I just sense there is a story there. This one has an intriguing cover, a fabulous setting, and buzzwords in the synopsis that are magnets for me. I feel good about this book.

I have this one on my TBR, too! I love stories about weddings and I can't resist the Newport, RI setting!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Newport, but I have been to RI. My mom went recently, and it is really lovely.
DeleteThis is one of my most anticipated reads of the year too. I loved her last novel Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance, so I can't wait to give this one a go.
ReplyDeleteLook at that! I have never read anything by this author, but if I like it, I would read more. Glad to hear you had a good experience with their work.
DeleteThis premise definitely piques my interest. I like how Phoebe gets pulled into the wedding event and I'm curious about her background.
ReplyDeleteSo curious about her background. Where is the husband? Why did she seek out this spot? Things I want to know
DeleteThat does sound like it would be a fun read for sure.
ReplyDeleteI feel like it will be fun but have some gravitas.
DeleteWell uproariously funny and devastatingly tender is all that I need to want to read a book Sam!
ReplyDeleteThose are my buzzwords
DeleteThat cover is interesting. Looking forward to your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised I was drawn to it. It's one of those "hot" books on all the lists, but I like the sound of it.
DeleteThis synopsis really called to me as well, Sam. Great choice as I am also waiting for this one.
ReplyDeleteI bet you read it before me. Hope it's great for us both.
