Top Ten Tuesday - New Year, New Beginning

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

New Year, New Beginning!

This week, we were to share some of our most anticipated books for this year. I feel like I have been doing this a lot lately, and therefore, decided to go a different route. One thing about a new year is that it offers us possibilites. We have the opportunity for fresh start should we need it, and keeping with that theme, I want to share some books that celebrate new beginnings. I adore books that chronicle a character's fresh start or comeback because I like to think that we can get unstuck and have a second (or third) chance to pursue the life we long for. Below are ten books that were wonderful and uplifting examples of this theme.

  1. The Second Chance Year by Melissa Wiesner
  2. The Lost and Found Bookshop by Susan Wiggs
  3.  Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes
  4. Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman
  5. Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

  1. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  2. The Little Italian Hotel by Pheadra Patrick
  3. The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman
  4. Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn
  5. Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center

  2. I love what you did with this topic! I think Carrie Soto is Back, The Midnight Library, and Georgie All Along fit perfectly into it. I know the others do as well if you picked those three. I also had to switch topics today because I felt like I would be giving the same books again.

    1. I like to spread the love around. Anticipated books are great. I share them every Wed, but I like to feature books I read even more

  8. Perfect theme for a new year! I've read HAPPINESS FOR BEGINNERS, but that's it from this list. I'll have to take a closer look at some of these.

    Happy TTT!

    1. It was so good! I think I say that after every Center book, but there was something about Helen and her strength and determination that just spoke to me

  10. Great idea! I love the feeling of motivation a new year always brings, that opportunity to make changes and begin fresh is always nice. I admit, I usually have grand plans and then a week into the month I manage to keep up doing about one of those things but still love a new year. I'm pretty sure i first heard of Katherine Center from one of the books you reviewed and I adored what I read. Happiness for Beginners is one I haven't gotten to yet but I need to read it so I can watch the fillm that's on Netflix and compare. I think this might be a sign I need to buy it.

    1. As I get older, I set the bar lower. Less disappointment that way. I have not seen the adaptation for Center's book, but Happiness is one of my favorites. Helen was making her comeback and I couldn't help but cheer her on
