It's time to celebrate my year in books. I will be spreading my favorites throughout a bunch of categories, but these are all favorites. For more of my favorites, check out my Five Star Friday posts. Today I will be sharing.....
Under the Radar Books!
I am always surprised when I find the most wonderful book, but it has so few ratings on Goodreads or I hear no buzz for the book. That's why I love to feature them! Today, I am sharing ten books I read and loved last year which fit this category . I guess you can call them hidden gems, but I would love to spread my love for them.

- The Bloom Girls by Amy Pine - 482 ratings

- Dog Days Forever by Shannon Richard - 164 ratings

Wow, some of those ratings are surprisingly low (in number). Come as You Are is one that has been on my radar ever since I saw your review. I remember liking the fact that the characters were older.
ReplyDeleteAND, the follow up to Come as You Are is coming out soon. I was excited to see that the author finally continued the series. A lot of times, I see low numbers for newer books, but many of these have been out for a while (some for years). I guess you can't read them all, but I love sharing some little known gems
DeleteI always enjoy finding a hidden gem and getting to post about it. I have only read one of these, Ten Years, but might take a look at some of the others. Always a great list to check out.
ReplyDeleteI think Ten Years will blow up because a big press is re-releasing it.
DeleteSome of the best books I read this year, had low ratings and reviews. There are so many hidden gems out there to discover. Glad these were such wins for you! Hope you discover some fabulous ones in 2024
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder about the low reviews. I am featuring a book this week that actually falls almost below my cut off of 2.5 stars, but I liked it.
DeleteThe Book of Silver Linings is on my list after that I fell in lovewith When Elephants Fly!
ReplyDeleteDid you read the other adult Nan Fischer book? I liked it even more than Silver Linings.
DeleteI love finding those hidden gems, too. I haven't read any of these, but I think favorite underrated book was The Prince and the Apocalypse.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed books from that author, but the genre switch wasn't for me, so I didn't read it. Glad to hear it was a hit for you.
DeleteI enjoyed Play For Me, too! The Bloom Girls sounded really good when you reviewed it. I need to request it from my library.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed all Hubscher's books. Play For Me may be my favorite, but I liked them all. I may have to breakdown and buy the next Bloom book. I want to know what happened with the sister.
DeleteY'know, I've only heard of some of these because I remember reading your reviews for them! This Is How It Started and The Book of Silver Linings look like reads I would enjoy so I'm going to add them to my TBR. Great list 😃
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of Finz before I found this book, but I am so glad I read it. A very moving story. I have been enjoying Nan Fischer's adult books and want to circle back to read her middle grades ones.
