It's time to celebrate my year in books. I will be spreading my favorites throughout a bunch of categories, but these are all favorites. For more of my favorites, check out my Five Star Friday posts. Today I will be sharing.....
Favorite Fiction!
I pretty much only read fiction, but I wanted to separate romance from other types of fiction. I didn't feel I read enough non-contemporary books to separate out SFF books, and then there is women's fiction, so I am putting them all together here. These books were ones that made me happy or left me with a lot to ponder. They were filled with great characters and made me feel so much. They have stayed with me for whatever reason, and that's why they are favorites.
- The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
- Love, Holly by Emily Stone
- At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities by Heather Webber
- The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
- Happy Place by Emily Henry
- On Fire Island by Jane L. Rosen
- Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
- The Mostly True Story of Tanner & Louise by Colleen Oakley
- The Love Wager by Lynn Painter
- Once More with Feeling by Elissa Sussman

The Love Wager would make one of my favorite romances this year. I adored it!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy Painter's books. I feel like I can't go wrong with them
DeleteVera Wong looks so fun
ReplyDeleteIt was. She is a phenomenal character
DeleteLove your picks there and that you separate this from romance. I do think Romance is their own category from other fiction lol I am thinking though of next year for my choice awards to put in women's fiction as its definitely growing in popularity.
ReplyDeleteA few books I would consider romance did make this list, but I wanted to give myself more slots for romance books. HA! I know that I personally read a lot of "women's" fiction these days. Many tend to have strong romantic subplots which satisfy the romance reader in me while chronicling the character's personal journey in the spotlight.
DeleteVera Wong is on a lot of "best" lists this year. I'm glad everybody loved it!
ReplyDeleteShe was just such a memorable character, and the book was so fun. I enjoyed it immensely.
DeleteTanner and Louise & Vera Wong were both fantastic books!
ReplyDeleteThe characters really made those special. So glad you enjoyed them too
DeleteI'm still waiting on Happy Place to release in paperback :) There are several on this list I would like to check out. If I wind up loving Better Than the Movies, I'll pick up The Love Wager next!
ReplyDeleteThe Love Wager is adult romance, but all Painter's books have her signature humor and charm. Fingers crossed you adore BTTM
DeleteI really loved The Good Part - Sophie Cousens always has the most interesting premises.
ReplyDeleteShe has surprised me with each of her books, too. I am a solid fan, for sure.
DeleteI loved several on this list too! Vera Wong, Happy Place, True Love Experiment and Tanner and Louise!
ReplyDeleteAll so good. These are all authors I have read many times before, and I was happy they did not disappoint.
DeleteI have not read any of these, but I think I want to! Definitely Happy Place and Vera Wong, and probably Tanner & Louise- I do love a road trip!
ReplyDeleteI think you would like Tanner & Louise. There are story elements I know you would appreciate.
DeleteI have only read three of these, but have another 4 on my TBR. I need to make a list of your top books that are on my TBR and get them read early in the year. Great choices.
ReplyDeleteI just realized these are all authors I have read before, and honestly, I adore thir books.
DeleteGreat list!! I absolutely adored The True Love Experiment in particular!
ReplyDeleteCLo never disappoints, and I know I was excited to return to that world.
DeleteI loved The True Love Experiment, Happy Place, Tanner and Louise and Vera Wong too Sam!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see we both enjoyed them so much
DeleteI've got Vera Wong and True Love Experiment on my Kindle already but I'm also keen to check out pretty much all of the others you've mentioned. Tanner & Louise especially looks like such a fun time 😍 Great list, Sam!
ReplyDeleteDini! You need to read those books. I think you will adore Vera. She's such a great character, and a CLo book is always fun. Tanner & Louise is my push book of 2023. Such a great story.
