Making Headlines!
Happy Tuesday! Today, we were challenged to find book titles that could be headlines. I thought this was going to be so difficult, but as I scanned my read-shelf, I easily found ten titles I could imagine seeing in newspapers. Many are punny, as those are the headlines that tend to grab my attention. Some have a bit of drama, but mostly, I could think of news stories that would fit each title.
- Desire or Defense by Leah Brunner
- Penelope in Retrograde by Brooke Adams
- Secret Santa Face-Off by Victoria Denault
- Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey
- Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- Sweet Sorrow by David Nicholls
- The Love Plot by Samantha Young
- Unnecessary Drama by Nine Kenwood
- The Takedown by Carlie Walker
- Beverly Bonnefinche is Dead by Kristen Seeley
What titles do you think fit this prompt?

I love all of your choices, especially The Takedown and Wreck the Halls. I can easily imagine several news stories those would be fitting for.
ReplyDeleteI get the NY Post, and they are always doing punny headlines, so Wreck jumped out at me.
DeleteSecret Santa Face-Off sounds like a great newspaper headline !
ReplyDeleteI can almost see the photo that would accompany that story
DeleteI'd read a news article called Desire or Defense. It's either a sports story or a true crime murder story. :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking true crime. You know how the husband always did it
DeleteEvidence of the Affair is excellent. Love the whole design of the cover too- makes me think of California in the 70's.
ReplyDeleteI think it was California in the 70s. It was an excellent short story. I liked the dual meaning of the title.
DeleteEvidence of the Affair and The Takedown sound perfect!
ReplyDeleteThose make me think of political news stories for some reason
DeleteUnnecessary Drama fits this theme for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat's every story, every day
DeleteAll of these make great headlines. I especially love the Beverly one.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I could plug in a famous person's name, and it's a headline I have already seen.
DeleteI can definitely see these as headlines to fun, feel-good kinds of stories! Well, maybe not the last one...LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Some, definitely, but a few feel true crime-ish to me
DeleteI didn't participate this week, but the one that came to my mind right away was The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good one!
DeleteI'm happy to hear you had an easier time with this one than I did. Great choices, Sam!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised, but I bet you had ones on your read shelf that would fit
