My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week. I am super excited about today for two reasons. One, my dad is having his last radiation treatment and will start chemo next week, and two, my daughter is flying home tonight. I will be asleep when she gets in, but I have something to look forward to Monday morning. I am off Monday, too, for a doctor's appointment, so we will get some time together.
This past week was sort of a blur. Thursday, we had a potluck at work. I always volunteer to bring paper goods because I don't want to carry a food item on the train and bus. I was wowed by the culinary excellence and tasty items my coworkers brought. I was said that it was on Thursday because while other people were being social, I had to review the 1798 complaints the bank sent over. It had to be done for Friday morning.
After I finished this week's report, I split last week's with another workflow coordinator. There was an issue last week, and we were trying to get a manual pull since last Wednesday. We finally get it after I was gone on Thursday. I took the first 1000 which I started reviewing about 9 am. Keep in mind, we were short handed with two coordinators out. At about 2:50, I am researching one of the complaints on the report, and I find a complaint on file for the client. While I am reviewing, I realize, it's the same complaint. I look, and the bank sent us the wrong dates. I was livid!!! So much time wasted. So, yeah, Friday was frustrating.
Since my daughter is coming in tonight, I am trying to get everything ready. Yesterday, I cleaned, washed towels, bedding, changed the sheets, etc. I decided to go to Target because they always have my milk. I don't usually go in the late afternoon, and now I remember why. It was packed! The lines to checkout where 20 deep. I waited on line longer than it took for me to shop. BUT, I do have this whole day free, a plus.

Stacking the Shelves
Got a bunch of great invites this week. I know two were Read Now on Netgalley, but I like having the widget, so I have time to decide if I will download or not. Savor It, Rules for Second Chances, and A Northern Light in Provence were all on my TBR, so chances are good I will download those.
I also got two approvals. Jennifer Mathieu is the latest YA author crossing over to adult romance, and Dad Camp just sounded like a lot of fun.
Netgalley/Edelweiss

Read Last Week
I had a solid week. Nothing knocked me out, but Raiders of the Lost Heart came close. I was worried by early reviews, but I loved it. The science, the action and adventure along with the romance and great characters had me captivated. I laughed a lot too. The ending seemed to set it up for a sequel, and it would be great to accompany this couple on more adventures.

Love, Just In is a friends-to-lovers romance. The heroine suffers from health anxiety which is a form of OCD and new to me. It's light on that aspect focusing heavily on the couple, their past, and the romance.
I had to read a romance written before 2010 for a reading challenge, so I thought I would read the Lucky Harbor books I missed. I read several of the books years ago. It's Shalvis, so all her signature elements are there, though I feel there is more sex in this book than her more recent releases. It's still good.
- Love, Just In by Natalie Murphy
- Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis (audiobook)
To Be Read
- Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey
- The Rom Con by Devon Daniels
- Make My Wish Come True by Kathia
- Even If It Breaks Your Heart by Erin Hahn

I'm glad you have some things to look forward to this week! That's exciting! Sorry work was so frustrating Friday. That is always awful. Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am not working tomorrow because I am still mad about Friday
DeleteI hope you can soak up that time with your daughter. I'm glad your dad is almost done with part of his treatment.
ReplyDeleteThe radiation always wipes him out, so it's good that it's over. I hope it did something to the tumor.
DeleteOMG I would have been livid too Sam!!! Now I hope you'll have a lovely time with your daughter and yay for your father! I hope he'll soon be out of the woods!
ReplyDeleteI hate wasting time (I also hate reviewing the bank complaints). Still mad. The cancer is incurable, but we are hoping to slow it down.
DeleteSo glad your daughter is coming in for the holiday! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteShe should be on her way to O'Hare right now. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
DeleteThat's great that your daughter's coming home, and congrats to your dad. I hope all goes well. And have a nice Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteLove, Just In sounds nice.
It's nice to clear one of the medical milestones. I hope you and yours have a great holiday as well.
DeleteGrocery stores and Target are all packed because of Thanksgiving! My husband braved them while I had my hair done on Saturday. He's a saint! I hope you enjoy your visit with your daughter. It is work getting ready for company, right? Wonderful news about your father!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Raiders of the Lost Heart as well!
I don't know about that for Target. Few people on line with me were buying food items. I think it's just that crowded in the afternoon because it's that way every time I go later. The mall was popping too and it is right across the street from Target. The whole area was my nightmare.
DeleteSorry about the work frustrations, but I hope you have tons of fun with your daughter! I'm scared of shopping right now because I know all the stores will be chaotic this week. I hope I can avoid them.
ReplyDeleteI feel like all the shops will be chaotic until after Christmas. I have to get back to being at the stores when they open.
DeleteYay for your dad finishing radiation up! Prayers that he handles the chemo well and for healing. And yay for the time with your daughter!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Alison. He did ok with the chemo last time, and it's the same chemo (except it's a pill this time!!). His doctor was actually profiled in the news for his work with cancer.
DeleteOof that is frustrating! We've started decorating the house for the holidays. I got the lights on the roof before rain stopped me from finishing outside. We head out to the lake cabin for Thanksgiving on Wednesday night, so I'm finishing up all of my shopping today!
ReplyDeleteI think this is the time of year when people try to utilize those "nice days" to get the house decorated. Safe travels and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
DeleteLooks like you are getting reading for Thanksgiving week! I hope you have a blast with your family! Ilsa Madden Mills writes some fun ones. Hope you enjoy that one there.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The Mills book was fun. I enjoyed it
DeleteGreat week! Other than the complaint debacle. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Sam
ReplyDeleteAnd the complaint saga continues....Thank you, Karen! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving as well.
DeleteI'm glad you get some time off to spend with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely nice to have a bit of time with the kid
DeleteThat is great news about your dad and I know how much will enjoy having your daughter around. I am sorry that you wasted so much time! I hate it when things like that happen. I cannot wait to read Raiders of the Lost Heart. I might tackle it this week!
ReplyDeleteI know he's happy to be done with radiation. My number one pet peeve is when people waste my time, so it was a tough day Friday. I had so much fun reading Raiders. I hope you enjoy it!
DeleteSending well-wishes for your dad, though I saw you mention in a reply to a previous comment that the cancer is incurable. I didn't know that, and I'm so sorry. I hope the treatments can at least buy him lots of time in reasonably good health. Also sorry for the work ordeal. At least you have Kiersten home now.
ReplyDeleteLOL, we should probably all vote for Rick (that song was huge in Italy as well at the time!).
Yeah, no cure this time, but we hope to get a few more years. I will be so glad tomorrow afternoon to not have to deal with work until next week. I don't usually feel that way, but this was situation was/is frustrating. I think I was 14 or so when that song came out, but it's a banger for sure. Not surprised to hear Rick was big overseas as well.
DeleteSo sorry you had a tough week at work. As usual I am reading this late, so I hope you had a wonderful time with your daughter, Sam. I will pray for you dad and hope his treatment goes well.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is still here which is nice. We have a few more days, but she comes back for Christmas. I appreciate the prayers, Carla
