Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! This was such a great week. Mostly because I only worked two days and only went into the office once. Monday, I had off for my doctor's appointment. He asked me if I wanted to do surgery again to clear out the scar tissue. That was a big NO for me. I am not in pain, I am uncomfortable. I have no desire to be off my feet for a month, and there is always a risk of scar tissue with any surgery, meaning, a second surgery might not even work. The injections have been working, but it was too soon to do any more by around the big tow. I will get those in January, and hopefully, they do the trick.

Tuesday I went into the office. The saga of the missing report continued, but this time, the manual pull was correct. I reviewed over 3,000 complaints in three days. I don't want to see that report for at least three weeks. The icing on the cake on Tuesday was an accident that made the shuttle ride go from 12 minutes to almost an hour. We missed two trains, and I got home about an hour late. The weird part was that the cars were already cleared. I really hate rubber neckers and people who don't know how to merge.

Thursday, we went to my aunt's a bit south of here. I hadn't seen her and my cousin since the last family funeral. It was nice to be together for something a bit happier. My aunt did an amazing job with all the food - there was SO MUCH. I have been making Thanksgiving sandwiches every day since. I love them!

Yesterday, we went to my sister's since we didn't see her for Thanksgiving. I hadn't been to her house in over a year, so it's always interesting seeing all the changes. She liked to update her decor often. Saturday, we went to Benihana. I haven't been there in a really long time and it's one of my daughter's favorite restaurants. My thing is that Benihana is such a big time commitment. It's good though. I didn't get hibachi, it's way too much food, but they have great rolls and apps too.

Stacking the Shelves

No much this week, but I did get an invite. It's a companion for A Cat Cafe Christmas which was very sweet.

Read Last Week

I finally had another 5-star book! I wasn't surprised it was Erin Hahn's upcoming young adult release since I have loved all her young adult books. It was a winning combination of characters, setting, and story. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the rodeo elements as well. That's a new world for me.

Loving Mom Com! It's a really fun and touching story about second chances. I do feel it's light on the romance, but I still am invested in their two getting closure on their past and moving forward together.

I am excited that Kennedy decided to spin off from the Off Campus books and that they feature the next generation. This one focuses on Garrett and Hannah's daughter, Gigi. So far, it's a lot of fun, and I loved Gigi. There is a lot of drama with the men's hockey teams from Briar and a rival college merge, but I am really eager to hear more about Gigi's hopes of making the US Olympic team.

  1. So glad you got some great family time this week! And lots of good food. And yay for short weeks at work - is it just me or is it nicer when the days off come at the end of the workweek?

    1. I don't care where the days off come. I like anything that results in less days of commuting.

  2. I am glad you had a good week sam! And that lab video made me laugh so hard!

  3. I hate traffic delays and rubber neckers! I hope the shots help your foot. Glad to hear you had a nice week working only two days, even dealing with 3000 complaints! Ack! Sounds like you had nice family visits all the way around. I was just talking about Benihana last night. I love the grill and the sauces! My family loves sushi and I hate it, but I love that kind of Japanese dining.

    1. Most of the Japanese places I go to have both. I got a roll last night while my dad and daughter got hibachi. Everyone can be happy.

  4. Glad you got some free time and family time this week. I have never been to benihana but I don't think there is one near me. I'm such a picky eater it would probably be a disaster for me. Hopefully you have a great week!

    1. You get a lot of choices if you get hibachi, plus they have the kitchen menu too. I got salad, a dragon roll, veggie tempura, and everyone else got hibachi. I feel like they have a little something for everyone (unless you like Asian food)

  5. I've been eating leftovers too for DAYS. We had so much food this year. Ye gads. The hibachi sounds good, I've never had sushi (I know) but love Asian so I'd probably like it.

    1. I used to get sushi a lot when I lived in Florida, but I only get a roll (cooked) every once and a while up here. I have no sushi friends any longer. Yes, leftovers. We are about through our's since we didn't cook. I like our Christmas food better.

  6. I wouldn't want another surgery either.
I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.

    1. No way are they cutting me open again. I can deal with this. I just have to get used to it.

  7. It sounds like you had a nice time with family. I'm sorry your foot is still uncomfortable and there doesn't seem to be much they can do at this point. I love that you found a North Dakota book!

    1. I feel like I cheated with that book. It was so awkward as an audiobook too. Some parts were better than others, and well, it was a children't book, so, super short. I can rest easy for another year

  8. Sounds like you hade a great week with your family! We spend the holiday at my husband's family lake house, surrounded by way too much food and beautiful scenery. There was some damage to our live christmas tree that was delivered last week, so they sent us a new one this week. We're getting it all decorated today, but now I have to figure out what to do with the other tree lol.

    1. Sounds like a wonderful holiday getaway. Two trees. Maybe you can make swags or wreaths. I don't know, how crafty are you?

  9. I'm glad you had such a great week and so much quality time with your family. I don't blame you on saying no to that surgery, especially if there's no guarantee it would work. I see you read the first Peachtree Bluff book. I really love that series!

    1. Exactly! You can get scar tissue every time they cut you open. I have the second Peachtree book on hold. I didn't expect the storylines to carry over, but that's ok.

  10. Hiiiii, I'm so late on this! Anyway...

Wise choice about the foot...also, it's not like it's a body part where a scar counts for much...now if only they can do something to ease your pain and better your mobility...

"I reviewed over 3,000 complaints in three days"
😮 How does it even work? It sounds like an obscene number for three days of work...And yay, the commute nightmare is back 😬 .

    1. It's the scar tissue on the inside that is causing the issue and wrapping around the nerve in my foot. Not pain, but odd sensations and discomfort. It's annoying, but only in the big toe right now. In another week, I will be reviewing that complaint report again. It's punishing.

  11. It sounds like you had a great thanksgiving, Sam. I have scar tissue in my shoulder from my surgery and it has been causing pain lately, but I can live with it. I do not want to be cut open again. I read The Big Finish a year or so ago and enjoyed it, I hope you do as well.

    1. Right? There isn't even a guarantee that opening my foot back up with fix the problem. I could get more scar tissue. Life without my right foot was punishing too. No thanks. I couldn't get into Big Finish, but it could have just been my mood. I needed something different at the time.
