Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! It was another rather uneventful week in my life. I had mentioned that I was going to the theatre last week, and The Great Gatsby lived up to its name. The sets, the costumes, the music, and performances were all amazing.

I had Monday off and ran errands. Left at 6 am, got gas for the first time in over a month, went to the dealership for service at 6:30 am, then food shopping, then Target, then the library to renew my card - all before 10 am. I read the rest of the day. It was very relaxing. Saturday, my sister came for a visit which was nice. She told us about this deli a bit south of here called The Pickled Herring, and we are heading there (Saturday) to see how it is.

Stacking the Shelves

The end of the year is always so slow when it comes to ARCs. I did cave and download the upcoming Lucy Gilmore book. I was so charmed by her last release, and I think this will be more of that. Obviously, I had to download this month's free Romance Readers book. It's hockey romances which are my favorites.

Read Last Week

I don't know what it is. I am reading great books, and they come close, but no five-star reads. I have grown to expect high ratings for Painter's book, but Richard was new to me. I found Dog Days to be delightful. Pups and a second chance romance in a great small town kept me happy. I also enjoyed Deja Glitch. It's not a true time loop book because the story plays out in one day as the book's hero tries to get the heroine to fall in love with him and break the loop. I thought James did a great job with this time loop twist.

Currently Reading

I was a TBR failure last week, and it's because I remembered my TBR incorrectly. I finished The Changeup on the train, and for some reason, I thought Wildfire was next. It should have been The Good Part which I am almost done with. I have read quite a few time travel/wish type books, but there is something fresh about the way Cousens is letting this play out. I especially love the main character's son, and his quest to help him mom return to her timeline.

I saw Ghosting on Hoopla and thought it would be fun and festive, and it totally is. Sivec's books always make me laugh, but I am growing impatient as I wait for the hero to make his move. Loving it though.

  2. Even though you had no five star ratings, you had some solid ratings there. I didn't have a five star read either. Hopefully this upcoming week we will find some five stars! Look at you being so productive. I love it when you have errands and you get them done early.

    1. Absolutely solid. No stinkers or DNFs which is an indication of a good week for me. I finished The Good Part and it earned all the stars. Loved it!

  3. "went to the dealership for service at 6:30 am"
They are open at that hour?!? Yikes. I would never happen here.

That dog video made me chuckle a lot. Adorable!

You've had a stream of 4.5/4 star books, so it does count as a good week...in my book 😂.

    1. I always try to get the first spot, no matter the appointment (Dr, Dentist, etc). Then, I don't have to worry about them being backed up. In and out.

    1. Painter has yet to disappoint me. I do understand some of the negatives I have seen, especially when it came to digging deeper with Charlie, but it was still super entertaining

    1. I didn't read the first Maple Hills book, but my daughter liked it. I can attest to how likable the group of characters are though. I enjoyed them. So far, Beau is cute. The town it's set in is really fun and festive.

  14. Glad you had some good books.
Since living in Vegas for the last 35 years I like that I can find stores, shops, restaurants and other places open at 3am. Especially in the Summer time it's nice. So finding a shop open at 6:30am was nice.
