My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! It was another rather uneventful week in my life. I had mentioned that I was going to the theatre last week, and The Great Gatsby lived up to its name. The sets, the costumes, the music, and performances were all amazing.
I had Monday off and ran errands. Left at 6 am, got gas for the first time in over a month, went to the dealership for service at 6:30 am, then food shopping, then Target, then the library to renew my card - all before 10 am. I read the rest of the day. It was very relaxing. Saturday, my sister came for a visit which was nice. She told us about this deli a bit south of here called The Pickled Herring, and we are heading there (Saturday) to see how it is.

Stacking the Shelves
The end of the year is always so slow when it comes to ARCs. I did cave and download the upcoming Lucy Gilmore book. I was so charmed by her last release, and I think this will be more of that. Obviously, I had to download this month's free Romance Readers book. It's hockey romances which are my favorites.

Read Last Week
I don't know what it is. I am reading great books, and they come close, but no five-star reads. I have grown to expect high ratings for Painter's book, but Richard was new to me. I found Dog Days to be delightful. Pups and a second chance romance in a great small town kept me happy. I also enjoyed Deja Glitch. It's not a true time loop book because the story plays out in one day as the book's hero tries to get the heroine to fall in love with him and break the loop. I thought James did a great job with this time loop twist.

I was a TBR failure last week, and it's because I remembered my TBR incorrectly. I finished The Changeup on the train, and for some reason, I thought Wildfire was next. It should have been The Good Part which I am almost done with. I have read quite a few time travel/wish type books, but there is something fresh about the way Cousens is letting this play out. I especially love the main character's son, and his quest to help him mom return to her timeline.
I saw Ghosting on Hoopla and thought it would be fun and festive, and it totally is. Sivec's books always make me laugh, but I am growing impatient as I wait for the hero to make his move. Loving it though.
- The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
- Stop Ghosting Me by Tara Sivec (audiobook)
To Be Read
- Wrapped Up with a Beau by Lillie Vale
- Do Your Worst by Rosie Danen
- Four Weddings and a Puppy by Lizzie Shane
- Well Hung by Lauren Blakely

I finally did! Cousens came through in a big way
DeleteEven though you had no five star ratings, you had some solid ratings there. I didn't have a five star read either. Hopefully this upcoming week we will find some five stars! Look at you being so productive. I love it when you have errands and you get them done early.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely solid. No stinkers or DNFs which is an indication of a good week for me. I finished The Good Part and it earned all the stars. Loved it!
Delete"went to the dealership for service at 6:30 am"
ReplyDeleteThey are open at that hour?!? Yikes. I would never happen here.
That dog video made me chuckle a lot. Adorable!
You've had a stream of 4.5/4 star books, so it does count as a good week...in my book 😂.
I always try to get the first spot, no matter the appointment (Dr, Dentist, etc). Then, I don't have to worry about them being backed up. In and out.
DeleteGlad you had a productive day off! The dog video is just joyful! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful to the person who put that compilation together. Those dogs are precious
DeleteWay to make the most of your free day and still have plenty of reading time! Also that video with the dogs had me smiling...a lot!
ReplyDeleteGotta get stuff done when I can. I get holidays off, but most things are closed. Yes, those pups were the best
DeleteI love a good deli. And a good play as well. I always feel good after seeing a really good theater performance. Something about art...
ReplyDeleteThis place was great. I got a pastrami ruben. So good
DeleteYou got a lot accomplished on your day off with time for reading and relaxing! Sounds like a win to me! I'm looking forward to Wildfire and Do Your Worst.
ReplyDeleteWildfire was cute. I really loved the cast and the setting.
DeleteA day off work to run errands sounds great! Especially since you were finished early in the day and had extra time to read. I loved Dog Days Forever and do hope to read more of her work in the future.
ReplyDeleteI thought Dog Days was precious. I was so happy at the end.
DeleteSounds like you had a good week. I am happy to see you enjoyed Painter's book, but I expected no less. Have a great week!
ReplyDeletePainter has yet to disappoint me. I do understand some of the negatives I have seen, especially when it came to digging deeper with Charlie, but it was still super entertaining
DeleteYour day off sounds so nice! Love getting a bunch of chores done and then getting to relax the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteI wake up early, so I like getting everything out of the way early
DeleteYour TBR for this week looks delightful!
ReplyDeleteFinally got a 5-star book with Cousens
DeleteYay for a day off. Those are always nice. And I'm glad the theater was enjoyable.

Thanks!
DeleteWell, you had a bunch of almost 5 stars, so not too shabby of a reading week. Glad you got in a visit with your sister.
ReplyDeleteAnd Cousens got 5! I was so excited. She always surprises me.
DeleteMy hold on Wildfire just came in and I'm so excited to binge the first book and that one! Here's hoping I enjoy them as much as you! And I can't wait to hear what you think of Wrapped Up with a Beau since I am always looking for more holiday books to add to my tbr this time of the year!
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the first Maple Hills book, but my daughter liked it. I can attest to how likable the group of characters are though. I enjoyed them. So far, Beau is cute. The town it's set in is really fun and festive.
DeleteGlad you had some good books.
ReplyDeleteSince living in Vegas for the last 35 years I like that I can find stores, shops, restaurants and other places open at 3am. Especially in the Summer time it's nice. So finding a shop open at 6:30am was nice.
That is definitely a great place for night owls.
DeleteThat sounded like a really nice, chill week. I loved Gilmore's last one too and I cna't wait for this one.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
I enjoyed Gilmore's contemporary romances, but her last book was something special. I hope for more of that
DeleteOooh, The Great Gatsby would be wonderful live! I'm currently reading The Good Part and loving it, as well. Happy reading, Sam!
ReplyDeleteYES! So glad you are liking The Good Part. Fingers crossed it holds up for you through the end. I loved it!
