My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great week. So, what happened this week? I went to the doctor and got more injections in my foot. The last two times were along the incision, and there was improvement, but this time, the injections were around the joint and the big toe where I still have numbness. I don't know if anything is happing yet because it's still really sore from the shots, but I am trying to be optimistic. I got my orthotics too. They don't fit in all my shoes. So far, I can only get them into my Allbirds. I will have to work that out.
Today, we are going to see The Great Gatsby at Paper Mill. It's a musical, and I was pretty excited to see that Jeremy Jordan would be playing Jay Gatsby. You might remember him from Newsies, but he has done a lot of stage work. I am burning a vacation day tomorrow and have a bunch of chores planned. Getting my 30-month car check-up, and I guess I need to renew my library card because I cannot check out any books from the eLibrary.

Not much to report this week. I had a ton of library books come through, but not many approvals. I only have 2 outstanding for 2024 releases. BUT, I did see the upcoming Jenny Holiday book as Read Now. I have enjoyed books from Holiday in the past, and this one sounds really fun. I love the idea that the heroine's fake Canadian boyfriend from her teens returns to her life. Let the games begin, right?

Read Last Week
I had a great reading week. One book didn't wow me the way I thought it would, but my reading was still solid. I am not quite sure which was my favorite, as I had quite a few 4.5 star reads. Grace Adams had a great story structure which really amplified the emotional punch once all was revealed. Sister of the Bride was so much fun! And along with Imogen Finch, I got to read two great romances featuring my favorite trope, friends-to-lovers. The Rules of Magic was another standout. I hate that it took me so long to listen to this one, but wow! What a roller coaster ride through the years with this family.

Deja Glitch is really good! The hero is in a time loop, and he tries to get the heroine to remember him. Though it appears to be his time loop, the story focuses more on the heroine's personal journey. I am aout 65% through and very invested in where this story goes.
I just started Camden, but it's from a series I love, and you know, hockey romances are my thing.

Fingers crossed that the latest rounds of shots help. A Great Gatsby musical sounds interesting. I hope you enjoy Camden. It was of my favorites in the series. I loved the relationship development in that one.
ReplyDeleteOne of your favorites? Ooooh. I am only 20 minutes in, but I like that we are getting one of the lucky threes stories.
DeleteI hope your foot keeps improving...bummer for the shoes though. I hope something can be worked out.
ReplyDeleteI have two pairs that I had bought bigger than my actual shoe size, so I can wear those.
DeleteRenewing your library card is annoying haha because you just don't know when it will happen. Mine is so sporadic. lol I love anything The Great Gatsby. Glad you are falling in love with so many hockey romances. They are definitely well loved currently. Hope you have a wonderful week darling!
ReplyDeleteI just wish the error message told me to renew the card, or that I would get an email reminding me. It stinks when you lose holds because the library card needs to be renewed, and I only use electronic loans. I have always loved hockey romances. I have been reading those for a decade.
DeleteEnjoy your show today!! And your vacation day tomorrow - sometimes it's nice just to have a day to get things done.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The show was great!
DeleteI hope your foot will keep improving after these injections! Also... that bear!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing seeing all these bears who do such things. He's up there with the one that has been going to a California shop for years, taking snacks whenever he pleases
DeleteI hope your foot improves!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI hope the usical was good! How fun. And that bear... oh my.
ReplyDeleteThe show was so good! The sets, costumes, and actors were amazing
DeleteI really hope that your feet start feeling better soon. It is horrible to go through so much and still be left with pain. That bear seemed to know just where to go, didn't he? I hope that you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if there is a light at the end of the tunnel or not, but I can't say I didn't try with my foot. That bear is fantastic. I keep seeing these videos that have me convinced they are becoming quite domesticated.
DeleteI like making poems out of book titles. I need to post some of those on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
That's a pretty fun thing to do.
DeleteI hope the shots work, Sam! It can be discouraging to have an ongoing health issue that is a puzzle and is so impactful to your everyday life. Sorry you're having to deal with it! That bear, lol! I was offered Canadian Boyfriend and I think I'll download it as well. I can't believe you've read all your 2023 ARCs! I wish I could say the same thing. I'm behind as usual.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy The Great Gatsby!
The Great Gatsby was excellent. So visually appealing, and the actors were fantastic. I have not read all my 2023 ARCs, but it's light for the rest of the year. I don't have a lot of pending approvals though (none for 2023 releases). It's why I sit on those widgets. I think about downloading.
DeleteI hope the musical was awesome and your foot feels better. I also hope you're having a great week. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, AJ. The musical was great!
DeleteI hope the latest round of shots helps with your foot. The Great Gatsby as a musical? I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope I don't have to get any more injections, but it took two rounds for the other part of my foot. --sigh-- I was very impressed with Gatsby. Actors were great, music was great, sets and costumes were beautiful. I was really happy with this show
DeleteThat musical sounds fantastic! Hope you loved it!! And that bear video was so funny. Made me wonder why they had a camera set up like that though - I wonder if it had happened before and they were trying to solve a mystery?
ReplyDeleteGatsby was great! I hope it makes its way to Broadway. I never think of that stuff with the cameras. I often see the doorbell cameras, but you're right. Maybe the owners have had issues before?
DeleteI hope your foot feels better and that the musical was amazing. I adored Betting on You, and I know you will.
ReplyDeleteGatsby was so good. I was really impressed. I am almost done with Betting on You. I am ready to throttle Charlie, but I know he will wise up
DeletePrayers that the injections work!! And I hope The Great Gatsby musical is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ali! I may need a second pass, but I think there is improvement. Gatsby was wonderful! I hope it tours or hit Broadway because it was really good
DeleteGlad the musical was a hit! It's been a very long time since I've seen one live. Fingers crossed that the improvements continue increasing!
DeleteI hope the injections help! I've gotten injections in my knee. They're painful in the moment, but they do give me some relief from the pain.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping they get the scar tissue to back off the nerve because the sensations are making me batty.
DeleteHappy to see you enjoyed The Rules of Magic! I have The Good Part coming up soon, as well. Hopefully we both enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteFunny story, I was supposed to start The Good Part, but apparently forgot. I finished my book on the train, and for some reason, thought one of my library books was next. Oh, well, I will be reading it this weekend.
