Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Adriana Mather comes a heartwarming tale of love, family, and pastry perfection.
Maddi DeLuca is coming home for the holidays with her nine-year-old son, only it’s not the triumphant return she might have hoped for. She recently broke down on a reality TV baking show, letting the entire country know she feels like a colossal failure. And she can be certain her mother will remind her of all the ways she hasn’t lived up to expectations over the years.
Ten years ago, all Maddi dreamt of was running her father’s beloved bakery in their tiny coastal town of Haverberry Cove, MA. Her best friend, Wilder Buenaventura, had his own dream—a life with Maddi. And for one brilliant moment when they were seventeen, those dreams collided. They baked together. They loved each other insatiably. But like a fallen soufflé, their relationship imploded, taking their lifelong friendship with it.
If she had her way, Maddi would have stayed in California, hiding her head in its beautiful white sands. But at her mother’s request, she has returned to her hometown to help deal with an urgent matter concerning her father’s will and his nostalgia-filled bakery. What Maddi doesn’t know is that this issue also mysteriously involves the one person she’s spent forever trying to forget—Wilder. Now she finds herself forced to make an impossible give up her father’s bakery and her lifelong dream, or find a way to coexist with Wilder without murdering him with a cookie cutter.
I am a HUGE fan of Mather's young adult books. As with all the others who crossed over, I am eager to see how her talent translated to the adult contemporary genre. We all also know that I like fun and funny books. I hope the "Com" in the title is no lie because I am expecting a good dose of humor and hijinks from this one. It also about a single mom who returns home for the holidays following a public breakdown. I already want to root for this mom, and I am looking forward to the bakery setting, and let's be honest, I better be reading about some wonderful backed goods.

A city girl can survive…
Or at least that’s what New Yorker Frances Genovese hopes when she agrees to stay in Morning Glory, Mississippi for a few weeks after her brother’s wedding. Though she may not know much about small-town living, she does know a thing or two about the new restaurant her brother’s building. But she didn’t bargain for a big country boy naysaying her vision. And she darn sure didn’t expect to be so attracted to the infuriating contractor.
Clem Aiken knows two things: what it means to be a country boy and the target market for the new eatery. When he and Frances clash on her ideas, he figures there’s one thing to do – teach the sophisticated beauty what it’s like to live in a southern small town. Frances reluctantly gives Clem three days to change her mind about the restaurant design. After all, how hard can it be to bait a hook, fry chicken or go honky tonkin’?
Opposites attract in this warm, fun novella set in Morning Glory.
I started looking into this series as Morning Glory is in Mississippi, a state that I struggle with each year for my reading challenge. What I found out is that most of these books have the people leaving Morning Glory for other places. But don't fear, here someone is coming TO Morning Glory. Obviously, I am looking forward to checking MS off my reading challenge, but I am also excited to learn more about this little town. Talley is an author I have seen around, often, and I am interested to sample her work as well.
Let us know in the comments!
These both sound like great reads!
ReplyDeleteTalley's book was so fun! I anticipate reading more books from this series.
DeleteBefore I got to your comments I had wondered if Prince Not Quite Charming had gained your attention because of the setting. Hope it's a winner!
ReplyDeleteIt checked my MS box, but I also really loved it. It's odd, the series is about these women from Morning Glory, MS, but then they all take place outside MS. That's why I ended up reading the novella. Someone comes to Morning Glory and finds her prince.
DeleteI'm loving the blurb for Mom Com. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!
ReplyDeleteI am always eager to see how my YA faves do in the adult world.

ReplyDeleteSame. One of my two favorite tropes.
