Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for

Have you ever had a break-up so bad you wish the whole relationship had never happened?
Well, Gemma's wish has come true. After one too many margaritas lead to her mystical aunt reading out a drunken spell, she wakes up in a parallel world where she didn't give years of her life to the wrong man.
But you know what they say - be careful what you wish for... Because not only is her boring ex out of the picture, her extremely attractive male best friend also has no idea who she is.
And in this world, Gemma and Dax don't have years of friendship history keeping them from becoming something more...
Brimming with characters you can't help but fall for and off-the-charts chemistry, This Spells Love is a spellbinding friends-to-lovers, small-town rom-com.
This sounds a bit Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but funnier. I have read quite a few books like this where a character is seeking to erase part of their life. Here, Gemma wants to forget the her ex, but she appears to have some buyer's remorse after her wish is granted. I am interested to see the ripple effect, and I can see the potential for lots of comedic moments.

The enchanting story of a bookshop, its grieving owner, a supportive literary community, and the extraordinary power of books to heal the heart
Nightingale Books, nestled on the main street in an idyllic little village, is a dream come true for book lovers--a cozy haven and welcoming getaway for the literary-minded locals. But owner Emilia Nightingale is struggling to keep the shop open after her beloved father's death, and the temptation to sell is getting stronger. The property developers are circling, yet Emilia's loyal customers have become like family, and she can't imagine breaking the promise she made to her father to keep the store alive.
There's Sarah, owner of the stately Peasebrook Manor, who has used the bookshop as an escape in the past few years, but it now seems there's a very specific reason for all those frequent visits. Next is roguish Jackson, who, after making a complete mess of his marriage, now looks to Emilia for advice on books for the son he misses so much. And the forever shy Thomasina, who runs a pop-up restaurant for two in her tiny cottage--she has a crush on a man she met in the cookbook section, but can hardly dream of working up the courage to admit her true feelings.
Enter the world of Nightingale Books for a serving of romance, long-held secrets, and unexpected hopes for the future--and not just within the pages on the shelves. How to Find Love in a Bookshop is the delightful story of Emilia, the unforgettable cast of customers whose lives she has touched, and the books they all cherish.
I have been going hard on the bookshop books and was excited to find this one. The word love is in the title, so I am hoping for some romance, but I also want to learn more about this magical haven for books lovers - Nightingale Books. It seems most of the books I read set in bookshops involve a rescue mission with the store needing saving, but I do enjoy a good fight for something as lovely as a bookstore. The synopsis makes me think I will get to know some great quirky characters too. They are always my favorites.

ReplyDeleteI think there may be a romance in Bookshop. I am about 45% through, but it's more about all the people and how the bookstore fit into their lives. It's very good

ReplyDeleteBookshop was good. Not exactly what I thought it would be, but I liked it a lot. The beginning of the book talks about a bookshop being the heart of a community, and that's the way this story played out. It followed several characters and how they bookshop was part of their lives.
DeleteI haven't heard of either of these book, Sam, but they both sound good. I hope they are as good as the description makes them sound.
