Water, Water, Everywhere!
Happy Tuesday! This week, we have a water challenge. I guess I went for the low hanging fruit by selecting covers featuring bodies of water, but when I think about each of these stories, the settings were so important. Many of these books had beach settings, and thus, the ocean was the body of interest. I had lived at the beach when I was in Florida, but I am not a really a fan. I grew up mostly playing in the fire hydrant, but in the summer, we went upstate, and it was a lake I swam in. I guess I would say that is my favorite setting which is why I adored all the lake scenes in The Summer of Songbirds and The Summer that Made Us. Regardless of my feelings, at least I get to feature all these beautiful covers.
- Vacationland by Meg Mitchell Moore
- Escape to Starshine Cove by Debbie Johnson
- The Summer of Songbirds by Kristy Woodson Harvey
- The Summer that Made Us by Robyn Carr
- Kismet by Becky Chalsen
- The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane by Kelly Harms
- On Fire Island by Jane L. Rosen
- The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley
- The Only Game in Town by Lacie Waldon
- Our Place on the Island by Erika Montgomery
Do you have a favorite body of water?

I love water on a cover, although I'm not a huge fan of water in general. I'd rather look at it than be in it!
ReplyDeleteSame! I liked it as a kid, but now, only when I shower
DeleteThose covers look so pretty together! Like you, I'm not a fan of the beach. There's no place to get out of the sun (and I avoid the sun like the plague), I don't like the feel of the salt water on my skin, the sand... meh. Give me a good pool any day. :)
ReplyDeleteWait! Aren't you born and bred in Jax? The beach is so big down there. I am shocked to hear you are not a fan. I hate the feel of sand and salt water drying on my skin.
DeleteYep, I'm a native. But I've never liked the beach. I have one sister who has lived at the beach for 30+ years and would never move back to this side of the intracoastal, but it's just not for me. I am not an outdoors person *at all* and adding the sun and sand and salt water just makes it worse. lol
DeleteI don't have a favorite body of water but I grew up in California and went to the beaches there so I would pick that if I had to choose.
ReplyDeleteThey have a lot of great beaches in CA to choose from
DeleteYou picked some cute covers! I love how many different cover and title choices there were for today.
ReplyDeleteI took the easy route, but I did dig for books I loved
DeleteI love that cover for Vacationland.
ReplyDeleteI like it too. The framing and arial view is neat.
DeleteThese are all great covers, Sam. I need to read Vacationland, I enjoy Meg Mitchell Moore's books.
ReplyDeleteMoore is new to me, but I am really enjoying reading her books. Hope you get a chance to check it out
DeleteLakes are definitely less scary than the ocean! These are lovely covers, Sam.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Absolutely! Though, the first time I emerged with leeches was a bit unsettling
DeleteEwww! That would be terrible. I've never had that experience, thank goodness.
DeleteI grew up going to the beach almost every weekend. These days I like walking near water, not so much the getting in part lol We live about 5 minutes from the Columbia Rover now with a 2 mile paved walk and I love taking the dogs down there.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Sounds like a really pretty place to stroll.
DeleteI do enjoy swimming in warmer water and the ocean is usually cold unless you're in some tropical location so I'd rather swim in the lake. I loved the lake setting in The Summer That Made Us, too!
ReplyDeleteI get chills thinking about The Summer That Made Us. I have read quite a few books that laude the lakes of MN
DeleteSo many gorgeous covers. I love to look at the Atlantic Ocean but I have no desire to do more than dip a toe in it. I'd rather swim in a pool.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, beaches are usually beautiful. When I was in Maine, we stayed in an ocean front hotel. I sat on the patio and watched the waves. It was stunning
DeleteI (surprisingly) haven't heard of any of these titles but they are gorgeous covers 😍
ReplyDeleteI am surprised by a few. The Only Game in Town is newer and a contemporary romance.
DeleteI just love the ocean. My dream would be to live in a house on a cliff above the ocean or the sea!
ReplyDeleteMaybe someday your dream will come true
DeleteOoh, I am a beach girl, but I don't get there nearly enough. So many great covers. I've only read Our Place on the Island, but I spy a few that I think are on my tbr. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're in Texas, right? Are you near the Gulf? I have spent my whole life on the east coast with beaches not too far away. Pretty easy to hop to the shore if I really want to.
