Isn't It Romantic!
Happy Tuesday! This week we have a genre freebie. I have always loved romances books. Even when I pick up a book that is not necessarily a romance, I am thrilled if there is a romantic subplot. I subscribe to the definition of genre romance. The romance should be front-and-center, and there should be an HEA. Below are some recent romantic reads that wowed me. Please feel free to share some of your favorites for my TBR.
- Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey
- The Roommate Pact by Allison Ashley
- Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
- You, Again by Lauren Layne
- The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
- Change of Plans by Dylan Newton
- Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
- Hello Stranger by Katherine Center
- You, With a View by Jessica Joyce
- Play for Me by Libby Hubscher
Do you enjoy romances?

Big yes to the definition of romance: the relationship is the focus and there has to be an HEA. It amazes me that people still get confused about what is romance. Or think a book with a tragic end is a romance. Nope!
ReplyDeleteRight? I had this fight with readers I respect. They can think what they want even if they are wrong
DeleteHaha! My ears are burning. I will go down with this ship, though. I still think it's primarily an American (publishers) genre rule. ;)
DeleteI read and loved 5 of these. If you loved the other 5, I know they're good!
ReplyDeleteAll of these were wonderful! Glad to hear you enjoyed the ones you read as well
DeleteWhile romance isn't my go-to genre, I've actually read a few of them over the last couple of years. Bloggers like you have recommended some great ones!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing RW&RB on your blog. I was shocked!
DeleteLoved Meet Me at the Lake, Play For Me and Hello Stranger, too! I will be starting You, With a View soon! Great list!
ReplyDeleteI am excited for you to read You, With a View. It was sweet and touching. I hope you love it
DeleteYou already know I love a good romance. Most of the ones I read have a paranormal element to them though.
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of PNR in the 2010s, not so much anymore, but I wouldn't rule them out
DeleteSo many great authors and books on this list. Several I still need to read!
ReplyDeleteOnly Jessica Joyce was new to me. I have read and loved all the other authors books
DeleteGreat list, Sam. I have read 3 of these and have 3 on my TBR. I agree, I also think a romance needs a happily ever after.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who started this tragic ending thing, but I cannot call that a romance. I usually label stuff like that "love story". It can be about a romantic relationship, but the ending can also be terrible with a love story
DeleteI'm not much of a romance reader, at least not when it's front and center in a book. I prefer it as a subplot. I have enjoyed several of Center's books, though. I'm tempted by the Fortune one as well since it seems like everyone loves it.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Thursday)!
Though Center's books have big romantic subplots, I always feel that they are more about the female MCs journey (women's fiction). Her more recent books have made the romances a bigger part of the story though, and they have HEAs. Both Carley Fortune's books bring the heartbreak, but they are wonderful
DeleteGlad to see quite a few books by authors I enjoy. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI adored Hello Stranger 😍
ReplyDeleteIt was great! As Center's books always are
DeleteI see so many favorites on this list! Katherine Center, Jessica Joyce, Ashley Poston, and Dylan Newton all wrote wonderful stories :)
ReplyDeleteThese are some of my recent favorites with Poston, Center, and Newton being auto-reads at this point. I am excited to see what else Joyce has in store for us too
DeleteI love romance so much and always look forward to that HEA! I still need to read a couple of Lauren Layne's books, but I've been saving them for when I desperately need something I know I will love. Only With You & Made For You ♥.
ReplyDeleteThere are some LL books I have to read, too. She was a writing machine at one point. I have not read any of her suspense books (not really my thing), but I have done a good job keeping up with the new stuff. I read Only With You, but not the other. It's on my Hoopla wish list.
