Spell the Month in Books - July 2023

Spell the Month in Books is hosted by Reviews From the Stacks. The goal is to spell the current month with the first letter of book titles, excluding articles such as 'the' and 'a' as needed.

J - Just My Type by Falon Ballard

U - The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

L - The Lonely Hearts Book Club by Lucy Gilmore

Y - You Me Everything by Catherine Isaac

How would you spell the month?
Let us know in the comments!

  1. J is a tough one, but I would use Jar of Hearts, U would also be Undomestic Goddess, L is (The) Last Orphan and Y would be You've Got Plaid. All are books I have read and enjoyed. I like your list as well, Sam.

    1. U was so hard, but that Kinsella book is such a favorite. You've Got Plaid (looks at Goodreads). Nothing like men in kilts

  2. I would have thought "U" would be tricky but you nailed it. :) I haven't read anything by Sophie Kinsella in many years.

    1. I read that book a LONG time ago. I like to use newer releases, but some letters are hard. I adore Kinsella. Her books always make me laugh and feel warm inside

  3. I always love this challenge. I looked at every book on my shelves and couldn't find a title that starts with a J. This obviously means I'll need to buy a new book haha

    1. Really? J was ok for me. U was hard. I also do the alphabet challenge every year, so I at least have one of each letter to select. I like to pick books that were great for me though

  4. Loved The Lonely Hearts Book Club. This seems like a fun prompt to work up!

    1. It's fun, sometimes challenging because of the letters or length of the month. I just like having a new way to showcase books I enjoyed.

  5. Okay, I oculd probably manage July with just 4 letters. I tried to do this on Instagram one year and got stuck on January.

    1. Double letters are an even bigger challenge. It's probably harder on IG because you have to have the physical book for the picture. I just have to have read the book.

  6. I would have had difficulties to find a book beginning with J!

    1. I wouldn't say I read a lot of books that start with J, but I actually had a few good ones to choose from

  7. These are always so fun. Looking at my shelves, I would have used Just Another Love Song, Unfortunately Yours, Life and Other Inconveniences, and Yours Truly.

    1. I almost used Unfortunately Yours, but I felt like I just featured it - great book! Look at that - I read all the books you would use. Great list!
