Top Ten Tuesday: I Miss you!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

I Miss You!
Second TTT of the year, and I am already going rogue. I actually talked how my reading has changed and my challenges. I am not really changing things up much, because once they call me back to work, I will be gone each day 5:50 am - 6:30 pm. Therefore, sticking with what I know I can handle seems prudent.

I remember someone on Twitter talking about authors they miss, and there are quite a few I would love to see new books from. Here are ten authors, who have delighted and wowed me in the past, and I would be overjoyed to read anything new they release. I know you are going to look at some of these dates for their last releases, and you will think, "that wasn't so long ago." I have just been conditioned to expect a new book every year (at least). Seriously, I read a lot of contemporary romances, and I will get multiple books every year from my favorite authors in that sub-genre. Maybe I am too demanding, but I can still miss them.

Are there any authors you miss?
Let us know in the comments!

  1. This is an interesting TTT; you have me thinking about which authors I am missing too!! And you can never be too demanding when it comes to books from your fave authors๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ waiting is hard!!!

    1. The wait is hard, but it's even worst when it feels like they may never release a new book

  2. I'd love to read more from Jessi Kirby! I have a couple authors that I know I'll get at least one book from a year, but one of my favorites usually has a two-year break between books and we're now beyond that, so I don't know when we'll get a new book from her!

    1. I am hopeful for Kirby, because it has not been that long. A two year break makes me a little nervous, but I hope that maybe it's just COVID fatigue?

"once they call me back to work, I will be gone each day 5:50 am - 6:30 pm".
Any chance that they can make at least some of your workdays permanently on remote? Since you seem to be able to handle it so well?

Wow, some famous authors on your list who haven't had a book out for AGES. Maybe some have been afraid not to be able to come up with a decent enough follow-up to those smash hits, and they got into writer's block mode...I'm eagerly waiting for the new Nova Ren Suma novel - I know from her Twitter that she's working on it. It's been more than two years already ๐Ÿ˜ญ. At least I can count on Seanan McGuire to be writing ten books a year ๐Ÿ˜‚ (well, not quite, but still ๐Ÿ˜‰).

    1. The only way I can keep my remote job is to get a new one. My position is an in-office job. Even the position I am filling right now cannot be totally remote, because we execute all job duties remotely. I am curious why some of these authors have dropped off the radar. I admire those authors who seem to have endless inspiration and creativity. Releasing multiple books a year is quite a feat.

  4. Haha, I went rogue with my TTT too. After failing at last year’s resolutions, I’m not making any new ones! I loved I’ll Give You The Sun when I read it for my Printz challenge in 2015. I could use another Jandy Nelson book.

    1. Both Nelson's books were beautiful! There was mention of book several years ago, but then, nothing.

  5. YES!! Where are these authors??? I loved so many of their books, especially Ockler, Kirby, Nelson, Benway, and Fitzpatrick. FINGERS CROSSED we'll hear some news soon!

    1. I heard Fitzpatrick might have something in the works, but I don't trust those social media mentions after what happened with Nelson.

  6. I don't make resolutions, so I can understand going rogue with the theme this week. There are a few authors I miss too: Julie James. It's been a while since she's published anything. Laura Florand, Kelsie Leverich, and I'm sure more if I thought about it. Hope you get some new books by your authors!

    1. Julie James put out The Thing About Love in 2017 and I thought we were getting a new series. I would love to read a new book from her.

    1. I see she put out an Echo Lake book last year. I think that's who you are talking about, no?

  8. I was just thinking the other day that it had been a long time since Fitzpatrick had released anything. I hope Benway releases something soon. I would love to read more from her. I also want more Julie Cross. I would be happy if she released another YA hockey book.

    1. There are rumors of something come soon from Fitzpatrick, but I haven't heard anything new about it in a while. Yes! I would love more Juniper Falls books, in all honesty, if Cross has them in her.

  9. This is kinda random but I miss Lauren Layne being online and knowing exactly what her release schedule is like and her interacting with her fans. Yes she has one book releasing this year, but usually she has quite a few throughout the year. I keep hoping we'll get another one cause I'm greedy like that lol.

    1. I didn't realize she was MIA. Hmmm. I remember spending so much time on FB talking about romance books with other readers. There were so many groups.

    2. Yeah she deleted her Facebook account, so she's not in her reader group anymore. Just her PA. And she also deleted her Instagram account and her email account is no where to be found. So I guess I'm just stuck stalking her website to find out about new releases lol.

    3. I remember her Twitter disappearing too. Wonder what happened.

  10. I have a few authors that I find myself checking for new books from time to time. It is weird how some people just disappear for a bit. I am surprised by how long it has been since some of these authors have had a release. Yoon had 2 books release pretty close together and then nothing. Maybe she was distracted by the movies?

    1. Yoon did contributed to some anthologies since and she started an imprint with her husband, but no new full length.

  11. Holy crap 13 hour days!? Noooo Sam that is HORRIBLE, I am so sorry! I agree on so many of these, I hope they will all publish something soon! I know there are a bunch of authors I have thought of recently, like "hmm where are those guys?" and I really do hope they are doing well in life and will be providing us with more books eventually! I really like your rogue topic!

    1. It was better when had the 7.5 hour work days (8 hours there). They added that extra half hour, and it wrecked my train/bus timing. I think I am more sad about some of those authors, because I was late to the game and binged all the books they had out. Here's hoping something new is on the horizon

  12. I'm with you. If an author doesn't produce a new book every year, I automatically assume they must be dead! Just kidding, but I'm definitely conditioned to expect a new book every year or at least every two years. I get impatient when authors go longer than that without publishing. We're such spoiled readers, aren't we?

    Happy TTT!

  13. Big yes for Robin Benway! I don't think she's released anything since Far from the Tree in 2017!

  14. I'd love another book from Huntley Fitzpatrick, she's one of my favorites!

  15. Oh I love your twist! This should be a TTT topic. I may have to steal your idea. ;) I would love to have a new book by Jenny Han, as well. I still need to read her Summer I Turned Pretty series, though. Happy Reading!

  17. There are SO many authors that I'm curious where they went. I didn't realize it's been so long for Brody since I just got to GoLT.

I know last year was tough, creatively, for a lot of authors too so I wonder how that will play out in 2021.

  20. I don't know... I think not publishing at least one book a year - in contemporary genres - IS unusual and none of your list has published in the past couple of years (that I noticed) so I can see why you miss them.

I've never given this much thought but I like the topic!
