I Meant to Read That!
I think most of us are guilty of having our own personal Mt. TBR. Up until recently, I was posting my weekly wishlist book on Wednesdays, as well as multiple TTT posts highlighting anticipated reads. I cannot say I read them all, though I had the best intentions. For this week's post, I reviewed those aforementioned posts in addition to the list of books I purchased in 2020. The ten below not only represent books I had hoped to read last year, but books I am prioritizing for this year (accountability!). BOOKS I DON'T OWN
- Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman - I originally had passed on this book, because it sounded really different from Bowman's previous books (which I LOVED!). However, I kept seeing more and more great reviews, and they convinced me that I have to read this book.
- Break the Fall by Jennifer Iacopelli - This was a CWW book for me. Girls in elite sports is something I love reading about, but I didn't get an ARC, and my eLibrary still has not gotten this book, so, it sits on my wishlist.
- Here the Whole Time by Vitor Martins - I remember seeing news about this book, but thought it would be sort of sad and whatnot. Another case of reviews doing a great job selling a book to me in a way the description never did. I came across a bunch of stellar reviews on my feed, that convinced me this was going to be a super heartwarming story, which is absolutely my jam.
- The Edge of Anything by Nora Shalaway Carpenter - Another CWW with girls in sports, but this one has a strong focus on mental health and friendship, more things I like to read about.
- Heartbreak Boys by Simon James Green - This book checks so many boxes for me, and the premise sounds so fun. These two faking a relationship when their respective exes get together. The promise of summertime fun and a fake relationship is enough to get my interest.
BOOKS I OWN
- Not Your #Lovestory by Sonia Hartl - I loved Hartl's previous release SO much and was completely heartbroken when I was rejected for an ACR about 3 seconds after I clicked the request button on Netgalley. But, I treated myself, and purchased this book, and then I didn't read it.
- Going Rogue by Robin Benway - I was just crying about the lack of new releases from Benway a week ago, yet I have this book unread on my Kindle. The first book, Also Known As, was such a hit for me. I really need to make time for this book.
- The Year After You by Nina de Pass - Yet another CWW pick, which I purchased for myself. I have no excuses here.
- The Long Distance Playlist by Tara Eglington - I absolutely adored Eglington's How to Keep a Boy From Kissing You, and when I saw her newest book was a YA-goes-to-college sort of story in mixed format, I was super excited. I bought the book really close to its release date, but it didn't seem to make my weekly TBR.
- What Happens Next by Colleen Clayton - This book was on my TBR and wishlist for eternity. When it went on sale, I snapped it up, and immediately forgot about it. I plan on doing some sort of mystery-thriller week and will definitely slot this one in.
Have you read any of these?

These look nice. I especially like the look of what Happens Next since thriller. I've been reading a lot of those. :)
ReplyDeleteI like to read a YA thriller every once in a while and I have seen good things for this one
DeleteWithout fail you always introduce Me to the coolest YA titles! In particular, Not Your #Lovestory sound so cute!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine Hartl doing a fantastic job with the story too
DeleteI also meant to read Harley in the Sky last year, but my huge TBR pile got in the way.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I still don't have access to the book, but I might cave and buy it
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but I can totally relate to being excited for a lot of books and not getting to them for the longest time!
ReplyDeleteSo guilty of that. The ones I don't have, ok, but the ones I own! I really should try harder
DeleteHarley in the Sky is actually not that different from her other books. I struggled with the MC a bit, but it's still very good. What Happens Next is so good! I hope you like all these books.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw stuff about Harley, I thought it was very different. What Happens Next is a sure thing since I own the book and I have to read it now that I said I would in this post.
DeleteI loved What Happens Next! I read it sometime ago, though. Hope you get to it this year. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the book because so many people liked it. I am pretty sure I will read it soon. I want to do a One Old, One New mystery/thriller edition. I just have to get a new release for it.
DeleteI don't have a copy of either, but I DO really want to read Here the Whole Time and Heartbreak Boys.

They both sound so good. I am thinking the library might get Here the Whole Time, but not sure about Heartbreak boys.
DeleteI haven't read any of these either. I hope that you get to read them soon. Not Your #Lovestory sounds good. All of them do, really. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe ones I owned I am pledging to read. So, I should have some thought's on #Lovestory at some point.
DeleteI hope you get a chance to read all these! I didn’t come anywhere close to reading all the 2020 books I wanted to read. I’ll get to them someday!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I will never be able to read them all. I think I read a lot, but I also am excited about so many books. It's impossible!
DeleteI received Here the Whole Time in my December book box and I'm excited to get to it. I've heard good things! I hope you get to read it soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you read it and let me know how it is!
DeleteThose Benway books sound fun! I'll have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
LOVED the first one. I wish she had written more than two
DeleteOkay you must must MUST read Harley and NotYourLoveStory! They are both incredible, and I think you would like them both! (Also, I found Harley to be in the same vein as Starfish, if that helps!) I also want to read Break the Fall! I really should have done this TTT to hold myself accountable hah. Hope you get to these!
ReplyDeleteI have #Lovestory, so that's a sure thing. Still need to get my hands on Harley. I keep hoping my library gets it. It's posts like these that tend to light a fire under me, and it's only 10 books, of which I own 5, so not an impossible goal.
DeleteMost of these are new to me. I'm so behind in my want to reads.
ReplyDeleteI accept I will never catch up, but I can try to read these ten
DeleteI’ve not read any of these but happy reading when you get them!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely reading the last 5, since I have them. Still hoping my eLibrary gets some of the others.
DeleteI have heard great things about Here the Whole Time Sam!
ReplyDeleteI feel like this is another case like Not So Pure and Simple, where I misjudged the book because of the cover. Now that I am seeing reviews, I feel like it would be a good fit for me
DeleteI can so relate to what you said about Not Your #Lovestory. I can't tell you how many times, I have been crushed by being rejected by an ARC but don't prioritize the book after I spent money to buy it.
ReplyDeleteI love that there is not pressure for me to like the book or write an elaborate review, but I often forget about books I buy. That's why Backlog has been so good for me
DeleteOne day I'd like to try What Happens Next. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier!
ReplyDeleteThe second half of my TTT are sure things. I even have Going Rogue on my TBR for next week
DeleteI hope I get my reading mojo back because I am totally free to read whatever I want and could actually make a dent in my TBR pile this year.
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I hope you get it back too
DeleteHarley in the Sky was definitely a little different from Bowman's earlier books but I still really enjoyed it. I'll be curious to see what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI was led to believe it was outside her normal genre, and I think that's why I dismissed it. The more I heard about it though, the more I wanted to read it.
