Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Float Plan

Trish Doller
Age/Genre: Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Release Date: March 2, 2021
Goodreads
Critically acclaimed author Trish Doller's unforgettable and romantic adult debut about setting sail, starting over, and finding yourself...

Since the loss of her fiancé, Anna has been shipwrecked by grief—until a reminder goes off about a trip they were supposed to take together. Impulsively, Anna goes to sea in their sailboat, intending to complete the voyage alone.

But after a treacherous night’s sail, she realizes she can’t do it by herself and hires Keane, a professional sailor, to help. Much like Anna, Keane is struggling with a very different future than the one he had planned. As romance rises with the tide, they discover that it’s never too late to chart a new course.

In Trish Doller’s unforgettable Float Plan, starting over doesn't mean letting go of your past, it means making room for your future.
Why I want to read this book

Doller is another YA author making that jump to adult contemporaries. I have had success with Doller's books in the past, and I believe she will deftly tackle the adult contemporary market. The whole first paragraph of the summary had me hook, line, and sinker. The theme of being able to make peace with your past and start anew is one I fully and wholeheartedly embrace. Early reviews have been great, and I am really looking forward to reading this book.

The Anti-Prom

Abby McDonald
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Candlewick Press
Release Date: March 8, 2011
Goodreads
Three unlikely allies team up for a night of rebellion, romance, and revenge in a high-stakes dramedy from acclaimed young author Abby McDonald.

They’ve spent years at the same high school without speaking a word to one another, but that’s all about to change. Popular Bliss was having the perfect prom until she found her BFF and boyfriend making out in the back of a limo. Bad girl Jolene wouldn’t be caught dead at the prom, yet here she is, trussed up in pink ruffles, risking her reputation for some guy - some guy who is forty minutes late. And shy, studious, über-planner Meg never counted on her date’s standing her up and leaving her idling in the parking lot outside the prom. Get ready for The Anti-Prom, Abby McDonald’s hilarious, heart-tugging tale about three girls and one unforgettable prom night.
Why I want to read this book

Abby McDonald wrote a bunch of really cute YA contemporaries back in the day, as well as a twisty thriller, Dangerous Girls, which I adored. This was probably another kindle daily deal, which the kid bought many moons ago, and it sounds like a great fit for me. Girls from different social walks of life bonding over their personal prom disasters sounds like a recipe for fun to me. The synopsis promises quite a few things that never fail to delight me, and if the book actual delivers, it will be a hit for me.

    1. I knew McDonald wrote under the Haas pen name, but I did not realize she wrote adult romance. I have to check that out.

  4. I've wanted to read Trish Doller for awhile. Still need to do that! The Anti-prom title reminds me of when I was in high school and me and a bunch of a my single girlfriends had an anti-Valentine's Day party the night that the school's Sweetheart Dance was going on. Hope you get these to read soon!

  5. The Anti-Prom sounds like my kind of book! I love seeing different types of characters bonding and during prom. I read another prom book where the girls were vastly different and I loved watching them connect...Prom-Wrecked. Hoping this one is just as cute!
