It's that time of the year, kids. That halfway point, where it's time to assess our reading so far. Why not do so via The Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag. I was tagged by Tânia over at My Lovely Secret. This tag is always so difficult for me, yet I keep coming back to it. NOTE: Any book that made this list, which I have read, is a favorite of mine and has most likely been featured in one of my Five Star Friday posts.
BEST BOOK YOU'VE READ IN 2020
So far, I have read 244 books, and there have been so many good ones. These are among some which really stood out for me.
- When You Were Everything by Ashley Woodfolk
- Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers
- Under Rose Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
- Between the Notes by Sharon Huss Roat
- Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon
BEST SEQUEL YOU'VE READ IN 2020
I have been avoiding starting new series, because I have commitment issues, but these are few sequels which I really loved.
- Rebel by Marie Lu
- The Map from Here to There by Emery Lord
- Momentous Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling
I want to read all the books, but these are a few which I really, really want to read. The Voting Booth is a sure thing, since they have it at the eLibrary, but my goal is get my hands on all these books.
- The Brave by James Bird
- The Year After You by Nina de Pass
- The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert
- Break the Fall by Jennifer Iacopelli
- Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman
I talked about a bunch of my anticipated YA books in this TTT , so I thought I would do a list of my most anticipated upcoming adult releases.
- Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morganthaler
- Well Play by Jen DeLuca
- Snapped by Alexa Martin
- Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams
- How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams
I remember seeing Shannon talking about this book back when, and I won't lie, I wanted to read it based on the title alone. Shannon said it was good, and she is not a book pushover, so I knew it would be good, but I never expected Aven Green to wiggle her way into my heart. These are feel-good books, and I am so happy I read them.
- Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling
- Momentous Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling
I have read over 30 debuts so far this year, and therefore, this was a difficult list to assemble. I also wanted to include Jennifer Longo as new-to-me, because I finally read two of her books and both were absolutely stupendous for me.
I usually need to like the characters in the books I read to fully enjoy the story, so I "meet" a LOT of fantastic characters. However, these are a few of the standouts, who I wish I could meet in person.
- Liz Lightly from You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
- Pippa Fitz-Amobi from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
- Aven Green from Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling
- Maisie Martin from What I Like About Me by Jenna Guillaume
- Liv Rodinsky from Throw Like a Girl by Sarah Henning
Confession: I'm a crier. I am sure that 95% of my reviews talk about tears, but here are a few that really evoked a strong reaction from me.
- Life After Juliet by Shannon Lee Alexander
- The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler
- A Breath Too Late by Rocky Callen
- Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
- A Heart in a Body in the World by Deb Caletti
You know this is my FAVORITE kind of book, and I just did a TTT post with these books. So, like before, I am going to focus on my adult books. All of these books touched my heart. They were often humorous, but also, very touching and heartwarming.
- The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman
- Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
- The Summer Deal by Jill Shalvis
- The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez
- The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morganthaler
One of my favorite posts was my double review with Tanya, because it was my first buddy read and it was with one of my favorite people.
I also loved Kiersten's Animal Crossing post, because, well, you all know that game owns me.
I always hope to read those books from all my anticipating, CWW, and missed in 2019 posts, but that's a lot of books. I want to focus on some older shelf books I hope to get to, because I own them and if I bought them, I really wanted to read them.
- The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick
- What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpartick
- Shuffle, Repeat by Jen Klein
- The Astonishing Mistakes of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone
- A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody
