Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:

Majesty

Katharine McGee
Series: American Royals, #2
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Fiction
Publisher: Random House
Release Date: September 1, 2020
Goodreads
Is America ready for its first queen?

Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we're looking at you Daphne Deighton.

As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her "party princess" persona...and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace--and Prince Jefferson--at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne's carefully laid "marry Prince Jefferson" plans.

A new reign has begun....
Why I want to read this book

If you remember my review of American Royals, you will remember that I LOVED IT! McGee is so good at the soapy drama, and she never fails to help me forget it all by helping me get lost in one of her worlds. American Royals had such a dramatic ending, and I have been dying to get back into that world and find out what happens next.

Game. Set. Match

Jennifer Iacopelli
Age/Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Series: Outer Banks Tennis Academy, #1
Publisher: Coliloquy, LLC
Release Date: April 29, 2013
Goodreads
Nestled along the North Carolina coast, the Outer Banks Tennis Academy is the world's most elite training facility. In this pressure-cooker environment, futures are forged in blood and sweat, and dreams are shattered in an instant.

Penny Harrison, a rising female star, is determined to win the French Open and beat her archrival, Zina Lutrova. But when her coach imports British bad boy Alex Russell as her new training partner, will Penny be able to keep her laser-like focus?

Tennis is all Jasmine Randazzo has ever known. The daughter of two Grand Slam champions, she's hell-bent on extending her family’s legacy and writing her own happily-ever-after...until her chosen Prince Charming gives her the just-friends speech, right before the biggest junior tournament of the year, the Outer Banks Classic.

With a powerful serve and killer forehand, newcomer Indiana Gaffney is turning heads. She’s thrilled by all of the attention, especially from Jack Harrison, Penny’s agent and hot older brother, except he keeps backing off every time things start heating up.

With so much at stake, dreams—and hearts—are bound to break.
Why I want to read this book

Back in 2015, I was reading a lot more new adult books. I think I bought this and the sequel on sale, and there they sat, unread, on my kindle. My interest in these books has been renewed since the release of Iacopelli's latest release, Break the Fall, back in February. It appealed to me so much that I featured it on Can't Wait Wednesday, because I love books featuring serious athletes. Game. Set. Match. is even more appealing to me, as it is a sports romance. I also like that it revolves around tennis, because that's a sport I don't see featured too often.

What are you waiting on?
