Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:

Top Ten Tuesday: My Fall TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

My Fall TBR!

This is my official declaration of the books I am sworn to read this fall. The end of the year is always interesting, reading-wise, because not as many books are published, which gives me a lot of freedom in terms of what I will read. However, I tend to fly by the seat of my pants, when it comes to my "free" books, and never know what I will be picking up.

I am certain, that I will be reading my November and December review books, though. Below are a mix of the YA and adult books I have on my "to review" spreadsheet. I am very excited about all then of these, and cannot wait to read them!

Top Ten Tuesday: Let's Cook!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Let's Cook!

Well, actually, the topic is what you like to eat or drink while reading, but since I do most of my reading during my commute, I am not usually eating or drinking. However, I still wanted to stay close to the theme, and though I would feature some of the YA books with teen chefs. All of these books included scenes featuring food and left my mouth watering.

Blog Tour: The Babysitters Coven

The Babysitters Coven

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this funny, action-packed novel about a coven of witchy babysitters who realize their calling to protect the innocent and save the world from an onslaught of evil.

Seventeen-year-old Esme Pearl has a babysitters club. She knows it's kinda lame, but what else is she supposed to do? Get a job? Gross. Besides, Esme likes babysitting, and she's good at it.

And lately Esme needs all the cash she can get, because it seems like destruction follows her wherever she goes. Let's just say she owes some people a new tree.

Enter Cassandra Heaven. She's Instagram-model hot, dresses like she found her clothes in a dumpster, and has a rebellious streak as gnarly as the cafeteria food. So why is Cassandra willing to do anything, even take on a potty-training two-year-old, to join Esme's babysitters club?

The answer lies in a mysterious note Cassandra's mother left her: "Find the babysitters. Love, Mom."

Turns out, Esme and Cassandra have more in common than they think, and they're about to discover what being a babysitter really means: a heroic lineage of superpowers, magic rituals, and saving the innocent from seriously terrifying evil. And all before the parents get home.

Top Ten Tuesday: I'm NOT Avoiding You

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

I'm Not Avoiding You!

This week we are talking about books, that have been on my TBR, but I have yet to read for whatever reason.

Top Reasons I Avoid a Book:
  • I am guilty of avoiding final books in a series. It's a combination of not wanting to say goodbye, but also worry, that the book won't deliver closure or the grand ending I, in my heart, believe the series deserves.
  • I also tend to constantly bypass books people tell me I "have" to read. I feel so much pressure to read and enjoy these books, that I just can't bring myself to dive in.
  • I tend to be leery of reading books by favorite authors, that have had a lukewarm reception. I just don't want that book to soil my memories of them in my mind.
  • If I fear, that a book will be too sad, I will put it off, while I wait to be in the appropriate headspace to read it.
Below is a sampling of the books I have been "avoiding" for one of the above mentioned reasons, but all of these are still books I WANT to read, I just have to convince myself to do it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Not in My Zone

NOTE: NO, IT'S NOT TUESDAY, but I had a blog tour, and you all know I love TTT. So here it is!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Not in My Zone!

Most of the time, I am that woman on the right. People will be screaming about all these book,s which just aren't my jam. I mean, if you take a look at my "read" shelf, you will notice that it is cluttered with contemporaries. They may be young adult, middle grades, new adult, or middle grades, but they all tend to be contemporaries, specifically, light and fluffy contemporaries usually featuring romance. Every now and again, I branch out, reading something outside of those parameters, and quite a few of those books have been hits for me. Below are some of those book, outside of my zone, which I recently read and earned between 4.5 - 5 stars. I mean, look at all the covers together. They are so much darker than my norm, right? But, still loved them!

"Saved!" meets To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that takes a meaningful look at consent and what it means to give it.

He accompanies CeCe to camp, and the plan—God’s or CeCe’s—goes immediately awry when her ex shows up with a new girlfriend, a True Believer at that.

Scrambling to save face, CeCe ropes Paul into faking a relationship. But as deceptions stack up, she questions whether her ex is really the nice guy he seemed. And what about her strange new feelings for Paul—is this love, lust, or an illusion born of heartbreak? To figure it out, she’ll have to confront the reasons she chased her ex to camp in the first place, including the truth about the night she lost her virginity.
