My Week in Review
I have not celebrate New Year's since 1993 turned into 1994, but here's to a new year. I was really proud of myself, because I did NOT write 2018 not once this past week. *pats self on back*
I ran a giveaway during the month of December, and I was so excited, when Roberta from Offbeat YA was selected as my winner! Room Away From the Wolves is on its way to her, and I hope she LOVES it!
Thank you to everyone who entered. The winner is @OffbeatYA!!! Happy New Year to all and may 2019 bring you amazing things! 🎉🥂 https://t.co/QOHZOVT1NS— Sam@WLABB (@kozbisa) January 1, 2019
My daughter told me AFTER I bought her gifts, that she didn't want any new dolls, but Churro aka Long Boy seems to be fitting in well with the sloth squad (and she slept with him every night while she was home, too)
We heard 2019 is going to be the year of the sloth... Happy new year!! ✨ pic.twitter.com/ZqfYFeqIR9— Sloth (@SlothGoesPlaces) January 1, 2019

I might or might not be on a tour for McGarry's new book, but either way, I am looking forward to read it. I love her books.
Seriously, Solomon is all about the tears! This book is so emotional. I have shed quite a few tears already. Apparently, Rachel Lynn Solomon is all about making me cry.

How was your week?
Let us know in the comments!
Happy New Year! I always seem to write the wrong year for a few weeks haha! And ooh You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone- glad you're enjoying that one!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Death Prefers Blondes looks fun. :)
Have a super weekend!
It's hard to switch years, but I was really conscientious about it, because that would get me dinged on an audit. RL Solomon's books are so emotional!
DeleteWhen I was at school, for weeks I'd be writing the wrong year on every piece of work! Thankfully I don't have much need to write the date now so it isn't too confusing!
ReplyDeleteI have to date everything at work, so that's why I was thinking about it a lot.
DeleteHappy New Year Sam :) You got some really nice-looking books last week, and I hope you'll enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookworms
I was very excited about the few I got this week. Those are authors I can depend upon for a good read.
DeleteThe hedgehog and sloth pics are totally making my morning. :) Yay for the new Juniper Falls book! I wish the series got more love/attention. I love it. Lauren Layne books are so dependable. I was watching her and Anthony's NYE YouTube video and they just make me laugh. Such a fun couple.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm feeling blue, I just check out Hedgehog of the Day and I feel a little better. THIS is why the internet was invented. So we could see/watch cute animals. LL is dependable. Even the messy one was good for me. It's about the group of people she puts together and the humor that she always infuses into her stories.
DeleteHaha, I wrote 2018 this week. It was the very first time I had to type the date, and I failed. I’m thinking about reading The Foxhole Court. It doesn’t sound like my kind of book at all, but I haven’t seen a bad review of it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Right? The book is everywhere, and some tough readers are slapping 5-stars on it. It falls into my reading range, so I thought I would give it a try.
DeleteGlad the New Year is off to a good start for you! And yay for not writing 2018 this year either! That's always a struggle! Lol!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy all of your lovely new reads!!
Here's my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Like I said, I am very impressed with my ability to NOT write 2018 this week.
DeleteI have to read You'll Miss Me While I'm Gone. I read House Arrest this year and enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe whole premise of You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone is heartbreaking and gut wrenching. House Arrest was very good. A beautiful and emotional story, and I know I rated it down, because of the ending.
DeleteHappy New Year, Sam! :D I'm happy I hadn't had to write "2019" anywhere so far, because I would without a doubt write "2018" instead.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your new books.
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Happy New Year to you too! Writing the date is unavoidable for me at work. I must date over 100 things a day.
DeleteHappy New Year! Yes, not writing 2018 was one of my biggest accomplishments when I went back to work on Wednesday, although I did flub it and write 2018 on a check I wrote for my son's school lunch account the very next day, lol.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all of your upcoming reads. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Death Prefers Blondes.
I feel good about Blondes. It will be a great way to end my week.
DeleteQuote: "I have not celebrate New Year's since 1993 turned into 1994".
ReplyDeleteLOL, how so? Birthdays and New Year's Eves are my favourite festivities, though I don't get to celebrate them the way I'd like to - but I always try to do "something".
My own year couldn't have started better, since the news of my winning your giveaway reached me on Jan 1st! Thank you again for the opportunity!
Here's to many more awesome books and blogging friends and...sloths in 2019! 😉
I'm a grinch and a homebody and I like quiet things. Starting the year with a win is a good omen. TBD claims the book is on its way, so hopefully it shows up on your doorstep within the next two weeks.
DeleteOh my that hedgehog! Hahaha! I love it! OMG I've forgotten about the whole writing the wrong year thing for the first few days, but that's because I haven't had to write it. Enjoy your new books! I hope you have a good week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of animal pics just like the hedgehog saved on my computer. They are so fun.
DeleteSam I hope I'll be on tour for Katie's book! I've been turned down on Netgalley so the tour is my last hope ...And about You'll Miss me When i'm Gone I can't wait to read your review because this is one book that keeps catching my attention (having a lovely cover does not help of course!). Happy Sunday. Sophie @bewareofthereader
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the tour, but that organizer always takes a while to finalize the list. So, I am reading the book anyhow and writing a review, which I will hold for a little bit. Solomon definitely knows how to make me cry. Her books are beautifully painful.
DeleteGlad you're having a great year. There's so many new toys for kids, glad you found one for your daughter. Oh I also love the Romance recs. #Sundaypost
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is turning 24 in a month, but she loves dolls, especially sloths.
DeleteI don't think that I have wrote the date wrong this year...yet. I am sure I will do it before much longer. I do love those sloths and that hedgehog is adorable. I have 99 Percent Mine requested from the library and just bought a Julie Cross book. I hope you have a great week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteGold star to you too for not messing up the date! Which Cross book did your buy? I really liked her Eleanor Ames and Juniper Falls books. I know she has some paranormal books too.
DeleteHaha! Good job on successfully writing 2019 on things! XD I had to fill out a bunch of official paperwork during this week and I'm mildly worried that I wrote the wrong year. I've heard good things about The Foxhole Court! I hope you enjoy all your new reads and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIf you think hard about it being 2019, you probably will get the date right. Right! I gave into FOMO on Foxhole, but only because it was free.
DeleteI do love the Sloth Family.
ReplyDeleteThe Marriage Clock looks good. Enjoy your books and your week. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Marriage Clock sounded fun. I couldn't resist requesting.
DeleteOMG that hedgehog picture is SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI supposedly won Death Prefers Blondes on Goodreads but we'll see if I ever get it. lol I'm dying to read it.
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Hedgie is hilarious, right? I have emailed when I didn't receive the book. When you go to your wins, there is a "received" or "not received" button. You can try that.
DeleteYour sloth family looks like they are happy to have a new member:) In December I actually caught myself just before I scheduled a post for January. I remembered to change the year. LOL Enjoy all of those fabulous books and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
That's my daughter's sloth family, but she brings them to visit whenever she's in town.
DeleteHappy New Year! I guarantee I will write 2018 on at least 1 document a week until April. Love the sloths!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with writing the right date tomorrow.
DeleteLet me know how you like Crazy Cupid Love. I started it, but I'm not sure it's for me.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm. It sounded cute, but I have been seeing meh things about it.
DeleteHappy New Year! I'll be writing 2018 until February but it's all good... It's less embarrassing than constantly giving people the 'wrong' name as I still haven't gotten used to using my married one!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how hard it would be adjusting to a new name after having your own for so long. After I stopped teacher, I had to readjust to being called by my first name again.
DeleteYou had lots of good books this week, mostly all 4 stars. I rarely write anymore, it's typing so it's going pretty well since for 2019 on each blog post, it defaults. Enjoy your new reads this week! Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteMy ratings always look great, because I don't talk about DNFs. I tend to not finish books that would get under 3-stars.
DeleteChurro definitely looks at home and super cute with the sloth squad! Love it! And the hedgehog just makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteAs you know I got late ARC approval of 99 Percent Mine so I'm happy to see you enjoyed it. I'm not going to kill myself to review it this week. I'll pick it up when I can fit it in. January is a busy month with ARCs!
Churro actually came hugging a Pusheen, so he's extra cool with the velcro for added fun. It seems people are torn on 99 Percent, but I found it fun. I had 23 Jan books, but I started back in Dec and only have 4 left.
DeleteHappy New Year. Cute hedgehog. Sounds like a good week, mine was too.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Glad you had a good week, and hedgehogs always make things better.
DeleteYay for successfully making it through a week remembering what year it is. I am still struggling to remember because I work in accounts so we're paying stuff for December 2018 but I am also a day behind in the cashbooks so I both don't know what year it is but I don't know what the date or day is. I am just lost and confused I think.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes a slower week for new books is good, get yourself organised at the start of the year. Just give it a couple of weeks and you'll have all the ARCs and I'll continually be shocked at how many books you're getting through each week.
I deal with deposits, and I have to remember to check the dates for retirement deposits, since they can still contribute to 2018.
DeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR <3 I hope that 2019 has been off to a fantastic start for you <3
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about celebrating the new year, I didn't write 2018 anywhere yet, it seems like I'm adjusting well for once, too haha.
I can't wait to read more by Rachel Lynn Solomon, I loved Our Year Of Maybe and I love emotional books. I hope you're having a great time with You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone :)
You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone is so sad. It really had to be considering the subject matter. I only have a little bit left (15 mins or so), and it's a little lighter, but there were many, many tears shed.
DeleteThe Foxhole Court is one I have seen around a lot and everyone seems to love! I didn't know it was free otherwise I would've tried to snag it myself as well D: I really will be curious to know what you think of that. Happy New Year and good on you for not having written 2018! I have somehow managed to not make that mistake either.
ReplyDeleteIt was still free! Just managed to snag myself a copy, yay :D
DeleteGlad it was still free. I am all FOMO on that one. I have to know what everyone is talking about.
DeleteAnd my TBR just grew reading this post! Seriously, several titles I had never heard of here that look amazing! And I love your sloths! They are one of my favorite things about your blog, whenever it pops up in my feed and I see one of the cute little sloth faces, I smile!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter did all the art, and that sloth is one of her favorite possessions. I love when people find new books. I have a million, but am always on the search for more.
DeleteAw, your daughter's fuzzy sloths look adorable together! I have to go read your review of House Arrest now. And I think I'm on the tour for McGarry's book, too, but I haven't gotten it yet. Looking forward to reading that one!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
The sloth family just keep multiplying! That tour organizer always keeps me waiting, but I had happened to be approved on NG. At least I have a review written and ready to go if I am on the tour.
DeleteWhy haven't you celebrated NY since 1994?
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me with how many books you read. Here is to a great new year to you and you family. I hope you have a great week. I want to read Only A Breath Apart.
Mary
I was 8 months pregnant NYE 1994, and then I was a single mom after that. I really am not a party person anyhow. I live a quiet life. I really liked Only a Breath Apart. It was but wasn't classic Katie. Lots of emotional stuff, as always, a little gritty, as always, but then she wove in some magical elements which was new and interesting to me.
DeleteThe title Death Prefers Blondes makes me want to know more... I may be adding this to my tbr. :)
ReplyDeleteRoehrig is witty guy, and it shows in that title.
DeleteYou got the new Strohm????? I AM COUNTING DOWN TO HEAR HOW IT IS!!! :D
ReplyDelete
