For Sophie, small-town life has never felt small. She has the Yum Yum Shoppe, with its famous fourteen flavors of ice cream; her beloved marching band, the pride and joy of Acadia High (even if the football team disagrees); and her four best friends, loving and infuriating, wonderfully weird and all she could ever ask for.I took the plunge last year, and fell in love with Emma Mills' writing. I totally subscribe to her brand of YA contemporary, and will forever want to read everything she writes.
Then August moves in next door. A quiet guy with a magnetic smile, August seems determined to keep everyone at arm's length. Sophie in particular.
Country stars, revenge plots, and a few fake kisses (along with some excellent real ones) await Sophie in this hilarious, heartfelt story.
This book sounds so fun and charming, and I am chomping at the bit to read it. LOOK at all the wonderful things Mills has incorporated into this story:
☑Small town setting
☑A fun and quirky squad
☑A mysterious new boy
☑A story of friendship and love
☑Kissing! 💋
I am super excited to read this book, and look forward to my Emma-Mills-a-thon.
What are you waiting on?

I am reading her new one soonish. I have owned it for quite a while. Hmmmm, I hope I like it more than you did.
DeleteI love the small town setting and the revenge plot sounds very entertaining. I requested this one but got rejected, so I'll be watching to see what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI had gotten this approval after get mass Penguin rejections and declined for S&S titles I really, really wanted. So, this was the universe's gift to me.
DeleteThis sounds great and I always love the covers for her books. I hope you enjoy this one, Sam!
ReplyDeleteThe Henry Holt people do a great job with her covers. They are all artist and beautiful. Different from each other, yet seemingly related.
DeleteI have not read an Emma Mills novel before but they are so popular and I love how much everyone loves them DD: I like contemporaries from time to time and need to read one DD:
ReplyDeleteThey are just the perfect combination of everything and excellent contemporaries. It's in the friendships she assembles, the dialog the characters share, the family bonds she shows us. I always feel warm and fuzzy when reading her books.
