That's right! I made it around the sun again. This year, I am fortunate enough to be on a wonderful vacation celebrating my birthday with my daughter for the first time since 2012. So, yeah, I'm excited.
The plan is to spend the day at Epcot and dine at Teppan Edo. I love Hibachi!
Now let's take a look back at my very first birthday. These are two photos of that day, which really capture my love of cake.
Before Cake
Enjoying Cake
Let's take a closer look
My face is in the cake, and I am no longer crying, but if looks could kill! I obviously was unhappy with someone that day, or I was just as serious about cake back then as I am now.
Fun story about these pictures. There almost was NO record of this day. You may notice that the coloring is a little off on these pictures. Well, that is because my aunt found this roll of film when I was 13! I for one am happy she found them.
GIVEAWAY
To celebrate my birthday, I am doing a retweet and follow giveaway over on Twitter. Just retweet my pinned post for a chance to win a book of choice from Book Depository up to $20 USD value! Giveaway will be open anywhere that BD ships.
Go forth and do something wonderful today, because I know I am having a fantastic day!

Those photos are a classic, I'm so happy your aunt found them!
ReplyDeleteYes, so old, they are classic. HA! I am glad my aunt had recovered them, because they fit me to a tee.
DeleteHaha, I have a few funny photos of my first birthday! Barney attended and he scared me so much I screamed the whole time he was there. You're adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do love cake. Especially cake with super rich icing.
My daughter had Barney at her 2nd birthday. She loved him so much.
DeleteHappy birthday Sam! As for cake, I like chocolate gateau, victoria sponge, fudge cake...all the stuff that is bad for you!
ReplyDeleteMy philosophy with cake and the good stuff in general, is that I rarely have it, so when I do, I go big!
DeleteHappy, happy birthday! Love of cake is always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteWe had green tea mousse cake tonight. Yum!
DeleteHaha, I love the photos and the story behind them. I like cake, too! Happy birthday. Thanks for the giveaway. I retweeted.

I think when they were given to me, I was a pouty teen, and asked my mother how she let my first birthday pictures be lost, but as I got older, I really appreciated my aunt rescuing them, and look at our cool 70s clothing.
DeleteHappy Birthday! Enjoy your day and your cake!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI do enjoy the faces you made. Cake is to be taken seriously :) Happy birthday and I also am happy for you to be on vacation!
ReplyDeleteCake really is serious business. =)
DeleteHappy birthday! I hope you have a great time on vacation with your daughter! I'm not much of a cake person. When it's up to me I usually go for a pizza :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Pizza definitely rates high on my list of foods that must be eaten.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Sam! I hope you have the best day (and a great vacation)!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! It's hot, but at least I have good company and the food has been amazing.
DeleteI love that you've taken over the cake with your face! Hah! My son did something similar with his smash cake on his first birthday -- just dove right in with his mouth first. These pictures are precious, and I'm so happy your aunt stumbled across them. It's fun to see things from our past that we don't really remember as adults.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation! Happy Birthday, Sam!

(Also, today is my husband's birthday!)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your husband! It's my cousin's birthday too. Triplets! =)
DeleteI apparently had the clean face, but my daughter had cake everywhere on her first birthday.
We had a date night (for the first time in forever) and went to the movies. We saw Venom and really enjoyed it!
DeleteAwesome! Glad you had a fun night out!
DeleteLove the pics. Happy birthday.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Thank you! It's fun looking back.
DeleteHa ha! I love how serious you’re taking that cake. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteUm, I still look like that when I eat cake.
DeleteHappy Birthday, Sam! Hope you are having a wonderful trip with your daughter. Love your vintage photos. So cute. I love homemade yellow cake from scratch with my grandma’s homemade chocolate frosting.
ReplyDeleteI love all homemade cake, and chocolate frosting is always a good choice.
DeleteHappy, Happy Birthday! I want to go to Epcot! I hope you have the best birthday. I just celebrated mine on the 24th of Sept. It was alright. :/ Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWell, happy belated birthday to you! Epcot is one of our favorite places, so it's been fun visiting again.
DeleteLOL, those pics.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I'm sure you're having a great time, judging by your plan for the day. And thank you for treating US with a giveaway!
I'm not a cake person...I'd rather go for pizza LOL.
Another pizza fan here today, and also, one of my favorite foods. I grew up eating pizza every Friday, because we didn't eat meat on Fridays, and the tradition stuck.
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! And spending it within Disney?! That's awesome!! Hope you have a GREAT day!
ReplyDeleteYes. We got to WDW on Wednesday and are here until Monday. Tomorrow will be a test for me, as we are doing the Magic Kingdom. What was I thinking doing it on Saturday!
Deletehappy Birthday Sam and these pictures are just too funny!!!!! Have fun today and thank you for the giveaway! Sophie @bewareofthereader
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was fun looking at these. We wore some crazy clothes in the 70s.
DeleteHappy birthday, Sam! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI love them! Thank you so much.
DeleteHurray for Disney World!! Have a great birthday :D
ReplyDeleteIt's hot, but still fun.
DeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY! Your plans for the day sound AMAZING and I will pretend to be not jealous ;) The pictures are amazing! I cannot believe that your aunt found the film so many years later and they still somehow developed! That is pretty incredible in itself! So cute, thanks for sharing them! Hope your day is perfect, you deserve a great one!
ReplyDeleteWell, she was my favorite aunt, and I am happy that someone captured the day. A little yellowed, but still, all she had pictures of all my family that was there, so it was a very awesome birthday gift.
DeleteI love that your aunt found that film twelve years later. How funny! Hope your day was perfect!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I am the youngest, and always complained that there were hardly any pictures of me, so this was quite the gift.
DeleteHappy birthday to you!!! Hope you had a wonderful day! :)
ReplyDeleteWe did! Thank you so much!
DeleteLove those pictures!!! Happy Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteBaby pics are the best!
DeleteHappy, Happy Birthday! Sounds like you have fun plans. And those pictures. The look in your eye. LOL Too fun:)
ReplyDeleteFun, but tiring. WDW is NOT a relaxing vacation.
DeleteEEEP BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAM!!!! You are freaking adorable, and the cake loves you as much as you love it. ;) I hope you had an amazing day, sweetie! ♥

ReplyDeleteThank you, and yes, babies and cake are always fun.
DeleteMy birthday was the next dayday! Ha ha. I think you were giving the stink eye to whomever might be wanting to eat your cake. 🎂 Happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteWell, happy belated birthday to you. They had cake at the office, because four of us had our birthdays all in a row. Of course, they had it when I was in FL, but it's the thought that counts.
