My Week in Review
Another week done, and now the vacation countdown really begins! Our little wristbands came, so it makes it all feel like a reality. I would appreciate it, if the temperatures in Florida would drop below 90 before I come to visit. If any of you could make that happen, it would be great.
We started an hourly get out of your seat thing at work. At the beginning of each hour, we get up and do one minute of the designated "office" exercise. It's quite amusing seeing all the squatting, dips, etc. But hey! We're getting sort of healthy together.
On the Blog:

- Tuesday: TTT - My Fall TBR
- Wednesday: CWW - Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
- Thursday: Blog Tour - 500 Words or Less by Juleah de Rosario
- Friday: Discussion - All the Feels!
I was a HUGE fan of this book, and love that McManus composed a soundtrack for this book.
I get asked a lot about the music I listened to while writing One of Us Is Lying, so I finally put together a playlist. Enjoy! πΆπhttps://t.co/VZosc3KUCA— Karen M. McManus (@writerkmc) September 18, 2018

What I Read Last Week
I have zero complaints this week. All my books were quite wonderful. The Geography of Lost Things was my favorite. I don't know. It just had the right amount of romance, emotion, and fun. I loved it! A close second was That Night. As far as my audiobooks are concerned, Lauren Layne never fails to delight me. I smiled so hard at the end of I Think I Love You, that my face hurt. I really liked the narrators for Long Shot. I liked the way they read the book, but I also enjoyed their actual voices. They were really suited to the characters.

How was your week?
Let us know in the comments!
Getting up is good! I have to do that, although I won't do exercises in front of anyone lol, but yeah it helps to get up and move around, for sure. We spend so much of our lives in chairs!
ReplyDeleteI definitely have to check out that McManus playlist! And yay for the Veronica news! I finally get to see the show when it hits Hulu, and it's awesome for fans that they're making a new show. How cool!
Have a super week Sam!
We have no shame in the secure room. =)
DeleteI loved the VMars movie and both books, so I cannot WAIT to see more VMars eps.
I love that you guys are getting up and moving around at work! It sounds like a lot of fun, and everyone's more willing to do it since it's a group effort. Before being a stay-at-home mom, I was a teacher. We don't sit too often, especially with the little ones. They kept me on my toes!
ReplyDeleteYES! V-MARS is my JAM! I love that they're making new episodes! I think I have a crush on Kristen Bell, haha. I like watching videos of her and Dax together -- hilarious. Have you heard about the chair he just plopped into the middle of their living room? Heh.
Ohh! The new Christina Lauren book! I'm still waiting to see whether or not I'll be approved. Fingers crossed! I have The Last Wish of Sasha Cade (blog tour), so I'll be starting it soon. I'm happy to see you enjoyed it! You got through quite a few books last week... I've been trying to get through this Winter audiobook that a 143,343,573,355 hours long. <3
I hope you have a fabulous week!
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
Teaching was the worst job I ever had, but agreed, one seldom sits. I am excited that we will get original cast members for the VMars revival. I am always scared they will do my old shows with new people, and well, that's not the same things. Kristen Bell IS Veronica. Nobody else could be her for me. My request for the CLo book was floating out there for quite a while. I had one on NG and EW. I got it through NG luckily. I remember my daughter reading Winter, and well, that's a long book. Good luck with your listening.
DeleteWhat your office is doing is great and every bit helps, especially with a fun group aspect to it. I think I need to do the same from my computer chair too!
ReplyDeleteThere are only 12 of us in the room -- 11 women (poor guy!). My co-worker found a bunch of "office exercises". There are diagrams and everything.
DeleteIt's so great having a week where all your reads just work!
ReplyDeleteThere are three people that work at my office, and we all have fitbits. My boss is always complaining because his is constantly buzzing him, reminding him to move! I try to get up as often as I can, because it's so easy to just let time slip away and realize you haven't gotten up in two hours!
I gave up on my Fitbit, but a lot of my co-workers have them. When it's nice, there are always a lot of people walking the campus during their break, because it's actually a really nice campus.
DeleteOoh very nice!! Looks like a theme there with your first four newly acquired books! ;;;) Lol.
ReplyDeleteAll totally new to me ones but I hope you will thoroughly enjoy them all!
Here's my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Lots of interesting romance freebies this week.
DeleteThat's great to hear about the vacation count down :) I hope the days get less busy, I've had a really hard month. Your new hauls look great!
ReplyDeleteI hope things slow down for you too. Take care of yourself, so you don't get sick.
DeleteAHHHH ENJOY YOUR VACATION! I AM SUPER JEALOUS. ♥ Also I'm resisting the temptation to click on the cover reveal tweet... How are you liking Hearts Unbroken? I have it for review as well!
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway through. It wanders a little, but I think the author has an important POV, and I am interested to get the full picture.
DeleteI'm super excited about the new Veronica Mars series! Have fun on your vacation!!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
VMars still one of my fave shows.
DeleteThat Florida weather sounds like hell!!! 90s!! Man, I sure hope it cools down a bit. I went in August some time back and it was the worst. I could feel my skin melt. But yay, vacation though! I hope you have a good week ahead! :)
ReplyDeleteI lived in North FL for 6.5 years, and it's not just hot, it's really humid. That's why we never went to Disney in the summer, but I remember it being nicer in October. Hoping for the best, and I do get to see my daughter for the first time in 4 months too.
DeleteHurray for being healthy at work! And yeah, I'm also hoping the weather cools down before you get here. XD I'm so interested in Broken Things so I'm glad to see you enjoyed it. I hope you love all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteI liked Broken Things, but I am a fan of Oliver's storytelling. Maybe I'm biased, but I was motivated to keep reading, and really happy with the ending.
DeleteWhat a cool idea for your office! I think that is great! Hopefully Florida cooperates and doesn't feel like the surface of the sun in time for your vaca!
ReplyDeleteYeah. We try to keep in real in the secure room. I mean, we spend 8 hours a day in a room with no windows.
DeleteSo many lovely looking books! Thanks for sharing. Someday I plan to read Lauren Oliver.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
My favorite LO book is Before I Fall. Interesting concept and execution, and amazing character development. I cried at the end, because the character grew and changed so much. I wanted more for her.
DeleteI am up and down and all over the place at my work. It would be hard to just sit all day. Vacation countdown is exciting. I hope the weather cooperates with you. I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!
ReplyDeleteI am serious desk jockey now, which is odd after 12 years of teaching. Maybe my butt is bigger, but my mental health is so much better.
DeleteOMG Sam thanks for the links to karen 's soundtrack as I loved her book too and now seeing The NOVL covers ...yes!!!! Happy reading week (I confess that The Healer's cover is just so pretty!) Sophie @bewareofthereader
ReplyDeleteCover reveals are good for distracting me from the books I am supposed to be reading. >_<
DeleteI sort of liked the way the covers from this week's TBR all worked together.
I stand up every hour while I’m working. I don’t exercise, though. I just wander around and occasionally search for food. (I guess I do the opposite of exercise when I stand up.) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Maybe you just get hungry from all that moving around. =)
DeleteI FREAKED OUT when I saw Kristen Bell's video about more VMars! Love that show and can't wait to get new episodes! I was also recently approved for My Favorite Half Night Stand, and I want to read it so much but am trying to wait until closer to release (lets see if I can make it lol). Looks like you had such a good reading week, good luck with your next books!
ReplyDeleteThe last few CLo books have been winners for me, so really excited about Half-Night Stand. I can't wait to read it!
DeleteI don't have Hulu, but this VM news is making me reconsider. I've got to pick up Brief Chronicle of Another Stupid Heartbreak. Hope you enjoy your week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteI don't have Hulu, but my daughter does. I will make her watch it with me when she visits. I like Alsaid, and I don't read enough YA books by male writers.
DeleteI'm lucky that my job is a physical one and keeps me limber. It's those days at home on the couch that make my bones protest. LOL I live on the Gulf Coast and I don't see it cooling down for you yet. Maybe from 90s to 80s.
ReplyDeleteIn hindsight, I wished I had become a forest ranger or something that kept me active and outdoors, but instead, I went to engineering school and never worked as an engineer. -_-
DeleteI can deal with the 80s. I just don't want it to be 95 when I am there.
OOh, vacation count down time! :) Getting up each hour sounds like a great office idea.
ReplyDeleteTen days!!! It's so easy to get into the flow of things, and then turn around, and two hours have passed. I try to drink enough water, so that my bladder reminds me to get up. XD
DeleteYay for new episodes of Veronica Mars! I loved the show and movie. Hope you enjoy Don't Call Me Cupcake. I thought it was real cute! :)
ReplyDeleteCupcake is really cute. I could totally see this as a Hallmark movie if they omit all the sexy times.
DeleteAHH!! A Looking for Alaska series? I really need Hulu now. LOL That's my favorite John Green book though, and I think a series would be great instead of just a movie. Thanks for sharing. :) I'm glad to see you liked Broken Things too - I want to read that!
ReplyDelete-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
Oddly enough, I am in the minority, and though I enjoyed Alaska, it's my least favorite. But then again, my favorite JG is Katherines, which everyone seemed to hate.
DeleteNew follower here :) (I mean, when I saw the sloths, I just had to!!)
ReplyDeleteGreat book picks! Can't wait to read your reviews! I was on the fence about reading The Geography of Lost Things but your 5 stars makes me think I should try it...
Here's my weekly wrap-up: { The Sunday Post }: September 23, 2018
Welcome, Jillian! Yes, Sloth is so special to us here at WLABB, the he became our theme. I loved Geography, and it surprised me how much I loved it, because Brody always seems to do something that makes her books less than perfect for me, but not this time.
DeleteWHEN DO YOU LEAVE FOR DISNEY?? I hope you know that I expect hourly updates.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your office is working out together, I need to often remind myself to drink water and walk around.
I'm happy you liked Broken Things!
A week from Wednesday. I am excited, but will be more excited if the weather could improve, you know what I'm saying? It's only a minute break per hour, but people are enjoying it.
DeleteOooh! A book soundtrack! Sounds awesome! Hope you have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
I like that McManus put that together.
DeleteYay for upcoming vacation. I am so jealous of you TBH :P I hope you enjoy your time off.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Looking for Alaska series is finally coming? I can't wait.
That office work-out seems like a fun thing :D Your haul look since. I hope you enjoy your new books. Have a lovely week ahead.
All of my vacations since 2016 have been moving my daughter in and out of places, so I am excited for a real vacation and being reunited with my little sloth for the first time since June. I am interested to see how they adapted that book. I can't envision Alaska as a series, but let's see what they did.
DeleteYay for vacation countdown!!! I think its cool your office does that. I haveHulu now so I hope that Looking for Alaska series comes pot soon! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou will have to report back to me, and let me know if Alaska is worth my time. I don't watch a lot of TV, and hate spending TV time on shows that just aren't worth it.
DeleteHoliday time! So exciting. We went to Florida last October and the temperatures were hot but not unbearable unlike when we visited before in June. Hope you have a great time when it comes!
ReplyDeleteCentral FL is pretty much hot for a good portion of the year, but 90s, ewwwww!
DeleteYay vacation countdown! Ugh, yeah, I'm going to visit my parents in Florida this week and not looking forward to it being even hotter than it already is in Atlanta. I just want the temperature to drop below 85 and end my suffering, haha. I have been interested in Geography of Lost Things, so I'm glad to see you enjoyed it! I really liked Hearts Unbroken. Can't wait to see what you think of all your new books and upcoming reads!
ReplyDeleteI am ok with 80s, but I can't deal with 90 degree weather. I really appreciated the way the author approached certain things. Definitely left me in a thoughtful place. Hope you have a fun and safe trip to FL.
Deleteyay vacation in Florida! You must be so excited. It is great when you have other people to exercise with. So good luck! I cannot wait to hear about Broken Things!
ReplyDeleteVery excited for vacation. I haven't been on a real vacation in 2 years, and I haven't seen my daughter in 4 months. I always have a nice time with her.
DeleteThanks for all the great shares. Office exercise sounds like a hoot.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
It was a lot of fun squatting with my teammates
Delete*clicks so fast on the Cover Reveals because I need to gaze upon these beauties* I'm intrigued to see what you end up thinking of When the Truth Unravels, since it seems like such an interesting book with all the feels. Wonderful post, Sam! :)
ReplyDeleteCover reveals are always bad for my TBR, because it causes them to grow and grow.
DeleteHa, that's funny about the office exercise, but also a great idea! It probably is a good idea to stand up and move every so often if you can. I haven't read that book, but I love book soundtracks! I'd love it if more authors made them.
ReplyDeleteI commend all those people, who are able to come up with playlists. Obviously, the author has a good grasp of the "mood music", but I have seen lists, which have impressed me by bloggers too.
DeleteYay holiday countdown, I am supremely jealous because upon returning from mine I now want to start planning my next one. I had to laugh at you office exercises though because that's the kind of thing my company would do to encourage staff to get active. I can picture all the staff and it would be funny. I was totally psyched at the VM news but also nervous (because I love that show I've every right to be nervous about it).
ReplyDeleteOne week!!!! My company actually sponsors a get active program, which lasts several months. This year, participants earned Amazon cards, last year I got a $25 Nike card, and the year before I earned a $40 Fitbit credit. It's Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas - I think the new eps will be great.
DeleteYay for the vacation countdown and I hope it cools down a bit for you before you get there. Glad to hear you had such a great reading week too. I love weeks like that.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is not looking great, but at least I will be in the happiest place on earth with my favorite person on earth.
DeleteI almost pee'd myself with "You know I am a cover ho..." LOL, still laughing. I am too. I buy a lot of books based on covers. OMG, so me. Nice that you are going on vacation. I don't have time for that yet. But, when I do I want to go somewhere special just don't know where yet. Have a wonderful week Sam!
ReplyDeleteMary
Hey, I am shallow. I love a beautiful cover. I have not been a real vacation for years, because all I was doing was moving my daughter all over the place. I was hoping the weather would be better, but I know I will still have some fun.
DeleteSam what a huge haul! I'm looking forward to reading the new Alsaid book as I loved the first book.
ReplyDeleteangelica @ paperback princess
I have only read his last book, but I have his previous releases and may do a backlist thing when I review the new book
DeleteThanks for sharing that upcoming bookish news! :D
ReplyDeleteAlways happy to share good news
DeleteWow that is a lot of books! And coincidentally I just posted my thoughts on One of Us is Lying earlier this week.
ReplyDeleteGayathri @ Elgee Writes
I hope your thoughts were good, because I really liked that book. =)
DeleteI'm glad you could enjoy Restore Me! I still need to read the third book actually so I am going to have to read that one soon. And yay for holiday! I hope you were avle to enjoy your break :)
ReplyDeleteVacation was good, but now I am exhausted, as Disney is not a relaxing type vacation. It might be good to wait for the next two books in the Shatter Me series to be released, because the 4th book left me so frustrated!!
Delete
