Top Ten Tuesday: What Comes Next!

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

What Comes Next!

So, that's vague, right? What I am eluding to are sequels I can't wait to read. Many of these are continue stories, where previous books left me hanging or were just set in worlds I can't get enough of. Whatever the reason, I am really happy, that the authors have graced me with additional books.

The Iron Will of Genie Lo
F.C. Yee
Series: The Epic Crush of Genie Lo, #2
Publisher: Amulet Books

Genie Lo was my kind of girl. I had so much fun with her and Quinten, but I felt like they had more stories to tell. Sure enough, Yee made a Twitter announcement that there would be more Genie Lo books. Still no cover or release date, but I know it's being written, and I am excited.

The Towering Sky
Katharine McGee
Series: The Thousandth Floor, #3
Publisher: HarperCollins

I have really been enjoying this series, and was quite pleased with the direction McGee took some of the characters in the last book. This is it, the finale, and I am really curious to see how it wraps up.

Wildcard
Marie Lu
Series: Warcross, #2
Publisher: G.P. Putnam

My love for Marie Lu is no secret, and as expected, I loved Warcross. I sort of really need this book now, and am insanely jealous of all the people, who already read it or have a copy, because I was NOT a happy camper at the end of Warcross, and need some answers...NOW!

Fierce Like a Firestorm
Lana Popović
Series: Hibiscus Daughter, #2
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

Popović's debut was enthralling. It was beautifully written and so magical. The story really ramped up towards the end of the first book, and I am curious to see where it goes. I also am really looking forward to revisiting this world, because I know there's a lot more to learn about it.

Two Dark Reigns
Kendare Blake
Series: Three Dark Crowns, #3
Publisher: HarperTeen

I am in way too deep with this series. I must really, really like it, because Blake has me reading novellas. I don't read novellas. And now I have all these theories, and I am eager to find out if I am right.

Queen of Air and Darkness
Cassandra Clare
Series: The Dark Artifices, #3
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books

I, Sam, am a Shadowhunters fan, and will read all Clare's books. There, I said it, but besides being a fan of this world, I also need to see how Clare ends TDA. The ending of the last book left me in a bad place, but I would like to think it's all part of the master plan.

The Vanishing Stair
Maureen Johnson
Series: Truly Devious, #2
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books

Who knew I liked mysteries so much? Because, I throughly enjoyed the first book in this series. It was filled with great characters, an intriguing setting, and gave me a twofer mystery. I know I will happily return Ellingham Academy, because we have some mysteries to solve.

The Map From Here to There
Emery Lord
Series: The Start of Me and You, #2
Publisher: Bloomsbury

So, I stumbled upon this sequel on Goodreads. I am hoping it's legit, and not just some GR librarian messing with my head, because more Emery Lord is always a good thing. No cover, no release date, but I am hoping it will come sooner than later.

Royals #2
Rachel Hawkins
Series: Royals, #2
Publisher: Penguin Random House

Royals was a utter delight for me. I am a big fan of Hawkins humor, and it shined, as always in Royals #1. When I saw on Twitter, that this was going to be a series, I was beyond happy, and cannot wait until we learn more about it.

Finding Claire Collins
Shannon Klare
Series: Surviving Adam Meade, #2
Publisher: Wattpad

I recently finished Surviving Adam Meade, and just adored it. Everyone knows I am a greedy, greedy reader, and always want more of the "after". Apparently, this was on Wattpad. I still haven't decided if I will read it there or wait to see if this will get a release, since many times the authors rework their Wattpad books. Either way, I am happy to get more of Claire and Adam's romance.

  1. I feel like I’m missing out by only having read The Mortal Instruments by Clare. I think I need to get going on all her other books.

    1. TID was probably one of her best series, in my opinion, but I have enjoyed them all.

  2. I made a conscious decision to not read The Dark Artifices and I've been low-key rethinking that decision ever since. After six books in The Mortal Instruments and 3 books in The Infernal Devices, I decided I was good. Plus it seems like I read somewhere that before starting Lady Midnight you needed to have read certain novellas or something (is that even right?) and overall I just decided I didn't need to continue. But with every review I saw of Lady Midnight, and then every review of Lord of Shadows... I started to think, "Well, maybe...?" Gah!

    1. I am enjoying TDA. I liked the mixing of old and new characters/generations, and I LOVE the Blackthorns. I have not read any of the novellas, so not sure about that. I think reading TMI and TDI are a plus, because we revisit characters and the world, but I fell like it's only necessary for purists(?)

  3. Wildcard and Two Dark Reigns are probably my top two awaited books this year yet.

    1. I have a feeling there will be no ARCs for TDR and I was already rejected for Wildcard. The wait it killing me!

    1. I am terrible with series, and have been really particular about which ones I start. I think it is easy for me because i usually only read contemporaries and there are not too many series in that genre

  7. I hadn't heard of any of these series. Do you read a lot of series in general?

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

  8. I am excited for Genie Lo! That was such a fabulous book. Also I have yet to read book 2 in the Cassie Clare series because of the cliffhanger, but I can't wait for the finale. It's gonna be one heck of a ride!

    1. If I had known LoS was going to end like that, I would have waited too. I was worried about more spoilers after the BookCon moderators revealed something major, so I jumped in

  9. I have the first two books in The Thousandth Floor series. I have been trying to get my daughter to read them, but she is still chugging along in the 5th wave. :)

  13. So looking forward to Two Dark Reigns. I picked up one of the novellas at the library but haven't gotten to it yet. The next Arc of the Scythe book can't come soon enough for me either. I honestly think one thing I miss most about my pre-blogging life is that I was less aware of new books coming out, so I tended to pick up series that were already done, and got to just read the whole thing one after the other!

    1. Kiersten raves about the Scythe books. I really enjoy going back and bingeing older series. I recently did that with the Anna books, the Summer I Turned Pretty. And Ruby Oliver. It's great not having to wait.

  14. Yes, I can't wait to see what's next for Genie Lo. Hope these all turn out to be amazing reads.

    1. I want lots of Genie Lo adventures. I mean, it's possible give how many baddies were released.

  15. I'm so excited for Queen of Air and Darkness too! It means I can finally READ The dark artifices! I already own the first two of the series, I just can't bring myself to read them until the final is out knowing the author's penchant for leaving you hanging in an uncomfortable place! :/

    1. I jumped on the series when it came out. I have FOMO and hate spoilers. Although, the moderator at BookCon let something major about LoS slip back in 2017. I was so mad!

  16. I pre-ordered Wildcard in April. I can't say enough good things about Marie Lu.

I just started reading The Mortal Instruments a couple of months ago. It's taking the library forever to get the next book to me. Eventually I'll get to The Queen of Air and Darkness...

    1. Marie Lu is a fave of mine, and that's saying a lot, because I don't read a lot of fantasy. My co-bloggers all bonded over their shared love for TMI, so I had access to all those books. I am really happy with the new series too.

  17. I read The Thousandth Floor a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it! Hopefully I'll remember to continue with the series!

  18. Royals and Wildcard for sure are two sequels that I can't wait for! The rest of them I sadly haven't read the previous books for them, but I think I'm going to have to if you're super eager for the next ones. Wonderful picks, Sam! :)

    1. Wildcard is one I need for sure. The ending put me a bad place. Marie Lu needs to fix that mess, but knowing her, we will have to suffer all of book 2, and then she will fix it in book 3.

  19. Wildcard is definitely near the top of the list of sequels that I'm excited to read. I also can't wait to get my hands on Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor and The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden.

    1. I have heard amazing things about the Laini Taylor series. I have yet to read a book by her, but we have a few.

  20. I am finally, finally reading Warcross, yay! And then you know, Wildcard either immediately or 6 years after. Who can tell? I am SO excited for Two Dark Reigns! I have been holding off on The Queens of Fennbirn just so I can "catch up" on the world closer to the release. And I need to START pretty much all these other series, oops? OH but the Emery Lord thing IS legit hah. Also, you won the Discussion Challenge giveaway! I need to DM you but I am trying to hold myself accountable because I keep forgetting. I am terrible and I am sorry, but yay for a book?

    1. I won the challenge and was featured blogger. So much love in one place!!! I think I have one TDC novella to read (and they have it at the library), but that's a good idea to wait till closer to the release. I have zero time to read it right now anyhow.
