Can't-Wait Wednesday: The Curses - Laure Eve

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I can't wait for The Curses by Laure Eve!

The Curses
Laure Eve
Series: The Graces, #2
Release Date: January 9, 2018
Publisher: Amulet Books
Waited on by: Sam and Kiersten
Picking up the pieces after the chilling events of the previous year isn’t easy, but the Graces are determined to do it. Wolf is back after a mysterious disappearance, and everyone’s eager to return to normal. Except for Summer, the youngest Grace. Summer has a knack for discovering the truth—and something is troubling her. After a trail of clues leads her to what could be the key to both her family’s mysterious past and the secret of Wolf, she’s determined to vanquish yet another curse. But exposing secrets is a dangerous game, and it’s not one Summer can win alone.

At Summer’s behest, the coven comes back together, reluctantly drawing their erstwhile friend River back into the fold. But Wolf’s behavior becomes unpredictable even as Fenrin’s strength fades, and Summer must ask herself whether the friend she so loves is also planning her family’s ultimate, cursed demise.

This riveting sequel to The Graces is saturated with magic, the destructive cost of power, the complications of family, and the nature of forgiveness.
Both Kiersten and I were fans of the first book in this series, The Graces, and can't wait for the sequel. The Graces were a rather mysterious family who were reminiscent of the Cullen family. I loved the atmosphere, mystery, and mysticism of their world, but the real mystery was River. She wormed her way into the Graces' inner circle, but she fell from their good graces. Then there was the ending! I am really eager to find out what precipitated from those final actions.

  1. I haven't yet gotten around to Graces, but the family angle sounds good and it's quite some time since I saw that in books! Thanks for bringing this series on my radar, Sam! xx

    1. I read the first book back in May 2016, and I feel like a black sheep on this one, but I really liked the first book, which surprised even me, as I do lean more light and fluffy. There was just something about it that called to my inner teen-self, the one who wore Doc Martens and all black.

    1. The first book ended just as soon as I was starting to get some answers to my questions. I am pretty excited to get a return visit to that world, and hopefully, lots of answers.

    1. The first book was a solid, atmospheric paranormal read, and I am curious to see where it goes, because the ending of the Graces was quite jarring.

  6. I just grabbed the first one from my library and hope to get it read sometime this month (or early January). I've heard great things and love paranormal books but I'm worried about the Cullen reference - not a Twilight fan.

    1. It's not Twilighty. The family just has that Cullenesque coolness and insular tendency. I hope you like it!

  7. I haven't read the first book of this series, although there is a lot of blurb surrounding it. I think I may have to take a look at The Graces.

    Happy readings! ;)

    1. I have to give credit where credit is due, my co-blogger name dropped the Cullens, and she is more qualified than me to make that assessment, so I trust her.
