Top Ten Tuesday - I Pity the Fool

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

I Pity the Fool!

Happy Tuesday! In honor of April Fool's Day, I am sharing books I was a fool about. These are books I absolutely adored, but for some reason, I delayed reading the book. It could have been the mixed reviews, that it was outside my comfort zone, a format that I struggle with (short stories), an ARC that I put off, way too hyped, was an adaptation, or maybe it was a celebrity book club pick (I know, I am a petty B). Regardless, something made me pick these books up, and I felt like a fool for thinking these books would not work for me.

  1. Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
  2. The Measure by Nikki Erlick
  3. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
  4. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
  5. The Bookstore Sisters by Alice Hoffman
  1. The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen
  2. My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan
  3. Again Again by E. Lockhart
  4. The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo
  5. The Map of Tiny Perfect Things by Lev Grossman

What book were you a fool about?

  1. I love your take on April Fools!

    😂

See? You CAN leave your comfort zone at times, at least when it comes to books (maybe not enough to start reading thrillers or horror, but hey...to each their own, and that's OK!).

    1. The books I tried outside my comfort zone were recommended by my daughter who understands me quite well. She has yet to be wrong.

    1. I am not interested in all her books, but I have enjoyed the ones I did read. I am always leery of super hyped authors, but she won me over with Carrie Soto.

    1. I fell for so many posts on IG. I kept forwarding stuff to my kid, and she was like "april fools". I am too trusting for this holiday

    1. That was an arc I sat on for like a year. When I read it, I felt like I really missed out. It was wonderful. I might cry right now just thinking about it.

  5. I put off The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy too! I didn't think I'd like the romance, but I liked pretty much everything about the book.

    1. I put it off because I don't read much fantasy, but that book was done so well. I feel it can appeal to many readers. So glad you enjoyed it as well.
