Fictional Podcasts!
Happy Tuesday! Do I have unpopular bookish opinions? For sure, but I hate to be a nelly-negative especially when I am already feeling funky. I decided to go rogue. This topic was inspired by some recent reading. I wouldn't say podcasts in books are a new thing as they have been present for quite some time, but they seems to be making a resurgence, at least in the books I have been reading.
It's been a long time since I listened to a podcast. I remember downloading them from iTunes onto my iPod (I said it's been a while). I mostly listened to music programs with Hi, My Name is Mark being my favorite. Do you listen to podcasts? Do you have a favorite? Have you noticed an uptick of this media in the book you have read lately?
- Tell Me How You Really Feel by Betty Cayouette
- Back After This by Linda Holmes
- What If You & Me by Roni Loren
- The Other Side of Disappearing by Kate Clayborn
- The Ex Talk by Rachel Solomon
- Better Than Revenge by Kasie West
- Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
- Hana Kahn Carries On by Uzma Jalaluddin
- Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West
- Sadie by Courtney Summers

Sadie has made such an impression on me that I still remember it years later!
ReplyDeleteIt was so well done. So sad and bleak, but well done.
DeleteThe only of these I've read is Sadie. Yes, I have read more books with podcasts, most of them are thrillers or mysteries though.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be very popular with that genre. Maybe they are tapping into the True Crime podcast listener group that already exists.
DeleteI have listened to a bit of Fantasy Fangirls podcast, but I'm not a huge podcast listener. However, I for some reason really like when they're included in books. I absolutely loved What If You & Me.
ReplyDeleteSame! Maybe it's like sports with me. LOL!
DeleteI don't listen to podcasts but coincidentally I just recently read a book where the fmc was a true crime podcaster (All the Missing Pieces by Catherine Cowles).
ReplyDeleteI feel like it's even more popular with thriller/suspense books. Cowles does some romantic suspense, no?
DeleteShe does. In fact, most of her books have some level of suspense.
DeleteI think Sadie is the only podcast book I've read. I rarely listen to podcasts because I prefer music or audiobooks.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer audiobooks. Sadie really stood out for me. It was so well done.
DeleteI don't listen to that many podcasts either although I've been recommended a few. The latest one I've listened to is A Bit Fruity and I enjoy the content! Sadie was my first audiobook and I loved how they made the story and podcast come to life. I think the only ones that I've read with podcasts have been mystery/thrillers though so it would be interesting to check them out in different genres. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI regretted that I read Sadie after hearing how great the audio version was.
