My Week in Review
Happy Sunday and Welcome Spring! The weather is improving and so is my mood. Always happy to say goodbye to winter, but I actually have a few things to look forward to this spring.
Work has been really busy. Our numbers are always high during tax season. It's been a marathon for sure, and I have been really tired. I have another short week as I have a doctor's appointment on Friday. I always make my appointments early in the day, so I can have the rest free and clear.
I don't know who I follow that subscribes to TaiChi with Mom on Instagram, but I am glad she showed up on my feed. I paid so much money for PT and still had neck and shoulder pain. "Mom" has great, easy exercises that are helping with my mobility.

Stacking the Shelves
I got some great books this week. My approval for Ellen O'Clover's adult debut was very exciting. I am really looking forward to this book. I also got an invite for the new Josie Silver that had me dancing a jig. I got a bunch of YA book invites. It's ironic that when I was really a LOT of YA, I never got invites but now I do. Love, Canter, Action caught my eye. I might download that one.

Read Last Week
This was a good and interesting reading week.
As expected, Before We Say Goodbye was great. There was one story that had me sobbing! Very touching.
O'Leary's latest was different in that it had that survival element as a big part of the story. There were some intense moments, then she threw the curve ball. I am not sure how I feel about it, but I did adore the way it all worked out.
Fun for the Whole Family was a fantastic family drama, but put me in a serious hangover state. I cried so much and so hard, I had a headache and was snotting all over. That's why I had to pick up a light and fluffy romance after. Smith did this to me with The Comeback Season, too. Just gutted me.
King surprised me in a good way. I always enjoy Bennett's hockey romances, but this one had me feeling a giddy and gleeful from the beginning. It leaned low drama, and maybe it was just the right book at the right time. It was also interesting that I was reading TWO age gap romances (King and Swept Away) where the heroine was eight years older than the hero. Expect to see that in one of my Six Degrees posts.

OMG! I am so in love with First-Time Caller! I have shed a multitude of happy tears already. It's funny and sweet and relatable. So good!
A Forty Year Kiss is interesting. The idea that this man wants to win back his first wife forty years later. The fact that there were still sparks. And though he had grown a lot over those years, the root cause of their divorce still seems to be there in some form. Curious to see where it goes.

I'm glad your weather is improving! It's 26 degrees here right now. :) Happy spring!
ReplyDeleteThat's cold. Luckily, it has been above freezing, but I live a lot closer to sea level than you do.
Delete"I paid so much money for PT and still had neck and shoulder pain. "Mom" has great, easy exercises that are helping with my mobility."
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable LOL. Professionals fail us, and the "free" internet gives us solutions...
I loved the dog video - especially the tiny dog waiting for the schoolchild to get off the bus...
I do wonder how the invites thing work (I've never gotten invites, though). From what I see on your blog, they don't really seem to be tailored to the reader's preferences...
The unconditional love of a pet is wonderful thing. I cannot resist a cute pup. I get such random invites, but I should be flattered for any offers.
DeleteLooks like you had a good week of reads!! I'm gonna go check out TaiChi mom for sure!
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think of Mom. A few minutes in the morning really helps me get going.
DeleteI am glad to see winter go away too Sam! And these welcome with the dogs are so true!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a lot of snow, but it was cold this year. Fingers crossed March doesn't pull any wildcards on us.
DeleteIt's getting warm here almost 90 this week. I'm glad you were able to find some free exercises that helped.
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely not ready for 90s. EEK! But I am enjoying the mild temperatures (50s-60s)
DeleteI do the exact same thing with my doctor appointments! It’s always fun getting approval on a book you’re really excited about. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI work 40 miles away, so I am not doing any half day thing. May as well make it a good day for me. I also find the doctors tend to keep those early appointments and get backed up later in the day.
DeleteWe're warming up as well! Love spring. Summer is another story, but it depends on how hot it gets. I'm currently reading First-Time Caller and I agree, it's cute. I will be reading Swept Away soon. I like the element of survival in a story. Now I'm wondering what the twist is. She always has one, right?
ReplyDeleteWinter and summer earn equal ire from me. I hate extremes. I just finished Caller. So good! YES! O'Leary loves a good twist. The on from The No-Show still haunts me. This one was not as OMG, but it was major. I read some reviews and readers felt about that twist the way I felt about The No-Show twist. I was meh about it, but I still loved the book.
