Sundays with Sam - The Sunday Post

Sundays with Sam is a combination of Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

My Week in Review

Happy Sunday! Hope all are doing well. I don't have much to report. It was another humdrum week for me. I had to use one of my leftover vacation days before the end of the quarter, so I was off on Friday. I thought I would catch up, but I was not super productive. The only errand I had was going to Whole Foods to see if they had my Blueland soap tablets (they did). Going there reminded me why I don't go there. Does anyone work any more? Every time I have a day off and head somewhere, it's always busy. How can so many people shop in the middle of the day? I wasted a lot of time and wish I had used it to catch up on reviews. I have five library books with no reviews. *hangs head in shame*

I am trying to do some research for my trip in the fall. I don't have to plan too much, but I do have more responsibilities than I normally do. We already books the pre-cruise hotel and purchased our Starlight Express tickets. We will take the train from London to the ship terminal, but I have to look into if we need to reserve tickets. I took the subway when I was in London, so I know nothing about the suburban trains. I am leaning towards purchasing transfer from the ship to the airport through the cruise line. I get too nervous about missing flights. I feel like that will be the best bet. I am going to book my tickets with the cruise line as well. Probably the end of this month. In June, we can book our shore excursions, so I have a while to think about that.

Stacking the Shelves

I was pretty excited when I went to Edelweiss and saw a new Jill Shalvis book for download. It's not with her normal publisher, but it's Shalvis, so you know I one-clicked. I got a few invites for books I already have and the two below which I am not really sure are "me" books.

Read Last Week

The week started and ended with five-star books. I loved the new Moyes book. It was such a fun story of family and forgiveness. I throughly enjoyed it, and I loved Crash Landing. I was pretty sure this was going to be a hit for me because I cannot resist a second chance romance, but the survival aspect made this even better than I thought it would be.

Currently Reading

I am doing a re-listen of My Life with the Walter Boys in preparation for reading the sequel. I read this book back in 2014, and I thought it called for a refresher. The brother drama reminds me of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Why do YA books pit brothers against each other? I hate that when it comes to love triangles, but I am enjoying watching Jackie acclimating to her life with the MASSIVE Walter family as she attempts to bond with each member of the brood.

  1. You taught me a new word today..."humdrum". Looking forward to using it in one of my monthly recaps...you know, the few ones where no drama happens 😬.

Planning a vacation sounds stressing! But then again, you're a pro by now. I wouldn't know where to start.

That video is adorable and so wholesome! The trust level of that little creature (probably mixed with curiosity, but still).

    1. When I think of the word humdrum, I think of this episode of Happy Days. It was a crossover with Mork from Ork. Very memorable. I am NOT a vacation pro. I always do tours. I hate planning. The only think keeping me on any social platform are the wholesome vids. Everything else is people soapboxing or pot stirring which I am NOT interested in.

  2. Most of the people I know have a nontraditional work schedule. I'm usually off on random days in the middle of the week, so I'm one of those people at the grocery store on a Wednesday. Or at 10 PM on a random Monday.

    1. Back in the day, if I took a day off during the week, it was a great time to run errands. I miss those days.

  3. It's so much fun to plan for a trip! Are you getting on the ship from London? I feel like trains in Europe and UK are pretty well organized. Way better than here, but I understand not wanting to miss your trip because of an unexpected delay. Plus, if you book for the cruise and they have a delay, they'll wait for you or make arrangements. We mostly booked our excursions on our own because the cruise is usually so pricey, but out the country trips like Caribbean and Mexico we did through cruise line. Safer I think.

Thrilled you loved the Jojo Moyes book! I like the sound of Crash Landing. I'm going to check that out.

    1. I absolutely hate planning trips. I would rather pay someone else to do it. This was my daughter's idea. She should be doing more work here. We are going to London a few days early to see the show and on Monday will go out to Southampton. It's a few hours away. I always book my air/land via the cruise line for the reason you mentioned - they will make sure I get there. I have had good luck with Moyes, so I wasn't shocked I enjoyed the book. It reminded me a bit of One Plus One which was one my favorites by her.
