Top Ten Tuesday - Cry, Cry, Cry

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's topic is...

Cry, Cry, Cry!

Happy Tuesday! We have another freebie this week. When I was trying to come up with a topic, I was actually nursing a reading hangover thanks to reading TWO Renee Carlino books in a row. Both ended with me shedding tears - one happy, one sad, but both were such emotional books for me.

In all honestly, I always seem to cry a little with just about every book I read, but these are books that I will break down in tears as I talk about them with people. There was just something so profoundly sad or touching about them that brings all those emotions to the surface when I think about them.

I tried to focus on books I read in the past year, but I found many were not necessarily released this year. Looking at the ten I selected, many involve a character dealing with cancer or a terminal illness, and some had characters who died as well. So, sad stuff, for sure, but they were also very touching and hopeful in their own way.
  1. This Used to Be Us by Renee Carlino
  2. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  3. The Secret of Hummingbird Cake by Celeste Fletcher McHale
  4. What Does It Feel Like? by Sophie Kinsella
  5. Boone by Sawyer Bennett
  1. Maybe Next Time by Cesca Major
  2. After Annie by Anna Quindlen
  3. The Last Love Note by Emma Grey
  4. Before I Go by Colleen Oakley
  5. Pack Up the Moon by Kristan Higgins

  1. I just reread Christmas Shopaholic, and that was making me cry happy tears!

    1. The ending! That word! I don't think there was a book after that, was there? Loved it! So much fun.

  2. While I've read a lot of these authors, I haven't read any of these particular books yet. I don't mind a book that makes me cry as long as the hopefulness over powers the sad.

    1. That is my requirement as well. I don't mind paying the price of my tears as long as I get a happy/hopeful ending.

  3. I love an ugly cry book too and yet I have read none of these!

  4. I don't like books that make me cry. But some do.

    1. I wouldn't say I seek them out, but if I come across a book that could be sad, I won't run.
