My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is doing well. It was a very quiet week here. Seriously, I went out to dinner last Sunday and didn't leave my house again until Friday.
I came down with some quick cold or something. Wednesday, my throat started feeling sore and I was achy and so tired. The next day, my throat was fine, but I was still exhausted and my head was so stuffy. Maybe I got covid at the wedding last week, or maybe it was some other virus/cold. Regardless, I was feeling much better by Friday and back to 100% by Saturday.
I saw in the paper that they are going to try and end Daylight Savings Time. This is what dreams are made of. I really hate the time change. Going to keep my eye on this in 2025.
Saturday was my mother's birthday. I got her a new tablet which she wanted, and we went out to eat. She had a bunch of celebrations with her friends during the week, so she was ok with a low-key day with me and my dad.

I was happy to get approved for the new Jane L. Rosen book. I really adore her stories and cannot wait to return to Fire Island with her. I got some great invites too. I guess they are doing something for the paperback release of The Marriage Sabbatical. That was a book that surprised me in a good way. When I first read the synopsis, I was thinking, NOT FOR ME. I am old fashioned and believe in you don't date when you are married and stuff like that, but Dolan did a good job with the story, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected.

What a banner week! Rewitched had been one of my CWW picks, and it was everything I hoped it would be. It was warm and cozy with some interesting magic. Simply an utter delight. How to Save a Life was emotional but some uplifting. It's one of those books that makes you reflect on life and living and what matters. I seem to be so deep in my old age. Small Things Like These was a novella I added to my TBR after seeing in on so many Novella November wrap ups. This book was short but really packed a punch.

I was delighted to find that Into the Woods is set in the same world as Holiday's last book. I love that! The book is also lots of fun so far, and I love that the female main character is a bit older (turning 40).
Higgins is hitting me in my feels as expected. I am worried about these women right now, but I know their lives will change for the better.

At least your sickness was short! and you weren't meant to leave the house anyway.
ReplyDelete"I saw in the paper that they are going to try and end Daylight Savings Time."
I know how much you hate it, so I'm crossing my fingers for you...
Those cats are so funny. The looks some of them will give you LOL.
I really only leave the house for work during the week. I save errands and whatnot for non-working days, but it was good that whatever bug I had passed quickly. It sapped the energy right out of me. I think we often under estimate what animals understand, so I relished their reactions.
DeleteMy daughter and I had a similar bug. I don't know anyone with covid right now, but I know a few people that have tested positive for flu. And I seem to be breaking everything around here this week, so I'm hoping this coming week goes much better!
ReplyDeleteIf that was the flu for me, I am grateful because the one time I had the flu it was like dying. Hope the week goes well for you!
DeleteHappy belated birthday to your mom! And I am glad that you are feeling better! Also that performing magic for cats had me laughing so loud!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose cats had me smiling. Loved it!
DeleteI'm not a Trump fan, but I will give him props if he can accomplish getting rid of daylight savings time. I am OVER IT. Glad you weren't sick for too long! I'm hoping mine goes away quickly as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to end that disaster. It's so disruptive. I cannot understand why we cling to this.
DeleteGood to hear you are feeling better. Happy belated birthday to your mom.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSorry to hear you got sick, too! Happy to hear it was a quick one and you're back to normal now. I like the cover of Into the Woods. Will check it out. Have a great week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteThey were a good couple. They bonded over their shared unstable childhoods and had very positive effects on each other's lives.
DeleteHappy birthday to your mom! Coming down with a cold is the worst, so I'm glad you got over it quickly!
ReplyDeleteIt was weird. Another blogger said she had something similar and so did my neighbor.
