My Week in Review
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is doing well. This week was spent celebrating my dad as he turned 80. We had gone out last Saturday, but then we also went out yesterday and on his birthday. There was a deal at Fogo de Chao, half price for veterans, so we finally went. Only dad did the full Brazilian steak house experience which, wow! That's a lot of meat. Mom and I got entrees. It was very good, and when we mentioned it was dad's birthday, we got a free tres leches cake.
This will be my last week in the office for the year. I am looking forward to saving some money and having more time. I envy all my co-workers who are full time WFH. It's like being paid more since you have no commuting fees, and working less since they don't have to commute or do any prep for going to work. I am determined to use the extra time better. I may sign up for a class to get a certification or something. I haven't decided yet, but I will do something. Definitely workout more, but something else as well.

I picked up a few books this week. The Carlino book was on sale, and I always enjoy her books, so I one-clicked. Moore's book was free, and I adore festive books this time of year. Canterbary's was The Romance Book Club book this month. I don't download them all, but I like Canterbary's books. Harbinson is new to me, but the book was read-now and sounded like a good fit for me.

Read Last Week
I had a good reading week. Joy for Beginners and Poles Apart were both celebrations of female friendship which I really enjoyed. I continue to have great success with the Pine Hollow series. This time around, Shane gave me a second chance romance. I may have wanted to slap the hero for the reason he broke the heroine's heart, but I very much enjoyed the story.

I am not too far into Cousens' book, but I always enjoy her work.
This book by Higgins is something, as her books always tend to be. It's about the way our attitudes towards body image and weight can affect our lives. Some parts are pretty sad, but I trust Higgins to turn this around.

Omg, I'm more than a little jealous that the coming week is your last in the office! I WFH all of last week due to being sick but I really appreciate not having to fuss about to get ready for work and I can just dive straight into it whenever and also take a break whenever without feeling pressure to be "on" all the time! I hope you enjoy the WFH days ahead :) I'm a huge Canterbary fan and I also really enjoyed Moore's series of festive novellas. They're fun, sexy, and sweet! I believe there's another one coming out at the end of November, so I'm really looking forward to it! 😃 I hope you enjoy your reads and have a great week ahead, Sam!
ReplyDeleteThis will be my first from Moore. I thought a free book was a good place to start, but I have heard good things. I hope you have a great week, too!
DeleteEnjoy your weeks working from home Sam! And I hope you'll find something you like as workout!
ReplyDeleteI know I will.
DeleteHappy birthday to your dad.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSo nice that you'll be able to work from home for the next year! Commuting is such a frustrating waste of time. Happy to hear you enjoyed the continued birthday celebrations for your dad's birthday!
ReplyDeleteCommuting really is the pits though I will miss some of my co-workers. We have a nice team.
DeleteFogo de Chao was wild, glad you all enjoyed it! Tom did the full experience, too, while Henry and I had chicken, ha! What nice celebrations for your dad. Hooray for working at home and good on you for wanting to make the most of your free time. I've been working at home for over 4 years now, and it's nice to be able to get more stuff done during the week, as opposed to cramming it all in on the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt was a crazy amount of food. I just could not see me eating $71 worth, but since dad got it for half price, why not let him give it a go. He did like it. I tend to stick to my routines even when I work from home because it's not forever and I need to keep being able to manage my time right. That's why I will up my workouts and take a class vs. doing my chores. I will most likely take care of doctors appointments after work so that I don't have to take days off. I can get a few in before the new year.
DeleteYay for working from home the rest of the week! Hope you find something pleasing to do with your extra time. I enjoyed Shucked. I'll soon be reading Gilmore's The Pumpkin Spice Cafe.
ReplyDeleteI am almost done with The Christmas Tree farm and it's fun and cute. I could see myself circling back to the previous books.
DeleteHooray for WFH for the rest of the year! I WFH an occasional day here and there but that's about it. Because I support the Board it's really best if I'm with them in the office. But six weeks WFH sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteMy job is computer based and the others in my role are all in different states. I do like being in the office for collaboration, but I could use a break. I really wish we were 2 days in the office versus three. It would be better.
