Five Star Friday is my version of the monthly wrap-up. On the first Friday of each month, I will share my five-star reads from the previous month. Fingers crossed, I have lots of books to tell you about.
This month, I was able to read 22 books, and I had 1 five-star read.
All I Want Is You by Falon Ballard

Bitter exes. Professional rivals. Just one bed. What could go wrong?
Jessica Carrington always wanted her own happily ever after. But, until that happens, she spends her days as a small-time romance writer, penning satisfying Happily Ever Afters to soothe the heartache left by her ex-boyfriend Nick Matthews, a fellow romance writer and now her biggest rival, who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. It's clearly what he's good at, after all . . .
So, when their professional obligations find them snowed in - and forced to share a room! - at the same remote inn a few days before Christmas, Jess and Nick are both fuming. But what's more fitting for two romantic writers in a slump? And when they realise the friction between them might be the only cure for their writer's block, they decide to turn their frustration into fiction . . . and the pages start flying.
Jess can't shake the feeling that Nick is the last guy on earth she should be falling for (again), but, as they both finally get back in their flow, is he actually all she wants for Christmas?
It's a fact - Falon Ballard's books make me happy. It is always a delight to read one of her stories, and this time, she crafted a fantastic second chance romance. The setting and set up were fabulous, and I was hooked right from the very first page. I wanted to know why their relationship fell apart while I kept hoping for a reunion. The ending was everything I needed and had the happy tears flowing. Another great one from Ballard!

One is still good! I think I've had only one or two true 5-star reads this whole year!
ReplyDeleteAngela, I am sad for you. It's the 10th month of the year!!!
DeleteMy September was a bit off too. My only 5 star read was TJ Klune's Somewhere Beyond the Sea.
ReplyDeleteAt least we each had one, right?
Delete22 books is a lot for one month. I'm glad some were really good.
ReplyDeleteI objectively know it's a good number, but it's low for me.
DeleteI loved Out of the Clear Blue Sky, too! Lillie's acts of revenge were so fun and satisfying! I guess I get a little vindictive, lol!
ReplyDeleteHe deserved it. I could not stop saying, "what a jerk."
DeleteI only had one 5 star read in September as well. The Falon Ballard book sounds really good so I'll be adding that one to my holiday TBR.
ReplyDeleteBallards books are always great. Boo for only one five star book, but curious as to what it was.
DeleteI love the one bed (or one room) trope!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see how the author will utilize it
DeleteAll I Want is You calls to me, you know how much I love Christmas books. 4.5 stars isn't too shabby either.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Ballard fan. I have adored all her books. Yes, 4.5 is good, but I usually have more of those, too. This month started strong though.
