My Week in Review
Welcome May! Spring is definitely upon us with the coating of pollen on my car and oddly warm temperatures as proof. It was a slow week with my biggest thrill coming with trying to complete the Animal Crossing May Day maze. It was really hard this year. I had to call in for a rescue way too many times. So, yeah, that was my highlight of the week.
My child is coming to visit for Mother's Day, and we are going to migrate this site together. So, if it disappears, it didn't go well.
The kid and I were doing some intel gathering for next year's vacation. It will be for my 50th birthday. Hopefully, we will be able to do something rather fabulous. Maybe we will be able to take that 2020 vacation? We were salivating over the new Disney ship too. It looks amazing! Fingers crossed the cruise industry can come back, because I love cruising.

My top book of the week was Please Don't Hug Me. It's an epistolary novel, which is a format I enjoy, and I found myself totally wrapped up in the main character's thoughts and pain. I was surprised by Lucy Clark Will Not Apologize. I will admit to you, because we're friends, that I did not read the synopsis. The cover and title had me requesting this book, and it was a delight. This combination of mystery and coming of age was wonderful.

That's nice that your daughter is visiting for Mother's Day. And have fun planning your vacation- I hope you guys get to take that cruise. :)
ReplyDeleteIs that Dailycats for real? Wow!! And that coon fitting into the pipe... ??!?
Be well and have a great week! :)
Those cats were too adorable, and I guess the raccoons are more fluff than fat?
DeleteI guess so! They always say rats and mice or whatever can fit into surprisingly small spaces, but that coon... :)
DeleteGlad your daughter is coming soon! Yeah, I need a vacation myself. It's hard to try to plan for anything just yet since it seems the world is taking things on a day by day basis. Which I get, but for a planner like me, it's extremely hard to try to plan for anything. Lol.
ReplyDeleteNice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
We went on a vacation this year. We are trying to plan for next year. I don't know. I totally understand where you are coming from, because I like to plan. I love having my yearly trip to look forward too. It sometimes keeps me going, when things are not so great.
Delete"My child is coming to visit for Mother's Day, and we are going to migrate this site together. So, if it disappears, it didn't go well."
ReplyDeleteSo...you too? Oops 😂. Paid WP? Aww, I can't say I'm not sad about that. Everyone is leaving Blogger. I understand it's becoming harder and harder to stay, since they're cutting on everything - but SIGH.
Those cats have a lot to teach us humans.
I am looking at self-hosted so I can use all those neat plug-ins. She wanted to do it years ago, when she was more active on the blog. Timing just seemed right. Those cats are amazing. I want to know if they were taught that or if they just did it?
DeleteOMG these cats are so polite! It's eerie!!! And I am glad to know that your daughter will be there for Mother's Day Sam! Vacation wise, I just hope that I'll get to have some abroad this year, even if it will only be in France so, neighbor country!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when she sent me the itinerary for Mother's Day. I didn't expect her to come. Nice surprise. Your neighbor is better than mine (Pennsylvania, NY, Delaware). I hope we all get to travel a bit more and can do so safely
DeleteI'm glad your daughter is coming for a visit. I know this past year has been difficult for you, not getting to see her as much. I'm so jealous of you planning vacations. I don't think I will ever get one!
ReplyDeleteI am the cheapest person about everything, because I want to save my pennies for the vacation. It's my one splurge.
DeleteI hadn't driven my car in a while and I just saw it, and it is covered in pollen! The weather got a little too warm for me this week, I'm hoping it gets more temperate!
ReplyDeleteToday is supposed to be another hot one. Since I don't really have to go outside much, I really don't have a right to complain as much as I do.
DeleteIt's been hot here, too! Upper 90s, but thankfully a little cooler for the next couple of days. 80s is still hot, but not as bad. I think planning a vacation is a big part of the fun, so I'm excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm debating on picking up The Soulmate Equation, Dream Spinner or People We Meet on Vacation. I'm excited for all of them! Hope you enjoy The Soulmate Equation!
Too soon for 90s. UGH! People We Meet on Vacation was spectacular. I just read an interview, and Henry says she wrote Vacation as a gift for those who supported her last book. I liked Beach Read, but I adored Vacation.
DeleteI hope your cruise desires work out for you! That would be a great way to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteWe will probably really get into the search when the kid gets here, but I am hopeful.
DeleteI can’t believe it’s May, it’s crazy, the year is going too quickly. A Disney cruise sounds lovely, we are Disney Vacation Club members and they keep sending me tempting emails but we can’t travel abroad yet! Maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteThey canceled all Disney Cruise Line Departures through September. I don't see them having any this year. Ours would be a river boat cruise through Adventures by Disney, but I am not sure how I feel about traveling abroad even if it's a year away.
DeleteYay, so happy to hear your daughter is visiting. I hope you both have a wonderful time and that the site migration goes off without a hitch. Yay for planning a trip for your 50th too. I went to Europe with my bff for her 50th and have been thinking about my own ever since and hoping the pandemic will be well behind us by that point so no destinations are off limits.
ReplyDeleteI am nervous about switching platforms, but it's been a long time coming. Still hemming and hawing about where to go. I am more comfortable with a domestic trip, but the kid doesn't seem too keen on that.
DeleteI'll be reading Made in Korea this month too! My 50th is in 2022, and I'm thinking of maybe planning a trip to Vegas or something. My mom missed out on her big trip planned to Vegas in 2020 for her 65th birthday, so she told me not to bother planning, so we'll see how it goes! Lots of great books this month. I need to read something by Olivia Dade soon.
ReplyDeleteLook! We're the same age. Who knew? I have never been to Vegas, but it looks like a good time. I finished Made in Korea this morning. It was cute. I really liked the male main character, and there's a wonderful grandma too. Hope you enjoy it!
DeleteSo glad you're getting a visit with your daughter, and vacation planning sounds like fun. Hope the website migration goes smoothly for you. I'd certainly miss you if you disappeared!!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Ali! I trust my daughter's technological prowess, but I worry about how quickly I will learn to format posts and whatnot. I have HTML templates I created for blogger, so it's easy here.
DeleteGood luck with the migration! And I would totally love to go on a Disney Cruise one day. I hope it happens!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I hope the cruise industry can recover. I love them so much.
DeleteMade in Korea is REALLY good!!
ReplyDeleteIt was good. I liked both their stories, but I loved Wes
DeleteGood luck moving the blog! How exciting! I really hope that you are able to enjoy your visit with your daughter this weekend. Have a great week, Sam!
ReplyDeleteExciting and scary. We are doing it tomorrow night. Amber said she had no trouble and she migrated herself, so I am hopeful.
DeleteHappy Mother's Day!!! I'm glad your daughter will be there to visit with you. And planning a vacation for next year sounds like a fun time!

Have a wonderful visit with your daughter! And I hope you still exist next week lol
ReplyDeleteWhat is vacation?? I'd love to go on a road trip along the coast here. There is so much to explore.
