Animal Antics!

I am sure you all know I adore almost every cute and fuzzy creature. Those designers who keep popping an animal on a cover, they know the way to my heart. Even when the animals only make a small appearance in a story, they tend to leave an impression on me, and it's usually a good one. (Unless they die, then it's bad. We al know that.) I went through my read-shelf and found some books, that featured some wonderful animal antics.
- People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry - Alex had a cat named Flannery O'Connor. She was a rescue and very small. He would photograph her in small places and things with the reminder that she was a fighter.
- Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne - The retirement community was home to many Golden Bonnet Tortoises, and they cropped up often in the story. Teddy bonds with one, and it was really sweet. I liked how they played into the future for this couple too.
- Life's Too Short by Abby Jimenez - Jimenez always has a dog in her stories, so I was not surprised when Adrian adopted his canine companion. However, he was a very interesting dog, and it was beautiful to see that bond form between them and to see the pup's future unfold.
- Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert - I waxed poetic about this little town in a different post, but I may have omitted all the talk of the water fowl. It cracked me up, and there was a hilarious scene involving said water fowl that was quite memorable.
- Like You Love Me by Adriana Locke - The hero was a veterinarian, so there was no escaping animals in this book. There were some sweet and interesting scenes incorporated into this story, and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into that world.
- Hopeless Romantic by Marina Adair - The emotional support duck was definitely a scene stealer.
- Enjoy the View by Sarah Morgenthaler - Marmots in love. This made me giggle.
- Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams - I don't know, me and Beefcake the cat are just kindred spirits.
- Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker - Calla and Jonah were surrounded by lots of wildlife in Alaska, but I was glad they had their dog and raccoon duo along for their journey.
- Wild on My Mind by Laurel Kerr - This series had one of my all-time favorite animal characters, and she even had her own point of view. Fluffy was a matchmaking honey badger, and I found her terribly amusing.
Favorite fictional creature?

An emotional support duck, marmots and a matchmaking honey badger?! Oh my gosh, those three especially just made me laugh 🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteI love when animals are incorporated in a fun way, and they really were in those books.
DeleteNice picks! I couldn't remember what characters might have had pets from my books, so I took it the paranormal route. That I can easily remember! Lol!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I would think some of the books you read had some good creatures, no?
DeleteI have to admit, I'm scared of raccoons, so when Bandit kept popping up in the KA Tucker series, I wasn't crazy about it!
ReplyDeleteBut he was so lovable!
DeleteI love the cover of Crazy Stupid Bromance. That cat looks a little freaked out.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Beefcake was a very grumpy cat. He was fabulous!
DeleteWild at Heart has a ton of great animals in it. Great choices today!
ReplyDeleteLots of them too. Some scary ones!
Deletethanks for all the chuckles. i do have a weakness for animals on covers too
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I love them on covers, but I love it even more when they are actually part of the story
DeleteI keep wanting to read Enjoy the View because of that dog on the cover. lol

It's the "different" book of the series, because there's this big survival part to it, but I liked it.
DeleteI loved the raccoon in Tucker's series, and Teddy's love for his tortoise in Second First Impressions was super cute! Fun picks and such a cute topic!
ReplyDeleteIt was cute the way the dog and raccoon were such good friends. Oh, when Teddy was an adorable tortoise-dad
DeleteOh Gosh that cat :-))))) And I should have chosen Life's too Short too!
ReplyDeleteI adored the dog in Life's Too Short. Everybody needs to be loved.
DeleteI'm a huge animal lover too, though I can't say I've read a ton of books that feature animals as a main character or plot point. One novel that comes to mind is Fierce Kingdom by Gin Philips. The novel is about a mother and child who happen to be in the middle of a shooting situation inside a zoo. Very intense, but also oddly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would fear for all the caged animals under those circumstances.
DeleteLots of fun animals here! I haven't read any of these, but a few of them are on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
I can attest to them all being delightful, so I hope you get to them at some point.
DeleteI can't wait to read People We Meet on Vacation! And the marmot in Enjoy the View was so stinking cute!! Great choices this week. :)
ReplyDeleteHenry's new book was PHENOMENAL! I hope you love it!
DeleteThe raccoon in Wild at Heart made me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteHim, his relationship with the dog and Jonah. It was all fabulous.
DeleteYay, Beefcake! Your comments about the little cat in People We Meet on Vacation has me even more excited to start that book. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cat makes a small appearance, here and there, but it an impression on me.
