Can't Wait Wednesday!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

This week I can't wait for:
Love and Other Natural Disasters

Misa Sugiura
Age/Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: June 8, 2021
Goodreads
When Nozomi Nagai pictured the ideal summer romance, a fake one wasn’t what she had in mind.

That was before she met the perfect girl. Willow is gorgeous, glamorous, and…heartbroken? And when she enlists Nozomi to pose as her new girlfriend to make her ex jealous, Nozomi is a willing volunteer.

Because Nozomi has a master plan of her own: one to show Willow she’s better than a stand-in, and turn their fauxmance into something real. But as the lies pile up, it’s not long before Nozomi’s schemes take a turn toward disaster…and maybe a chance at love she didn’t plan for.
Why I want to read this book

Though I still need to read Sugiura's debut, I was blown away by her last book, This Time Will Be Different. I knew after finishing that book, that I would jump at the chance to read all her releases. This one sounds a bit lighter than her previous book, which, let's be honest, is way more my speed. This book employs the fake romance trope, which is always a crowd pleaser, and one person in the union agrees knowing they want that fauxmance to turn into a romance. Sounds like it will be cute and fun and all the things I always love.

Roomies

Christina Lauren
Age/Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Publisher: Gallery Books
Release Date: December 5, 2017
Goodreads
From subway to Broadway to happily ever after. Modern love in all its thrill, hilarity, and uncertainty has never been so compulsively readable as in New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren’s romantic novel.

Marriages of convenience are so...inconvenient.

For months Holland Bakker has invented excuses to descend into the subway station near her apartment, drawn to the captivating music performed by her street musician crush. Lacking the nerve to actually talk to the gorgeous stranger, fate steps in one night in the form of a drunken attacker. Calvin Mcloughlin rescues her, but quickly disappears when the police start asking questions.

Using the only resource she has to pay the brilliant musician back, Holland gets Calvin an audition with her uncle, Broadway’s hottest musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until his reason for disappearing earlier becomes clear: he’s in the country illegally, his student visa having expired years ago.

Seeing that her uncle needs Calvin as much as Calvin needs him, a wild idea takes hold of her. Impulsively, she marries the Irishman, her infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves and Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway—in the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting—will Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?
Why I want to read this book

It's been a while since I read some CLo, and with their newest release approaching, I thought I would try to knock out some of their unread books that I own. I bought this book back in 2018 and have read quite a few of their newer releases since I purchased this book. It's time. The story incorporates a great romance trope and is set in NYC, a city where I was born and have some roots. It always tickles me pink when I know the places they are talking about in books, so the setting is definitely a draw for me. I expect this to delight me in the way this duo's books always do.

What are you waiting on?

    1. Of their really old stuff, I have only read a Wild Seasons book, which was ok, but their newer standalones have all been great for me.

    1. If I didn't already love the author, that title would have made me look twice.

  5. The first one is on my TBR, and I actually think I own a copy of the second one. I tried to listen to it on audio I think, and couldn't get into it, but really want to read the story, which is going to be made into a movie maybe? Anyway, great picks this week!
