Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

A wedding harpist disillusioned with love and a hopeless romantic cater-waiter flirt and fight their way through a summer of weddings in this effervescent romantic comedy from the acclaimed author of Today Tonight Tomorrow. Why I want to read this book
Quinn Berkowitz and Tarek Mansour’s families have been in business together for years: Quinn’s parents are wedding planners, and Tarek’s own a catering company. At the end of last summer, Quinn confessed her crush on him in the form of a rambling email—and then he left for college without a response.
Quinn has been dreading seeing him again almost as much as she dreads another summer playing the harp for her parents’ weddings. When he shows up at the first wedding of the summer, looking cuter than ever after a year apart, they clash immediately. Tarek’s always loved the grand gestures in weddings—the flashier, the better—while Quinn can’t see them as anything but fake. Even as they can’t seem to have one civil conversation, Quinn’s thrown together with Tarek wedding after wedding, from performing a daring cake rescue to filling in for a missing bridesmaid and groomsman.
Quinn can’t deny her feelings for him are still there, especially after she learns the truth about his silence, opens up about her own fears, and begins learning the art of harp-making from an enigmatic teacher.
Maybe love isn’t the enemy after all—and maybe allowing herself to fall is the most honest thing Quinn’s ever done.
Solomon is an auto-read for me. I enjoyed her heartbreaking books, but the last two were stupendous! I was so impressed with Solomon's gooey rom-coms, and I am looking forward to more of that. The idea of confessing your love, hearing nothing from the other person, and then having to spend the summer working weddings with them is a great setup. I can just imagine the possibilities, and I can't wait to read them.
I have read four books by Kirby, and three rated 5-stars. It's easy to see that I enjoy her work. I purchased this book back in 2018, after I fell in love with The Other Side of Lost. That book stole my heart, and I just wanted to read all the Kirby books. I am finally getting around to reading her debut, and I am excited. I anticipate some serious emotions, as this book deals with parental loss and returning to where her mother lost her life. Grief and loss plus a sweet romance is usually a recipe that works for me, and I am sure Kirby will do it well.

Sarah Dessen says this "incredible first novel" is "fresh and wise, all at once."Why I want to read this book
I read once that water is a symbol for emotions. And for a while now, I've thought maybe my mother drowned in both.
Anna's life is upended when her father accepts a job transfer the summer before her junior year. It's bad enough that she has to leave her friends behind, but her dad is moving them to the beach where her parents first met and fell in love; a place awash in memories that Anna would just as soon leave under the surface.
While life on the beach is pretty great, with ocean views and one adorable lifeguard in particular, there are also family secrets that were buried years ago. And the ebb and flow of the ocean's tide means that nothing, not the sea glass that collects along the shore, and not the truths behind Anna's mother's death, stays buried forever.

We Can't Keep Meeting Like This sounds perfect for my contemporary heart! I love a good wedding themed book. Moonglass is not one that I have heard of before and I think it will be one emotional ride from that description. I hope that you love both of these. :)
ReplyDeleteWeddings in books are usually a lot of fun, and a whole summer of them should offer lots of fun and feels
DeleteI just love weddings and reading about them, so watching these two characters work at all these weddings while working through their feelings sounds really fun!
ReplyDeleteI am known to cry at fictional weddings. I am all over it
DeleteI'm really excited for the Rachel Lynn Solomon too. So far I've actually only read her rom coms, so I really need to go back and read some of her heartbreakers.
ReplyDeleteHer older books tore my heart out. I was jut think of You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone, because the book I was reading also dealt with testing gene-positive for Huntington's disease. Many tears were shed.
DeleteI just got an ARC of the Rachel Lynn Solomon book. I can't wait to read it! Haven't heard of the second one before. But it sounds like maybe a good summer type of read. Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post earlier!
ReplyDeleteI am sure we both will love it!
DeleteI'm loving that Moonglass cover. The blurb makes it sound good, too. I hope it is!
ReplyDeleteI feel like debuts can go either way. Early work can be a bit rough or it can be really polished because the authors had a long time to work on it. Either way, I expect this one to make me feel something. Kirby is good for that
DeleteWe Can't Keep Meeting Like This sounds like lots of fun, and I'm totally up for that right now!
ReplyDeleteI love feeding my rom-com needs.
Deletehope you enjoy them both
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
No doubt I will.
DeleteColor scheme wise, these covers almost sorta go together! Lol. Hope you enjoy both of these once you get to read them!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!

The original cover for Moonglass matched even better.
DeleteThe Jessi Kirby book does sound like it could be quite moving. Lovely cover too.
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway through and I am loving it. I am real fan of her work
Delete😃😃 You’re right, the possibilities in the Solomon book and its premise Saree just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to be fantastic!
DeleteMy first Solomon book was The Ex Talk and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteHer last two books were rom-coms, and I thought they were fantastic. If you want more emotional reads, her previous books are heartbreakers.
DeleteYay for getting to finally reading her debut! I love going through authors backlists and falling for their older books. Here's hoping this one is a winner too, like her others!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
It was excellent! Kirby knows how to gently work my emotions
DeleteAs I have read and loved The Ex-talk, I will add rachel's new book to my TBR!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a chance to read it, and that she brings that same charm to a YA rom-com
DeleteI love the sound of both of these books. Since you have had luck with both of the authors in the past, odds are good that these will work well for you as well.
ReplyDeleteI tend to stick with authors I have enjoyed, unless they go outside my preferred genres, you know. These are contemporaries, so no brainers for me
