Make Em Laugh!
This week we are talking about books that made me laugh. Life can be hard, and the world can be harsh. That's why funny books will always be my favorite. I think finding a book that is funny to you may be challenging. Humor that hits with one person can easily fail with another. When I think of books that tickled my funny bone, they were goofy, sarcastic, slap-sticky, and sometimes just plain silly. A wide range of humor seems to appeal to me. I found I stuck to rom-coms for this list, and I would say all of these lived up to both the "rom" and "com" part of that designation.
- Swing and a Mishap by Tara Sivec - Sometimes corny, but also very sweet. I had a lot of fun reading this one.
- The Wedding Game by Meghan Quinn - Game show hijinks plus some over the top characters had me laughing out loud.
- That Swoony Feeling by Meghan Quinn - This lovable goofball and his brothers provided plenty of amusement for me.
- Yes & I Love You by Roni Loren - The characters were funny enough on their own, but there was improv. I was bound to laugh.
- Hard Fall by Sara Ney - Buzz had served as the comic relief in the previous book, and now he was the star. He was funny enough on his own, but even more so when he shared page time with his brother.
- Hopeless Romantic by Maria Adair - Both hero and heroine were so funny and then there was a comfort chicken. I laughed a lot!
- The Girl Next Door by Emma Hart - This book had characters being funny, but it also had a lot of rather hilarious things happened to them too.
- Not My Romeo by Ilsa Madden-Mills - The whole cast in this book added to the funny. Their banter and dynamic kept me smiling, giggling, and tickled pink.
- Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams - The comedy comes from the Bromance Boys in every one of these books, with the Russian never failing to make me roll on the floor.
- Yours to Keep by Lauren Layne - The heroine was a trip in this book, and the rest of the people in Haven added to the laughs. I had a great time here!

Sara Ney always makes me laugh! I have to check out Hard Fall! A recent book that had me LOL'ing was The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas! Such a hoot!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I hadn't read a Ney book in a while, but both those "Hard" books were pretty hilarious. I have been seeing TSLD around lately. I was curious. Glad to hear you enjoyed it
DeleteDefinitely agree with the Bromance books, I just love their manly conversations!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite parts are when the boys are on page together.
DeleteIt takes a lot to get a laugh out of me so this was a hard topic for me. I didn't relate to the improv/humor of Yes & I Love You. I'll admit the Bromance Books are funny (except for the Russian's bowel humor - I can't deal with that).
ReplyDeleteHumor is very subjective. So, you're saying you're not a fan of toilet humor? I don't think you're alone.
DeleteThe Bromance Book Club stories made me laugh, too. Tara Sivec is an author I read a few years back and she had me laughing as well.
ReplyDeleteSivec can be more raunchy funny, so I have to be in the mood, but this book wasn't too much.
DeleteBrig in That Swoony Feeling was priceless and kept the laughs coming. When his brother showed up and Brig was using his bare stomach as a dipping bowl for mustard... I was howling. LOL
ReplyDeleteHe really was. When he asked how she ate spaghetti, I knew I was going to adore him.
DeleteThere are a ton of books on your list that made me laugh. They didn't end up on my list today, but they could have been. I haven't read The Wedding Game yet. It's on my list for this week, but I know it will make me laugh. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThe Wedding Game was fun. The hero's brother was so OTT hilarious and the challenges were super fun
DeleteHow have I not read any of these?? I own the first Bromance book but still haven't read it. I need to make that happen. And I'll be perusing these on Goodreads to see what I need to add. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved all the Bromance books. I hope you find the time to give it a look.
DeleteMeghan Quinn has the bests romcom
ReplyDeleteHer books are always really funny.
DeleteHopeless Romantic looks great! I think I jsut fall for those bright sunny covers too... :)
ReplyDeleteThe whole series is really fun, but this heroine was quirky in ways I loved
DeleteHumor is a funny thing since it's so subjective. I think that's one of the reasons I tend to shy away from books that are purposely funny. I'd rather just enjoy some funny bits in an otherwise serious novel. That funny/serious balance appeals to me more than just funny/funny, you know?
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I am more about the lighter side, but I do like the books to still have some depth
DeleteThe Wedding Game had so many hilarious moments. And yay for the Bromance series. I have a feeling the Russian's book is going to be the funniest one yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI anticipate his being really funny, but that there will be something super touching about it too.
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but I should probably add a couple to my mood reader list in case I need something lighthearted! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am the queen of the lighthearted, so if you ever need any recs.....
DeleteYou know... I read so many emotional books that I hardly laugh when I read. I'm sure I have because I do read lighthearted books but I can't think of any. You've just made me want to analyze all my past books! I haven't red any of these. I just heard of The Wedding Game last week. It looks really good. The video of Make em' Laugh made me so happy! 😁
ReplyDeleteI seek out the fun books. Donald O'Connor was a comic genius. Loved him.
