Fat Tuesday!
It's Fat Tuesday! That final indulgence for those of us, who observe the Lenten season. I have never been to Mardi Gras. The closest I came was a Mardi Gras themes party with my Girl Scout troop, but it was fun. I think Mardi Gras is probably something most are familiar with. The parades, the beads, the masks, the king cake - we all can identify these iconic aspects of this event. Today, in honor of Mardi Gras, I am featuring books that match the color scheme - purple, yellow, and green. I have never really done the cover-color topics before, and it was harder than you would think. As always, these are books I have read and really loved. I might have given myself some leeway when it comes to how green looks on a book cover, but I seem to not read many books with green covers. Who knew? I also featured more than ten books, because, you know. today is all about indulgence.
- Love at First by Kate Clayborn
- How to Fail at Flirting by Denise Williams
- The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler
- You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
- Taking Down Evelyn Tait by Poppy Nwosu
- Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson
- Now That I've Found You by Kristina Forrest
- Let's Call It a Doomsday by Katie Henry
- Furia by Yamile Saied Méndez
- All Our Worst Ideas by Vicky Skinner
- The Brave by James Bird
- Always Only You by Chloe Liese
- The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
- In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
- The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Have you even been to Mardi Gras?

I absolutely adore illustrated covers! Love seeing all the different styles!
ReplyDeleteSame, even if I complain they are everywhere, I love them
DeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThose green covers were tricky, weren't they?! Seeing Always Only You makes me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw a bunch of lists today, with books I have read and REAL green covers. I just didn't go back far enough on the read shelf
DeleteI agree, these were some hard cover colors to find! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteYellow was surprisingly easy.
DeleteI've always wanted to go to Mardi Gras but haven't made it there yet. Love your selection of covers! I did okay finding green covers but the purples were a struggle for me. I was telling someone else that most covers I had always considered purple looked blue when I put them next to my greens and yellows. I ended up using two purple books I haven't even read yet, lol.
ReplyDeleteI have never been, but I am not a big crowds type person or a drinker. I would like to visit New Orleans though. I had so many purple. Yellows were the winner for me
DeleteThese colors are just so pretty together! I think you did well with green. I've never been to NOLA for Mardi Gras and don't ever plan to (though I'd like to visit NOLA in general) but I have done king cakes, etc.

Same. Don't care for the party, but would love to see the city. Now I want me some king cake.
DeleteI haven't celebrated Mardi Gras either, but it sounds like so much fun! I love the colorful cover choices you went with!
ReplyDeleteThe kids party I did was great! No need to do Mardi Gras (I am not a party animal), but I do hope to see New Orleans some day though.
DeleteI need to read the Inheritance Game! And you'll be pleased to know that I featured one of your favorites today Sam!
ReplyDeleteBarnes' books have been solid for me, and I really enjoyed that one.
DeleteI’ve never been to Mardi Gras, either, but I’ll use any excuse to indulge. I love your book cover choices.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I would love to see New Orleans, but I am not a big crowds party person
DeleteYou Should See Me In A Crown was amazing! Great picks and covers this week.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for Johnson's next book. If it's as lovely as her debut, it will be a solid hit for me
DeleteI love your cover choices! The colors are beautiful on them.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to have more "real" green covers, but I sort of wanted to feature those books. They were so good.
DeleteLove the color theme! Such a clever take on Mardi Gras! I have not been to Mardi Gras proper (I feel like I'd be wayyy too overwhelmed tbh) but I have been to New Orleans and I looooved it. I really want to go back someday, but not in the middle of summer because wow is it hot there!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be too much for me, but I would love to got to NOLA. I remember when you were there. It looked like you had so much fun. Yes, always a good idea to avoid hot places in the summer if you can. That's why I am going to the Grand Canyon in March. Still decent in AZ
DeleteLots pf pretty covers and good reads here!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Mardi Gras the way the US does... We have "pancake day" to mark Shrove Tuesday. It's been a long time since I cared about religion but I keep the pancake tradition going in my house as it reminds me of my grandad and my childhood. :)
Pancakes! Now that's more my speed. We went meatless twice this week. It's just too much a part of me to not do.
Deletethis is the second year i have missed mardi gras. in 2019, mr wonderful and i were in new orleans and biloxi for mardi gras and had also been to a football playoff game in southern florida, not realizing covid was headed our way. thanks for sharinng

It's nice you have the opportunity to visit. I know it's not too far geographically from you, right? Hopefully you will be able to go again next year.
