Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.

In Sophie Gonzales' Perfect on Paper, Leah on the Offbeat meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before: a bisexual girl who gives anonymous love advice to her classmates is hired by the hot guy to help him get his ex backWhy I want to read this book
Her advice, spot on. Her love life, way off.
Darcy Phillips:
• Can give you the solution to any of your relationship woes―for a fee.
• Uses her power for good. Most of the time.
• Really cannot stand Alexander Brougham.
• Has maybe not the best judgement when it comes to her best friend, Brooke…who is in love with someone else.
• Does not appreciate being blackmailed.
However, when Brougham catches her in the act of collecting letters from locker 89―out of which she’s been running her questionably legal, anonymous relationship advice service―that’s exactly what happens. In exchange for keeping her secret, Darcy begrudgingly agrees to become his personal dating coach―at a generous hourly rate, at least. The goal? To help him win his ex-girlfriend back.
Darcy has a good reason to keep her identity secret. If word gets out that she’s behind the locker, some things she's not proud of will come to light, and there’s a good chance Brooke will never speak to her again.
Okay, so all she has to do is help an entitled, bratty, (annoyingly hot) guy win over a girl who’s already fallen for him once? What could go wrong?
I really enjoyed Gonzales' last book, and I am hoping for more of that blend of hilarious, witty, sweet, and heartwarming. It seems this book has the ingredients to deliver that type of tasty treat too. I am already itching to meet Darcy based on the summary. I want to know more about her and her best friend, and I am eager to sample some of her romantic advice. I sense the dynamic between Darcy and Alexander will be interesting, and I am anticipating something interesting between them. I feel this will be another hit from Gonzales and look forward to reading it.
I did that whole post about how I wished Brody had a new book coming out, and here I am, guilty of having some of her books withering away on my shelves. That's one reason to read the book, but I think this one will be a good time. Having been exposed to reality show heiresses in my past, I know much comedy can be culled from their daily lives, and the idea of her working low-wage jobs as her punishment screams of shades of The Simple Life. Though I was not a viewer of the show, you know I saw clips, and it provided light and silly amusement. Looking forward to some laughs.

Being America’s favorite heiress is a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.Why I want to read this book
Lexington Larrabee has never to work a day in her life. After all, she’s the heiress to the multi-billion-dollar Larrabee Media empire. And heiresses are not supposed to work. But then again, they’re not supposed to crash brand new Mercedes convertibles into convenience stores on Sunset Blvd either.
Which is why, on Lexi’s eighteen birthday, her ever-absent, tycoon father decides to take a more proactive approach to her wayward life. Every week for the next year, she will have to take on a different low-wage job if she ever wants to receive her beloved trust fund. But if there’s anything worse than working as a maid, a dishwasher, and a fast-food restaurant employee, it’s dealing with Luke, the arrogant, albeit moderately attractive, college intern her father has assigned to keep tabs on her.
In a hilarious “comedy of heiress” about family, forgiveness, good intentions, and best of all, second chances, Lexi learns that love can be unconditional, money can be immaterial, and, regardless of age, everyone needs a little saving. And although she might have 52 reasons to hate her father, she only needs one reason to love him.

52 Reasons sounds like it's going to be a great, fun read!
ReplyDeleteI think so too

DeleteI like the sound of the Gonzales book but it's one I'd probably buy (like Only Mostly Devastated) and then have it sit on my shelf unread for ages...
ReplyDeleteYou should read Only Mostly Devastated. It was great.
DeleteCute picks! These are new to me ones! I hope you enjoy them once you get to read them!

52 Reasons was a hit!
DeleteI read 52 Reasons years ago but I enjoyed it so much. I barely recognized it by the new cover though.
ReplyDeleteIt's the book that made me a Brody fan girl even though her writing is always different.

I don't know if it's a new cover, but it's the paperback cover and the one my kindle shows. I like it better than the snarky girl cover. I loved it. So fun and touching too. If I wasn't already a fan, I would be after this book
DeleteI want those shoes!!
ReplyDeleteI think my daughter has something like them
Delete52 Reasons sounds hilarious! I'm also really excited for Perfect on Paper, especially with those comparisons to Han and Albertalli.

DeleteOMGGG, 52 reasons sounds like such glorious fun!! The comparison to The Simple Life is so right!!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful and even took a bit of a surprise turn in the story. Loved it!
DeletePerfect on Paper sounds like an interesting read although might not also be my type of book? maybe? I'm interested to see reviews for it once it's out.
ReplyDeleteI am reading it this week, so I will have "thoughts" by Sunday about it.
DeleteWow the Simple Life - you just brought me back Sam! 52 Reasons sounds like fun. Jessica Brody is working on that Sci-Fi Les Mis YA series, right?
ReplyDeleteThe book was great, and there really were Simple Life moments. I have no idea what Brody is working on, but if it's sci-fi, that explains why I don't.
DeleteI am really looking forward to Perfect on Paper! 52 Reasons sounds like it could be a lot of fun too!
ReplyDeleteI loved 52 Reasons so much! It was as fun as I suspected, but it was also heartwarming. I'm a fan
