Giving Thanks!
Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the US, and for me it's always been a nice day to spend time with family. It's also a time to count my blessings. Yes, things could always be better, but I like having a day, like Thanksgiving Day, to remind me to stop and recognize all the good things in my life. I included some old family photos for your amusement. - My family. They drive me up the wall sometimes, but I believe they will always be there with a helping hand if I needed it.
- My daughter. It pains me to be separated from her, because she is one of the few people I really enjoy spending time with, but I am grateful that she has been willing to travel during these end of days times to see me.
- My job. I really feel like my company has gone the extra mile by finding me a work from home position. I am lucky that my business was not negatively impacted by the virus as well, and I really do feel like they are working to keep us safe during these times.
- Good health. I am surprised, but very happy that no one in my immediate family has been affected by the virus.
- Books have always been great escapes for me, but they really had to work overtime this year. I am happy so many incredible books found their way to me, and helped me deal with all that is going on around me.
- My fellow bloggers. I know I was crying earlier this year about those who have disappeared, but that makes me even more grateful for those of you who are still here with me. I cherish my interactions with you.
- Online shopping has always been something I loved, but now it's vital as I really don't like being out and about these days.
- I'm going to say it - Animal Crossing. I did not get to see my child for eight months, BUT we got to visit virtually via the game. It was also a great time waster and kept me from fretting about other things.
- Essential workers. They were keeping things going, while I was locked away. I really appreciate and respect all they do.
- Opportunities, which I hope may turn into more.
What are you thankful for?

Amazing list, Sam. And I am thankful for so many of the same things. Essential workers and online shopping and books and bloggers... this year especially has made me appreciate them all the more. Love the photos you included! :)
ReplyDeleteI always had a lot of love for all those things, but this year really made me understand their importance in my life. Can you find me in all the pics? 🤪
DeleteI think I can! The one of you in the bottom middle pic is so adorable! :)
DeleteWhere my sister is biting me. It's a favorite. That was our Christmas card
DeleteHappy ( early) Thanksgiving,Sam! I hope you and your family have a safe holiday!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I hope you are safe and well too.
DeleteGreat list! I agree, our essential workers deserve all our gratitude this year. Haha I have a feeling a lot of people are thankful for Animal Crossing this year!
ReplyDeleteAny thing that can distract me from real life is welcome this year.
DeleteGreat list, Sam, and I love the pictures! Even though it's been a tough year, there is still so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThere is always something to be thankful for. It's just sometimes hard to see it through all the darkness. This topic was good for me to participate in.
DeleteAww, this is a sweet list. I’m thankful for online shopping too. Since March, I’ve gone to the store 3 times. I’ve been able to buy everything else online.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I only go to the store for food really. It's been rare for me to go otherwise.
DeleteAww! I love this! The pictures are so sweet. I've online shopped a lot too. I only go to the grocery store or to get coffee at Starbucks.
ReplyDeleteI think I have gone to non-food shopping twice since March.
DeleteWhat a lovely list, I also love how you have Animal Crossing on it! I’ve bought my daughters a switch each for Christmas so I’m looking forward to exploring!
ReplyDeleteIt really was a fun way to pass time, and a virtual way to spend time with my kid when I didn't see her for 8 months. You should try to play a little. It's fun
DeleteWhat a thoughtful post - you even included essential workers. And look at you, a young mom with curly hair! 😄 Mini you was also adorable.
ReplyDeleteAs far as job is concerned, you're really lucky - and in other departments too. I hope it stays that way! Happy Thanksgiving!
Ah, yes. I used to perm my hair back in the day. Then I moved to FL and the humidity was a nightmare. Our essential workers (my co-workers included) have been going out there every day, while I am in my room. They deserve credit for keeping things going.
DeleteThis si an amazing list Sam! It always reminds me of what's truly important doing these kind of lists!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to take time, every now and then, to count your blessings, and even more important when things seem a bit hopeless.
DeleteOOh nice ones! I can agree with these as well! I find my top ten non bookish things I'm grateful for are usually the same.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT!
A lot of people shared these sentiments. My non-bookish things are a bit different this year, though, some are mainstays.
DeleteWhat wonderful thing to be thankful for! My daughter has been my buddy during this time, so I know it has to be hard being separated from yours. Thank goodness for animal crossing.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am still enjoying the game too.
DeleteWhat a wonderful list! I am grateful for many of the same things. I do feel like I have been very lucky with everything that has happened this year.
ReplyDeleteI don't make a million dollars, but I do feel like my company has gone above and beyond during this pandemic.
DeleteOnline shopping is definitely something I take for granted and forget to be thankful for on the regular. It makes life so much easier, especially these days when it's safer to be at home. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT and Thanksgiving!
Anything that keeps me from having to go out in crowds these days is something I love.
DeleteLove your family photos! I'm thankful for so many of the things you have listed here. My job, while I have been worried a time or two working directly with covid pts at the hospital, I'm grateful for the job I have and that the hospital I work at provides the protection I need to care for patients when they need me most.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to find some enjoyment and change the channel mentally by playing Animal Crossing. Distraction has been so vital to all of our mental health, right?! It's all about how we look at things and I feel joy seeing you focus on the positive here, Sam! Have a lovely Thanksgiving! :)
I am happy to hear you feel they are trying to keep you safe. That's important. I think my company is doing a good job for the people in office too. Escape is how I survive. Animal Crossing is just a new outlet for me. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
DeleteI am very thankful for most of these things too. Books are always a good companion, and I'm personally thankful for my cat and having him during COVID.

A cat would be great comfort and company during all this.
DeleteThis is a good list of things to be thankful for. I think I’m most thankful for other bloggers keeping me going this year. My family and friends because I definitely wouldn’t have managed without them to text. And I’m thankful for my house being so close to my mom’s so I’ve never felt isolated.
ReplyDeleteI feel lucky I am not alone during this. So, it is great that you are not too far from your mom.
DeleteSuch a great list and I love all of the family photos! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice. I hope you and yours had a great day too!
