I have been having great success with novels-in-verse and was immediately drawn to this one, when I stumbled upon it. And if you promise heartbreak, you know I want to read it even more. I also love seeing more friend break up books. If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, so many people experience this, and I think it's important to see characters go through that sort of thing too.

I won Tin Heart, also by Plozza, in a Goodreads giveaway, and I loved the book so much, I knew I had to read more of her work. Frankie had been on my TBR for a while, but I didn't actually buy it for quite a some time, and obviously, it's been sitting unread for a bit now. But, the time is now! I am so intrigued by Frankie. I really want to know why she's so angry and what happened in her past, and I anticipate this being full of feels, because Plozza is good at that.

I have always loved Sones and Acevedo's verse books are great too. I have been having good luck with them.

DeleteNovels in verse actually really put me off, but I am learning they are great in audiobook form so Chlorine Sky looks good and a friendship break up in the book? Thar is a book I want to read. I’ve seen a couple of other bloggers read Frankie so I added it to my TBR but still haven’t got around to it. I hope you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI feel the narrator would have to be really good. Jason Reynolds and Elizabeth Acevedo narrated their own books in verse, and I have heard amazing things about those.

DeleteI haven't actually heard of either of these before. The first one sounds good, except for the poetry part, I don't do so well with those books unfortunately. But I'll be sure to put it on an order list for my students. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my Wednesday post earlier!

DeleteYou are so right about now important friends breakup books are (I still don't know how to navigate one). Chlorine Sky sounds heartbreaking.

DeleteChlorine Sky sounds really good and I agree that we need more friend break up books. That's a very real thing that so can be so painful. I think having it represented in books is good so people going through it don't feel like they're the only ones.
