Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
I am combining CWW with Books From the Backlog hosted by Carole at Carole's Random Life in Books. This will allow me to feature some newly "rediscovered" books, which I plan on reading, alongside a new release.
This week I can't wait for:

In the wake of sudden tragedy, a pair of twin sisters uncovers a secret that rips open their world. Katherine Rothchild explores the pain and power of forgiveness in a stunning debut novel that will shatter your heart and piece it back together, one truth at a time. Why I want to read this book
Sixteen-year-old Sabine Braxton and her identical twin, Blythe, don’t have much in common. When their father dies from an unexpected illness, each copes with the loss in her own way—Sabine by “poeting” (an uncontrollable quirk of bursting into poetry at inappropriate moments) and Blythe by obsessing over getting into MIT, their father’s alma mater. Neither can offer each other much support . . . at least not until their emotionally detached mother moves them into a ramshackle Bay Area mansion owned by a creepy stranger named Charlie.
Soon the sisters are united in a mission to figure out who Charlie is and why he seems to know everything about them. Neither is prepared for the bombshell they uncover. Confronted with a past both parents kept hidden, the sisters must fight for a path forward and decide—on their own terms—if they can embrace the legacy their father truly wanted.
Is it odd, that I see the phrase "will shatter your heart", and it just draws me in? There's something in the synopsis that reminds me a bit of Little Universes , which I LOVED. Both are stories of sisters trying to cope with the unexpected loss of a parent. One was bound to the father via their mutual love of science. They both also have a BOMBSHELL the girls discover. I am interested in seeing what story Rothschild has to tell here, and you know about me and grief books (perfect together).
This is one of those books-of-shame. I own this book in both print and electronic format, and still haven't read it. I think I owned it before I read a different Morrill book. One which I took out of the library. Anyhow, I am reading it now, and I am excited. This book sounds super cute. We have a crush, a nemesis, and a trip abroad, which I think will all add up to something wonderful for me.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quote another to fall for the - gasp - wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's the queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her...well, pocket. Julia also believes in fate, and that Mark, her childhood crush, is her MTB - her meant-to-be.Why I want to read this book
But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts...from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to live a little along the way. And this begins a wild-goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.
Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

Meant To Be does sound super cute, and I really like that cover!
ReplyDeleteIt is. I started it this morning, and I think this is the point where she realizes he is not her enemy aka my favorite part of this type of romance.
DeleteHaha! I feel the same way when I read a synopsis that claims to shatter me. It is almost like a dare to read it! Both of these sound like wonderful reads and I hope that you enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteRight? I'm a total masochist.
DeleteI think I own Meant to Be and haven't read it yet either... I feel like almost every book you post throwback TBR books they are on my list, too. I can't wait to hear what you think of it. Maybe I'll have to read it.
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway through, and it's been cute and fun so far.
DeleteWider Than The Sky has an amazing cover, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is. You know me and pretty covers.
DeleteBoth sound good, and I like that you kind of have matching covers on your two picks this week! Thanks for visiting my Wednesday post earlier!
ReplyDeleteThe matching cover thing happens a lot and is totally unintential
DeleteI read Meant to Be years ago and really enjoyed it actually, it's surprisingly witty which I absolutely loved. Wider than the Sky sounds like one of those books that has the potential to destroy you, so of course I'm all in as well! That cover though, it's beautiful and so incredibly eye catching. I hope you're enjoyed Meant to Be Sam and looking forward to seeing what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteI am about halfway through MTB, and it's very cute. I am at the point where the hate turns to love, which is what I'm here for.
DeleteNice picks! Love your coordinating covers again! They both got that "magic light/rays" or whatever you call it going on! Lol! Hope you enjoy both of these once you get to read them!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I have no idea how I always manage to unknowingly coordinate my covers.
DeleteI like the sound of that first one a lot!
ReplyDeleteI was able to get a copy of it, so we will know soon if it's a hit or a miss
DeleteMy gosh is the cover for Wider than the Sky just beautiful? It does sound like an emotional, tragic blurb, and then they throw in the 'bombshell' and then that adds something else altogether to it.
ReplyDeleteI live for that
DeleteI had a hard copy of Meant to Be sitting on my bookshelf for *years* before I finally unhauled it. I'll be interested to read your thoughts on it... and see if I made a mistake. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was very cute. I liked the way I slowly got to know her "nemesis" and how there was so much more to him than meets the eye. I would have liked an epilogue to see how they did once they got home, but it was cute and fun.
DeleteBoth of these books are new to me but can I just say how amazing both of these covers are?! I wouldn't hesitate to read either of these books.
ReplyDeleteMeant to Be was the fun and cute story I was looking for
Delete"Shatter you heart" makes me run for the hills lol but as long as things end ok I'll read it.
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I do have a requirement that the book have a happy or hopeful ending, which is usually the case (and hopefully what happens with this book)
DeleteWider than the sky seems so intriguing Sam!!! I love books with family secrets.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about it, and I got an ARC too. Yeah! So, you should be hearing something about it in maybe a month or so
